⁵⁵ All the troops that Deme′trius had cast off gathered around him, and they fought against Deme′trius,^[a] and he fled and was routed. ⁵⁶ And Trypho captured the elephants^[b] and gained control of Antioch. ⁵⁷ Then the young Anti′ochus wrote to Jonathan, saying, “I confirm you in the high priesthood and set you over the four districts and make you one of the friends of the king.”
