1 John 3:8-10
English Standard Version
8 (A)Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was (B)to destroy the works of the devil. 9 (C)No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's[a] seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, (D)nor is the one who (E)does not love his brother.

New American Standard Bible
8 the one who practices sin is (A)of the devil; for the devil [a]has been sinning from the beginning. (B)The Son of God (C)appeared for this purpose, (D)to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who has been (E)born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God. 10 By this the (F)children of God and the (G)children of the devil are obvious: [b]anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who (H)does not love his (I)brother and sister.
