Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with a loyal heart they had (A)offered willingly to the Lord; and King David also rejoiced greatly.

David’s Praise to God

10 Therefore David blessed the Lord before all the assembly; and David said:

“Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever.
11 (B)Yours, O Lord, is the greatness,
The power and the glory,
The victory and the majesty;
For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours;
Yours is the kingdom, O Lord,
And You are exalted as head over all.
12 (C)Both riches and honor come from You,
And You reign over all.
In Your hand is power and might;
In Your hand it is to make great
And to give strength to all.

13 “Now therefore, our God,
We thank You
And praise Your glorious name.
14 But who am I, and who are my people,
That we should be able to offer so willingly as this?
For all things come from You,
And [a]of Your own we have given You.
15 For (D)we are [b]aliens and [c]pilgrims before You,
As were all our fathers;
(E)Our days on earth are as a shadow,
And without hope.

16 “O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name is from Your hand, and is all Your own. 17 I know also, my God, that You (F)test the heart and (G)have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here to offer willingly to You. 18 O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the intent of the thoughts of the heart of Your people, and fix their heart toward You.

17 (A)I love those who love me,
And (B)those who seek me diligently will find me.
18 (C)Riches and honor are with me,
Enduring riches and righteousness.
19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold,
And my revenue than choice silver.
20 I [a]traverse the way of righteousness,
In the midst of the paths of justice,
21 That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth,
That I may fill their treasuries.

22 “The(D) Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way,
Before His works of old.
23 (E)I have been established from everlasting,
From the beginning, before there was ever an earth.
24 When there were no depths I was brought forth,
When there were no fountains abounding with water.
25 (F)Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills, I was brought forth;
26 While as yet He had not made the earth or the [b]fields,
Or the [c]primal dust of the world.
27 When He prepared the heavens, I was there,
When He drew a circle on the face of the deep,
28 When He established the clouds above,
When He strengthened the fountains of the deep,
29 (G)When He assigned to the sea its limit,
So that the waters would not transgress His command,
When (H)He marked out the foundations of the earth,
30 (I)Then I was beside Him as [d]a master craftsman;
(J)And I was daily His delight,
Rejoicing always before Him,
31 Rejoicing in His inhabited world,
And (K)my delight was with the sons of men.

32 “Now therefore, listen to me, my children,
For (L)blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Hear instruction and be wise,
And do not disdain it.
34 (M)Blessed is the man who listens to me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at the posts of my doors.
35 For whoever finds me finds life,
And (N)obtains favor from the Lord;
36 But he who sins against me (O)wrongs his own soul;
All those who hate me love death.”

Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler(B)

16 (C)Now behold, one came and said to Him, (D)“Good[a] Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

17 So He said to him, [b]“Why do you call Me good? [c]No one is (E)good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, (F)keep the commandments.”

18 He said to Him, “Which ones?”

Jesus said, (G)“‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ 19 (H)‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, (I)‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have (J)kept [d]from my youth. What do I still lack?”

21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, (K)go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

With God All Things Are Possible(L)

23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that (M)it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but (N)with God all things are possible.”

27 Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, (O)we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?”

28 So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, (P)you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 (Q)And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother [e]or wife or children or [f]lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. 30 (R)But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
