5 When the (A)Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand of the Syrians. 6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought tribute. So the Lord preserved David wherever he went. 7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

5 Then the Arameans of [a]Damascus came to help Hadadezer king (A)of Zobah. And David struck down 22,000 men of the Arameans. 6 Then David placed garrisons among the Arameans of [b]Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And Yahweh granted salvation to David wherever he went. 7 And David took the small shields of gold which were [c]carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
