The Divisions of the Priests
24 The divisions of the descendants of Aaron were as follows: Aaron’s sons were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.(A) 2 But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and they had no sons, so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.(B) 3 Together with Zadok(C) from the descendants of Eleazar and Ahimelech from the descendants of Ithamar, David divided them according to the assigned duties of their service. 4 Since more leaders were found among Eleazar’s descendants than Ithamar’s, they were divided accordingly: sixteen heads of ancestral families[a] were from Eleazar’s descendants, and eight heads of ancestral families were from Ithamar’s. 5 They(D) were assigned by lot, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both Eleazar’s and Ithamar’s descendants.
6 The secretary, Shemaiah son of Nethanel, a Levite, recorded them in the presence of the king and the officers, the priest Zadok, Ahimelech(E) son of Abiathar, and the heads of families of the priests and the Levites. One ancestral family[b] was taken for Eleazar, and then one for Ithamar.
7 The first lot fell to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
8 the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,
9 the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,
10 the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,(F)
11 the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,
12 the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,
13 the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,
14 the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,
15 the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez,
16 the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel,
17 the twenty-first to Jachin, the twenty-second to Gamul,
18 the twenty-third to Delaiah, and the twenty-fourth to Maaziah.
19 These had their assigned duties for service when they entered the Lord’s temple, according to their regulations, which they received from their ancestor Aaron, as the Lord God of Israel had commanded him.
The Rest of the Levites
20 As for the rest of Levi’s sons:
from Amram’s sons: Shubael;
from Shubael’s sons: Jehdeiah.
21 From Rehabiah:
from Rehabiah’s sons: Isshiah was the first.
22 From the Izharites: Shelomoth;
from Shelomoth’s sons: Jahath.
Jeriah the first, Amariah the second,
Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
24 From Uzziel’s sons: Micah;
from Micah’s sons: Shamir.
25 Micah’s brother: Isshiah;
from Isshiah’s sons: Zechariah.
26 Merari’s sons: Mahli and Mushi,
and from his sons, Jaaziah his son.[d]
27 Merari’s sons, by his son Jaaziah:[e]
Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.
28 From Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons.
29 From Kish, from Kish’s sons: Jerahmeel.
30 Mushi’s sons: Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth.
Those were the descendants of the Levites according to their ancestral families.[f] 31 They also cast lots the same way as their relatives the descendants of Aaron did in the presence of King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of the families of the priests and Levites—the family heads and their younger brothers alike.(H)

24 Los descendientes de Aarón se organizaron de la siguiente manera:
Los hijos de Aarón fueron Nadab, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar. 2 Nadab y Abiú murieron antes que su padre y no tuvieron hijos, así que Eleazar e Itamar ejercieron el sacerdocio. 3 Con la ayuda de Sadoc, descendiente de Eleazar, y de Ajimélec, descendiente de Itamar, David organizó a los sacerdotes por turnos para el desempeño de sus funciones. 4 Como había más jefes entre los descendientes de Eleazar que entre los de Itamar, los organizaron así: dieciséis jefes de las familias patriarcales de los descendientes de Eleazar y ocho jefes de los descendientes de Itamar. 5 La distribución se hizo por sorteo, pues tanto los descendientes de Eleazar como los de Itamar tenían oficiales del santuario y oficiales de Dios.
6 El cronista Semaías, hijo de Natanael, que era levita, registró sus nombres en presencia del rey y de los oficiales, del sacerdote Sadoc, de Ajimélec, hijo de Abiatar, de los jefes de las familias patriarcales de los sacerdotes y de los levitas. La suerte se echó dos veces por la familia de Eleazar y una vez por la familia de Itamar.
7 La primera suerte le tocó a Joyarib;
la segunda, a Jedaías;
8 la tercera, a Jarín;
la cuarta, a Seorín;
9 la quinta, a Malquías;
la sexta, a Mijamín;
10 la séptima, a Cos;
la octava, a Abías;
11 la novena, a Jesúa;
la décima, a Secanías;
12 la undécima, a Eliasib;
la duodécima, a Yaquín;
13 la decimotercera, a Hupá;
la decimocuarta, a Jesebab;
14 la decimoquinta, a Bilgá;
la decimosexta, a Imer;
15 la decimoséptima, a Hezir;
la decimoctava, a Afsés;
16 la decimonovena, a Petaías;
la vigésima, a Ezequiel;
17 la vigesimoprimera, a Jaquín;
la vigesimosegunda, a Gamul;
18 la vigesimotercera, a Delaías;
la vigesimocuarta, a Maazías.
19 Así fue como se organizaron los turnos para el servicio en el Templo del Señor, tal como el Señor, Dios de Israel, lo había ordenado por medio de Aarón, antepasado de ellos.

20 La siguiente es la lista del resto de los descendientes de Leví:
de los descendientes de Amirán, Subael;
de los descendientes de Subael, Jehedías;
21 de los descendientes de Rejabías, Isías, el hijo mayor;
22 de los descendientes de Izar, Selomot;
de los descendientes de Selomot, Yajat;
23 de los hijos de Hebrón:
el primero,[a] Jerías; el segundo, Amarías; el tercero, Jahaziel, y el cuarto, Jecamán;
24 de los descendientes de Uziel, Micaías;
de los descendientes de Micaías, Samir;
25 Isías, hermano de Micaías;
de los descendientes de Isías, Zacarías;
26 de los descendientes de Merari, Majlí y Musí;
Benó, hijo de Jazías.
27 De entre los descendientes de Merari:
de Jazías: Benó, Soján, Zacur e Ibrí;
28 de Majlí: Eleazar, quien no tuvo hijos;
29 de Quis: su hijo Jeramel;
30 y los hijos de Musí: Majlí, Éder y Jerimot.
Estos eran los hijos de los levitas por sus familias patriarcales.
31 Al igual que a sus hermanos los descendientes de Aarón, también a ellos los repartieron por sorteo en presencia del rey David y de Sadoc, de Ajimélec y de los jefes de las familias patriarcales de los sacerdotes y de los levitas. A las familias de los hermanos mayores las trataron de la misma manera que a las de los hermanos menores.
