Solomon’s Many Wives

11 King Solomon loved many ·women who were not from Israel [^Lforeign women]. He loved the daughter of ·the king of Egypt [^LPharaoh], as well as women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites [Prov. 5–7].

¹³ King Rehoboam ·made himself a strong king [strengthened/established himself] in Jerusalem. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he ·was king [reigned] in Jerusalem for seventeen years. Jerusalem is the city that the Lord chose from all the tribes of Israel in which ·he was to be worshiped [^Lto put his name]. Rehoboam’s mother was Naamah from the country of Ammon.

²⁶ ·Foreign women [^LWas it not things like this that…?] made King Solomon of Israel sin. There was never a king like him in any of the nations. God loved Solomon and made him king over all Israel, but foreign ·women [wives] made even him sin [1 Kin. 11:1–13].
