Nag-asawa si Solomon(A)
3 Si Solomon ay nagkaroon ng pakikipagkaibigan kay Faraon na hari sa Ehipto sa pamamagitan ng pag-aasawa niya sa anak na babae ni Faraon, at dinala niya ito sa lunsod ni David, hanggang sa kanyang natapos itayo ang kanyang sariling bahay, ang bahay ng Panginoon, at ang pader sa palibot ng Jerusalem.
2 Ang taong-bayan ay naghahandog sa matataas na dako, sapagkat wala pang bahay na naitayo sa pangalan ng Panginoon hanggang sa mga araw na iyon.
3 Minahal ni Solomon ang Panginoon, at lumakad sa mga tuntunin ni David na kanyang ama. Kaya lang, siya'y nag-alay at nagsunog ng insenso sa matataas na dako.
4 At ang hari ay naparoon sa Gibeon upang mag-alay doon, sapagkat iyon ang pinakamataas na dako. Si Solomon ay naghandog sa dambanang iyon ng libong handog na sinusunog.
5 Sa Gibeon ay nagpakita ang Panginoon kay Solomon sa panaginip sa gabi, at sinabi ng Diyos, “Hingin mo kung ano ang ibibigay ko sa iyo.”
6 At sinabi ni Solomon, “Ikaw ay nagpakita ng dakila at tapat na pag-ibig sa iyong lingkod na si David na aking ama, sapagkat siya'y lumakad sa harap mo sa katapatan, at sa katarungan, at sa katapatan ng puso sa iyo; at iyong iningatan para sa kanya itong dakila at tapat na pag-ibig at iyong binigyan siya ng isang anak na luluklok sa kanyang trono, sa araw na ito.
7 Ngayon, O Panginoon kong Diyos, iyong ginawang hari ang iyong lingkod na kahalili ni David na aking ama; bagaman ako'y isang musmos lamang; hindi ko nalalaman ang paglabas at pagpasok.
8 At ang iyong lingkod ay nasa gitna ng iyong bayan na iyong pinili, isang malaking bayan na hindi mabibilang o matuturingan dahil sa karamihan.
9 Bigyan mo ang iyong lingkod ng isang mapag-unawang isipan upang pamahalaan ang iyong bayan, upang aking makilala ang mabuti at ang masama; sapagkat sino ang makakapamahala dito sa iyong malaking bayan?”
10 Ikinalugod ng Panginoon na ito ang hiningi ni Solomon.
11 At sinabi ng Diyos sa kanya, “Sapagkat iyong hiningi ang bagay na ito, at hindi mo hiningi para sa iyo ang mahabang buhay; o hiningi mo man para sa iyo ang mga kayamanan, o hiningi mo man ang buhay ng iyong mga kaaway; kundi ang hiningi mo para sa iyo'y karunungan upang kumilala ng matuwid,
12 narito, aking ginagawa ngayon ayon sa iyong salita. Narito, binibigyan kita ng isang pantas at matalinong pag-iisip, na anupa't walang naging gaya mo na una sa iyo, o may babangon mang sinumang tulad mo pagkamatay mo.
13 Ibinibigay ko rin sa iyo ang hindi mo hiningi, ang kayamanan at ang karangalan, anupa't walang magiging gaya mo sa mga hari, sa lahat ng iyong mga araw.
14 Kung ikaw ay lalakad sa aking mga daan, upang ingatan ang aking mga tuntunin, at ang aking mga utos, gaya ng paglakad ng iyong amang si David, ay aking pahahabain ang iyong mga araw.”
15 At nagising si Solomon, iyon ay isang panaginip. Pagkatapos siya'y naparoon sa Jerusalem, at tumayo sa harap ng kaban ng tipan ng Panginoon. Siya ay nag-alay ng mga handog na sinusunog, mga handog pangkapayapaan, at gumawa ng kasayahan sa lahat ng kanyang mga lingkod.
Ang Matalinong Paghatol ni Solomon
16 Pagkatapos ay naparoon sa hari ang dalawang upahang babae[a] at tumayo sa harapan niya.
17 Sinabi ng isang babae, “O panginoon ko, ako at ang babaing ito ay nakatira sa iisang bahay; at ako'y nanganak ng isang batang lalaki nang kasama ko pa siya sa bahay.
18 Nang ikatlong araw pagkatapos na ako'y makapanganak, ang babaing ito'y nanganak din, at kami ay magkasama. Wala kaming ibang kasama sa bahay, liban sa aming dalawa.
19 Ang anak ng babaing ito ay namatay kinagabihan sapagkat kanyang nadaganan ito.
20 At siya'y bumangon nang hatinggabi, at kinuha niya ang anak kong lalaki sa tabi ko, samantalang ang iyong lingkod ay natutulog. Inihiga niya ito sa kanyang dibdib, at inilagay ang kanyang patay na anak sa aking dibdib.
21 Kinaumagahan, nang ako'y bumangon upang aking pasusuhin ang aking anak, nakita ko na siya'y patay na. Ngunit kinaumagahan, nang aking kilalaning mabuti, hindi iyon ang batang aking ipinanganak.”
22 Ngunit sinabi ng isang babae, “Hindi. Ngunit ang buháy ay aking anak at ang patay ay iyong anak.” At sinabi ng isa, “Hindi. Ngunit ang patay ay ang iyong anak, at ang buháy ay siyang aking anak.” Ganito sila nagsalita sa harap ng hari.
23 Nang magkagayo'y sinabi ng hari, “Ang isa'y nagsasabi, ‘Ang aking anak ay ang buháy, at ang iyong anak ay ang patay.’ At ang isa'y nagsasabi rin, ‘Hindi; kundi ang iyong anak ay ang patay, at ang aking anak ay ang buháy.’”
24 Kaya't sinabi ng hari, “Dalhan ninyo ako ng isang tabak.” At sila'y nagdala ng isang tabak sa harap ng hari.
25 At sinabi ng hari, “Hatiin sa dalawa ang buháy na bata, at ibigay ang kalahati sa isa at ang kalahati ay sa isa naman.”
26 Nang magkagayo'y nagsalita ang babae na ina ng buháy na bata sa hari, sapagkat ang kanyang puso ay nahahabag sa kanyang anak, at sinabi niya, “O panginoon ko, ibigay mo sa kanya ang buháy na bata, at sa anumang paraa'y huwag mong patayin.” Ngunit ang sabi ng isa, “Hindi iyan magiging akin ni sa iyo man; hatiin siya.”
27 Nang magkagayo'y sumagot ang hari at nagsabi, “Ibigay ang buháy na bata sa unang babae, at sa anumang paraa'y huwag patayin. Siya ang kanyang ina.”
28 Nabalitaan ng buong Israel ang hatol na iginawad ng hari; sila'y natakot sa hari sapagkat kanilang nakita na ang karunungan upang maggawad ng katarungan ng Diyos ay nasa kanya.

3 Сулейман породнился с фараоном, царём Египта, женившись на его дочери. Он поселил её в Городе Давуда, пока не закончил строить свой дворец, храм Вечного и стену вокруг Иерусалима.
2 А народ, по-прежнему, приносил жертвы в святилищах на возвышенностях, потому что храм для поклонения Вечному всё ещё не был построен. 3 Сулейман любил Вечного, следуя наказам своего отца Давуда, но и он приносил жертвы и возжигал благовония, находящиеся в сосудах в святилищах на возвышенностях.

15 Тут Сулейман проснулся и понял, что это был сон. Он пришёл в Иерусалим, встал перед сундуком соглашения Владыки и принёс всесожжения и жертвы примирения. После этого он устроил для всего двора пир.

16 Однажды к царю пришли две женщины-блудницы и встали перед ним. 17 Одна из них сказала:
– О мой господин! Мы с этой женщиной живём в одном доме, и когда она была в доме, я родила. 18 А на третий день после этого родила и она. Мы были вместе, никого с нами в доме не было, только мы вдвоём. 19 Ночью сын этой женщины умер, потому что она случайно задавила его во сне. 20 Среди ночи она поднялась и взяла моего сына, пока твоя рабыня спала. Она положила его к своей груди, а своего мёртвого сына положила к моей груди. 21 Утром я встала, чтобы покормить своего сына, а он мёртвый, но когда я рассмотрела его на свету, мне стало ясно, что это не мой сын, которого я родила.

– О мой господин! Отдайте ей ребёнка живым! Не убивайте его!
Но другая сказала:
– Ни я, ни ты его не получим. Разрубите его!
27 Тогда царь постановил:
– Отдайте живого ребёнка первой женщине. Не убивайте его, она его мать.
28 Когда весь Исраил услышал о приговоре, который вынес царь, они стали уважать его, потому что увидели, что в нём мудрость от Аллаха, чтобы творить суд.

New English Translation
The Lord Gives Solomon Wisdom
3 Solomon made an alliance by marriage with Pharaoh, king of Egypt; he married Pharaoh’s daughter. He brought her to the City of David[a] until he could finish building his residence and the temple of the Lord and the wall around Jerusalem. 2 Now the people were offering sacrifices at the high places,[b] because in those days a temple had not yet been built to honor the Lord.[c] 3 Solomon demonstrated his loyalty to the Lord by following[d] the practices[e] of his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.
4 The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for it had the most prominent of the high places.[f] Solomon would offer up[g] 1,000 burnt sacrifices on the altar there. 5 One night in Gibeon the Lord appeared[h] to Solomon in a dream. God said, “Tell[i] me what I should give you.” 6 Solomon replied, “You demonstrated[j] great loyalty to your servant, my father David, as he served[k] you faithfully, properly, and sincerely.[l] You have maintained this great loyalty to this day by allowing his son to sit on his throne.[m] 7 Now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in my father David’s place, even though I am only a young man and am inexperienced.[n] 8 Your servant stands[o] among your chosen people;[p] they are a great nation that is too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning mind[q] so he can make judicial decisions for[r] your people and distinguish right from wrong.[s] Otherwise[t] no one is able[u] to make judicial decisions for[v] this great nation of yours.”[w] 10 The Lord[x] was pleased that Solomon made this request.[y] 11 God said to him, “Because you asked for the ability to make wise judicial decisions, and not for long life, or riches, or vengeance on your enemies,[z] 12 I[aa] grant your request[ab] and give[ac] you a wise and discerning mind[ad] superior to that of anyone who has preceded or will succeed you.[ae] 13 Furthermore, I am giving[af] you what you did not request—riches and honor so that you will be the greatest king of your generation.[ag] 14 If you follow my instructions[ah] by obeying[ai] my rules and regulations, just as your father David did,[aj] then I will grant you long life.”[ak] 15 Solomon then woke up and realized it was a dream.[al] He went to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the Lord’s covenant, offered up burnt sacrifices, presented peace offerings,[am] and held a feast for all his servants.
Solomon Demonstrates His Wisdom
16 Then two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. 17 One of the women said, “My master, this woman and I live in the same house. I had a baby while she was with me in the house. 18 Then three days after I had my baby, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one else in the house except the two of us.[an] 19 This woman’s child suffocated[ao] during the night when she rolled[ap] on top of him. 20 She got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side, while your servant was sleeping. She put him in her arms, and put her dead son in my arms. 21 I got up in the morning to nurse my son, and there[aq] he was, dead! But when I examined him carefully in the morning, I realized it was not my baby.”[ar] 22 The other woman said, “No! My son is alive; your son is dead!” But the first woman replied, “No, your son is dead; my son is alive.” Each presented her case before the king.[as]
23 The king said, “One says, ‘My son is alive; your son is dead,’ while the other says, ‘No, your son is dead; my son is alive.’” 24 The king ordered, “Get me a sword.” So they placed a sword before the king. 25 The king then said, “Cut the living child in two, and give half to one and half to the other!” 26 The real mother[at] spoke up to the king, for her motherly instincts were awakened.[au] She said, “My master, give her the living child! Whatever you do, don’t kill him!”[av] But the other woman said, “Neither one of us will have him. Let them cut him in two!” 27 The king responded, “Give the first woman the living child; don’t kill him. She is the mother.” 28 When all Israel heard about the judicial decision which the king had rendered, they respected[aw] the king, for they realized[ax] that he possessed divine wisdom[ay] to make judicial decisions.
