A Genealogy of the Returned Exiles
9 So all Israel was recorded in genealogies, and these are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. And (A)Judah was taken into exile in Babylon because of their breach of faith. 2 (B)Now the first to (C)dwell again in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the (D)temple servants. 3 And some of the people of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh lived in Jerusalem: 4 Uthai the son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, from the sons of (E)Perez the son of Judah. 5 And of the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn, and his sons. 6 Of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their kinsmen, 690. 7 Of the Benjaminites: Sallu the son of Meshullam, son of Hodaviah, son of Hassenuah, 8 Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, Elah the son of Uzzi, son of Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, son of Reuel, son of Ibnijah; 9 and their kinsmen according to their generations, (F)956. All these were heads of fathers' houses according (G)to their fathers' houses.
10 (H)Of the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jachin, 11 and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, the (I)chief officer of the house of God; 12 and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adiel, son of Jahzerah, son of Meshullam, son of Meshillemith, son of Immer; 13 besides their kinsmen, heads of their fathers' houses, 1,760, mighty men for the work of the service of the house of God.
14 (J)Of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; 15 and Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal and Mattaniah the son of Mica, son of Zichri, son of Asaph; 16 and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.
17 The gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their kinsmen (Shallum was the chief); 18 until then they were (K)in the king's gate on the east side as the gatekeepers of the camps of the Levites. 19 Shallum the son of Kore, son of (L)Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his kinsmen of his fathers' house, the (M)Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent, as their fathers had been in charge of the camp of the Lord, keepers of the entrance. 20 And (N)Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the chief officer over them in time past; the Lord was with him. 21 (O)Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 22 All these, who were chosen as gatekeepers at the thresholds, were 212. They were enrolled by genealogies in their villages. (P)David and Samuel (Q)the seer established them in their office of trust. 23 So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house of the Lord, that is, the house of the tent, as guards. 24 The gatekeepers were on the four sides, east, west, north, and south. 25 And their kinsmen who were (R)in their villages were obligated to come (S)in every seven days, in turn, to be with these, 26 for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted to be over (T)the chambers and the treasures of the house of God. 27 And they lodged around the house of God, for on them lay the duty of watching, and (U)they had charge of opening it every morning.
28 Some of them had charge of the utensils of service, for they were required to count them when they were brought in and taken out. 29 Others of them were appointed over the furniture and over all the holy utensils, also over the (V)fine flour, the wine, the oil, the incense, and the spices. 30 Others, of the sons of the priests, (W)prepared the mixing of the spices, 31 and Mattithiah, one of the Levites, the firstborn of (X)Shallum the (Y)Korahite, was entrusted with (Z)making the flat cakes. 32 Also some of their kinsmen of the Kohathites had (AA)charge of the showbread, to prepare it every Sabbath.
33 Now these, the (AB)singers, the heads of fathers' houses of the Levites, were in the chambers of the temple free from other service, for they were on duty day and night. 34 These were heads of fathers' houses of the Levites, according to their generations, leaders. These lived in Jerusalem.

35 (AC)In Gibeon lived the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, and the name of his wife was Maacah, 36 and his firstborn son Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, 37 Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth; 38 and Mikloth was the father of Shimeam; and these also lived opposite their kinsmen in Jerusalem, with their kinsmen. 39 (AD)Ner fathered Kish, Kish fathered Saul, Saul fathered Jonathan, Malchi-shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. 40 And the son of Jonathan was (AE)Merib-baal, and Merib-baal fathered Micah. 41 The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and (AF)Ahaz.[a] 42 And Ahaz fathered (AG)Jarah, and Jarah fathered Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. And Zimri fathered Moza. 43 Moza fathered Binea, and (AH)Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son. 44 Azel had six sons and these are their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan; these were the sons of Azel.

6 De los zeraítas: Jeuel y el resto de sus parientes; en total seiscientas noventa personas.
7 De los benjaminitas: Salú hijo de Mesulán, hijo de Hodavías, hijo de Senuá;[a] 8 Ibneías hijo de Jeroán; Elá hijo de Uzi, hijo de Micri; Mesulán hijo de Sefatías, hijo de Reuel, hijo de Ibnías, 9 con sus parientes. Según sus registros genealógicos, eran en total novecientos cincuenta y seis, todos ellos jefes de sus familias patriarcales.
10 De los sacerdotes: Jedaías, Joyarib, Jaquín, 11 Azarías hijo de Jilquías, que era descendiente en línea directa de Mesulán, Sadoc, Merayot y Ajitob, que fue jefe del templo de Dios; 12 Adaías hijo de Jeroán, hijo de Pasur, hijo de Malquías; Masay hijo de Adiel, que era descendiente en línea directa de Jazera, Mesulán, Mesilemit e Imer, 13 y sus parientes, en total mil setecientos sesenta jefes de familias patriarcales y hombres muy capacitados para el servicio en el templo de Dios.
14 De los levitas: Semaías hijo de Jasub, que descendía en línea directa de Azricán, Jasabías y Merari; 15 Bacbacar, Heres, Galal y Matanías hijo de Micaías, hijo de Zicrí, hijo de Asaf; 16 Abdías hijo de Semaías, hijo de Galal, hijo de Jedutún; Berequías hijo de Asá, hijo de Elcaná, que habitó en las aldeas de los netofatitas.
17 Los porteros: Salún, Acub, Talmón y Ajimán, y sus parientes; Salún era el jefe. 18 Hasta ahora custodian la puerta del rey, que está al oriente, y han sido porteros de los campamentos levitas. 19 Además, Salún hijo de Coré, hijo de Ebiasaf, hijo de Coré, y sus parientes coreítas de la misma familia patriarcal estaban encargados de custodiar la entrada de la Tienda de reunión, tal como sus antepasados habían custodiado la entrada del campamento del Señor. 20 En el pasado, Finés hijo de Eleazar fue su jefe, y el Señor estuvo con él. 21 Zacarías hijo de Meselemías era el portero de la Tienda de reunión.
22 Los escogidos como porteros fueron un total de doscientos doce. En sus aldeas se encuentran sus registros genealógicos. David y Samuel el vidente les asignaron sus funciones. 23 Los porteros y sus hijos estaban encargados de custodiar la entrada de la tienda de campaña que se usaba como templo del Señor. 24 Había porteros en los cuatro puntos cardinales. 25 Cada siete días, sus parientes que vivían en las aldeas se turnaban para ayudarlos. 26 Los cuatro porteros principales estaban en servicio permanente. Eran levitas y custodiaban las salas y los tesoros del templo de Dios. 27 Durante la noche montaban guardia alrededor del templo, y por la mañana abrían sus puertas.
28 Algunos de ellos estaban encargados de los utensilios que se usaban en el servicio del templo, y debían contarlos al sacarlos y al guardarlos. 29 Otros estaban a cargo de los utensilios, de todos los vasos sagrados, de la harina, el vino, el aceite, el incienso y los perfumes. 30 Algunos de los sacerdotes preparaban la mezcla de los perfumes. 31 El levita Matatías, primogénito del coreíta Salún, estaba encargado de hacer las tortas para las ofrendas. 32 Algunos de sus parientes coatitas preparaban el pan consagrado para cada sábado.
33 También había cantores que eran jefes de familias patriarcales de los levitas, los cuales vivían en las habitaciones del templo. Estos estaban exentos de cualquier otro servicio, porque de día y de noche tenían que ocuparse de su ministerio.

35 En Gabaón vivía Jehiel, padre de Gabaón. Su esposa se llamaba Macá, 36 y sus hijos fueron Abdón, el primogénito; Zur, Quis, Baal, Ner, Nadab, 37 Guedor, Ajío, Zacarías y Miclot, 38 que fue padre de Simán. Estos también vivían en Jerusalén con sus parientes.
39 Ner fue el padre de Quis, Quis lo fue de Saúl, y Saúl lo fue de Jonatán, Malquisúa, Abinadab y Esbaal. 40 Jonatán fue el padre de Meribaal, y Meribaal lo fue de Micaías.
41 Los hijos de Micaías fueron Pitón, Mélec, Tarea y Acaz.[b] 42 Acaz fue el padre de Jará, y este lo fue de Alemet, Azmávet y Zimri. Zimri fue el padre de Mosá; 43 Mosá fue el padre de Biná, y este lo fue de Refaías; Refaías fue el padre de Elasá, y este lo fue de Azel.
44 Azel tuvo seis hijos, cuyos nombres fueron Azricán, Bocrú, Ismael, Searías, Abdías y Janán. Estos fueron los hijos de Azel.
