Army Divisions
27 This is the list of the Israelites—heads of families, commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and their officers, who served the king in all that concerned the army divisions that were on duty month by month throughout the year. Each division consisted of 24,000 men.
2 In charge of the first division, for the first month, was Jashobeam(A) son of Zabdiel. There were 24,000 men in his division. 3 He was a descendant of Perez and chief of all the army officers for the first month.
4 In charge of the division for the second month was Dodai(B) the Ahohite; Mikloth was the leader of his division. There were 24,000 men in his division.
5 The third army commander, for the third month, was Benaiah(C) son of Jehoiada the priest. He was chief and there were 24,000 men in his division. 6 This was the Benaiah who was a mighty warrior among the Thirty and was over the Thirty. His son Ammizabad was in charge of his division.
7 The fourth, for the fourth month, was Asahel(D) the brother of Joab; his son Zebadiah was his successor. There were 24,000 men in his division.
8 The fifth, for the fifth month, was the commander Shamhuth(E) the Izrahite. There were 24,000 men in his division.
9 The sixth, for the sixth month, was Ira(F) the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite. There were 24,000 men in his division.
10 The seventh, for the seventh month, was Helez(G) the Pelonite, an Ephraimite. There were 24,000 men in his division.
11 The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sibbekai(H) the Hushathite, a Zerahite. There were 24,000 men in his division.
12 The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer(I) the Anathothite, a Benjamite. There were 24,000 men in his division.
13 The tenth, for the tenth month, was Maharai(J) the Netophathite, a Zerahite. There were 24,000 men in his division.
14 The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Benaiah(K) the Pirathonite, an Ephraimite. There were 24,000 men in his division.
15 The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Heldai(L) the Netophathite, from the family of Othniel.(M) There were 24,000 men in his division.
Leaders of the Tribes
16 The leaders of the tribes of Israel:
over the Reubenites: Eliezer son of Zikri;
over the Simeonites: Shephatiah son of Maakah;
17 over Levi: Hashabiah(N) son of Kemuel;
over Aaron: Zadok;(O)
18 over Judah: Elihu, a brother of David;
over Issachar: Omri son of Michael;
19 over Zebulun: Ishmaiah son of Obadiah;
over Naphtali: Jerimoth son of Azriel;
20 over the Ephraimites: Hoshea son of Azaziah;
over half the tribe of Manasseh: Joel son of Pedaiah;
21 over the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead: Iddo son of Zechariah;
over Benjamin: Jaasiel son of Abner;
22 over Dan: Azarel son of Jeroham.
These were the leaders of the tribes of Israel.
23 David did not take the number of the men twenty years old or less,(P) because the Lord had promised to make Israel as numerous as the stars(Q) in the sky. 24 Joab son of Zeruiah began to count the men but did not finish. God’s wrath came on Israel on account of this numbering,(R) and the number was not entered in the book[a] of the annals of King David.
The King’s Overseers
25 Azmaveth son of Adiel was in charge of the royal storehouses.
Jonathan son of Uzziah was in charge of the storehouses in the outlying districts, in the towns, the villages and the watchtowers.
26 Ezri son of Kelub was in charge of the workers who farmed the land.
27 Shimei the Ramathite was in charge of the vineyards.
Zabdi the Shiphmite was in charge of the produce of the vineyards for the wine vats.
28 Baal-Hanan the Gederite was in charge of the olive and sycamore-fig(S) trees in the western foothills.
Joash was in charge of the supplies of olive oil.
29 Shitrai the Sharonite was in charge of the herds grazing in Sharon.(T)
Shaphat son of Adlai was in charge of the herds in the valleys.
30 Obil the Ishmaelite was in charge of the camels.
Jehdeiah the Meronothite was in charge of the donkeys.
31 Jaziz the Hagrite(U) was in charge of the flocks.
All these were the officials in charge of King David’s property.
32 Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of insight and a scribe. Jehiel son of Hakmoni took care of the king’s sons.
33 Ahithophel(V) was the king’s counselor.
Hushai(W) the Arkite was the king’s confidant. 34 Ahithophel was succeeded by Jehoiada son of Benaiah and by Abiathar.(X)
Joab(Y) was the commander of the royal army.

27 La siguiente lista corresponde a los jefes patriarcales, a los comandantes de mil y de cien soldados y a los oficiales de las divisiones militares de Israel. Cada división constaba de veinticuatro mil hombres y se turnaban cada mes, durante todo el año, para prestar servicio al rey.
2 Al frente de la primera división de veinticuatro mil hombres, la cual prestaba su servicio en el primer mes, estaba Yasobeán, hijo de Zabdiel, 3 descendiente de Fares. Él era el jefe de todos los oficiales del ejército que hacían su turno el primer mes.
4 Al frente de la segunda división de veinticuatro mil, que prestaba su servicio en el segundo mes, estaba Doday el ajojita. El oficial a cargo de esa división era Miclot.
5 La tercera división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el tercer mes, tenía como comandante a Benaías, hijo del sumo sacerdote Joyadá. 6 Este Benaías fue uno de los treinta valientes y el jefe de ellos. En esa división estaba su hijo Amisabad.
7 La cuarta división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el cuarto mes, tenía como jefe a Asael, hermano de Joab. Su sucesor fue su hijo Zebadías.
8 La quinta división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el quinto mes, tenía como comandante a Samut el izraíta.
9 La sexta división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el sexto mes, tenía como jefe a Irá, hijo de Iqués el tecoíta.
10 La séptima división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el séptimo mes, tenía como jefe a Heles el pelonita, de los descendientes de Efraín.
11 La octava división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el octavo mes, tenía como jefe a Sibecay, de Jusá, descendiente de los zeraítas.
12 La novena división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el noveno mes, tenía como jefe a Abiezer, de Anatot, descendiente de Benjamín.
13 La décima división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el décimo mes, tenía como jefe a Maray, de Netofa, descendiente de los zeraítas.
14 La undécima división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el undécimo mes, tenía como jefe a Benaías, de Piratón, descendiente de Efraín.
15 La duodécima división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el duodécimo mes, tenía como jefe a Jelday, de Netofa, descendiente de Otoniel.

16 Los siguientes fueron los jefes de las tribus de Israel:
de Rubén: Eliezer, hijo de Zicrí;

17 de Leví: Jasabías, hijo de Quemuel;

18 de Judá: Eliú, hermano de David;
de Isacar: Omrí, hijo de Micael;

de Neftalí: Jerimot, hijo de Azriel;
20 de Efraín: Oseas, hijo de Azazías;
de la media tribu de Manasés: Joel, hijo de Pedaías;
21 de la otra media tribu de Manasés que estaba en Galaad: Idó, hijo de Zacarías;
de Benjamín: Jasiel, hijo de Abner;
22 de Dan: Azarel, hijo de Jeroán.
Estos eran los líderes de las tribus de Israel.
23 David no censó a los hombres que tenían menos de veinte años porque el Señor había prometido que haría a Israel tan numeroso como las estrellas del cielo. 24 Joab, hijo de Sarvia, comenzó a hacer el censo, pero no lo terminó porque eso desató la ira de Dios sobre Israel. Por eso no quedó registrado el número en las crónicas del rey David.
Superintendentes del rey
25 El encargado de los tesoros del rey era Azmávet, hijo de Adiel.
El encargado de los tesoros en los campos, ciudades, aldeas y fortalezas era Jonatán, hijo de Uzías.
26 Ezrí, hijo de Quelub, estaba al frente de los agricultores.
27 Simí, de Ramat, estaba a cargo de los viñedos.
Zabdí, de Sefán, era el encargado de almacenar el vino en las bodegas.
28 Baal Janán, de Géder, estaba a cargo de los olivares y de los bosques de higueras de la llanura.
Joás tenía a su cargo los depósitos de aceite.
29 Sitray, de Sarón, estaba a cargo del ganado que pastaba en Sarón.
Safat, hijo de Adlay, estaba a cargo del ganado de los valles.
30 Obil, el ismaelita, era el encargado de los camellos.
Jehedías, de Meronot, era el encargado de las burras.
31 Jaziz, el agareno, era el encargado de las ovejas.
Todos estos eran los oficiales a cargo de los bienes del rey.
32 Jonatán, tío de David, escriba inteligente, era consejero del rey.
Jehiel, hijo de Jacmoní, cuidaba a los príncipes.
33 Ajitofel era otro consejero del rey.
Husay, el arquita, era hombre de confianza del rey.
34 A Ajitofel lo sucedieron Joyadá, hijo de Benaías, y Abiatar.

27 This is the number of the people of Israel, the heads of fathers' houses, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and their officers who served the king in all matters concerning the divisions that came and went, month after month throughout the year, each division numbering 24,000:
2 (A)Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel was in charge of the first division in the first month; in his division were 24,000. 3 He was a (B)descendant of Perez and was chief of all the commanders. He served for the first month. 4 (C)Dodai the Ahohite[a] was in charge of the division of the second month; in his division were 24,000. 5 The third commander, for the third month, was (D)Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada the chief priest; in his division were 24,000. 6 This is the Benaiah (E)who was a mighty man of the thirty and in command of the thirty; Ammizabad his son was in charge of his division.[b] 7 (F)Asahel the brother of Joab was fourth, for the fourth month, and his son Zebadiah after him; in his division were 24,000. 8 The fifth commander, for the fifth month, was (G)Shamhuth the Izrahite; in his division were 24,000. 9 Sixth, for the sixth month, was (H)Ira, the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite; in his division were 24,000. 10 Seventh, for the seventh month, was (I)Helez the Pelonite, of the sons of Ephraim; in his division were 24,000. 11 Eighth, for the eighth month, was (J)Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites; in his division were 24,000. 12 Ninth, for the ninth month, was (K)Abiezer of Anathoth, a Benjaminite; in his division were 24,000. 13 Tenth, for the tenth month, was (L)Maharai of Netophah, of the Zerahites; in his division were 24,000. 14 Eleventh, for the eleventh month, was (M)Benaiah of Pirathon, of the sons of Ephraim; in his division were 24,000. 15 Twelfth, for the twelfth month, was (N)Heldai the Netophathite, of (O)Othniel; in his division were 24,000.

These were the (R)leaders of the tribes of Israel. 23 David did not count those below twenty years of age, for the (S)Lord had promised to make Israel as many as the stars of heaven. 24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to count, but (T)did not finish. Yet (U)wrath came upon Israel for this, and the number was not entered in the chronicles of King David.
25 Over the king's treasuries was (V)Azmaveth the son of Adiel; and over the treasuries in the country, in the cities, in the villages, and in the towers, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah; 26 and over those who did the work of the field for tilling the soil was Ezri the son of Chelub; 27 and over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite; and over the produce of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite. 28 Over the olive and (W)sycamore trees in the Shephelah was Baal-hanan the Gederite; and over the stores of oil was Joash. 29 Over the herds that pastured in (X)Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite; over the herds in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai. 30 Over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the donkeys was Jehdeiah the Meronothite. 31 Over the flocks was Jaziz the (Y)Hagrite. All these were stewards of King David's property.
32 Jonathan, David's uncle, was a counselor, being a man of understanding and a scribe. He and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni attended the king's sons. 33 (Z)Ahithophel was the (AA)king's counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king's friend. 34 Ahithophel was succeeded by Jehoiada the son of (AB)Benaiah, and (AC)Abiathar. Joab was (AD)commander of the king's army.
