⁶ I planted the seed,^(A) Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.

²⁶ He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila^(A) heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.

²⁷ When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia,^(B) the brothers and sisters^(C) encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed.

¹⁴ We are not going too far in our boasting, as would be the case if we had not come to you, for we did get as far as you^(A) with the gospel of Christ.^{(B) 15} Neither do we go beyond our limits^(C) by boasting of work done by others.^(D) Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow,^(E) our sphere of activity among you will greatly expand,

⁹ For we are co-workers in God’s service;^(A) you are God’s field,^(B) God’s building.^(C)

¹⁰ By the grace God has given me,^(D) I laid a foundation^(E) as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care.

⁴ Every Sabbath^(A) he reasoned in the synagogue,^(B) trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.

⁵ When Silas^(C) and Timothy^(D) came from Macedonia,^(E) Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah.^{(F) 6} But when they opposed Paul and became abusive,^(G) he shook out his clothes in protest^(H) and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads!^(I) I am innocent of it.^(J) From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”^(K)

⁷ Then Paul left the synagogue and went next door to the house of Titius Justus, a worshiper of God.^{(L) 8} Crispus,^(M) the synagogue leader,^(N) and his entire household^(O) believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians who heard Paul believed and were baptized.

⁹ One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision:^(P) “Do not be afraid;^(Q) keep on speaking, do not be silent. ¹⁰ For I am with you,^(R) and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” ¹¹ So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.^(S)

9 Am I not free?^(A) Am I not an apostle?^(B) Have I not seen Jesus our Lord?^(C) Are you not the result of my work in the Lord?^(D)

Paul’s Appeal and Warning

¹⁴ I am writing this not to shame you^(A) but to warn you as my dear children.^{(B) 15} Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father^(C) through the gospel.^(D)

³⁰ It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus,^(A) who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness,^(B) holiness^(C) and redemption.^(D)
