¹⁷ The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpach′shad, Lud, Aram, Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshech. ¹⁸ Arpach′shad was the father of Shelah; and Shelah was the father of Eber. ¹⁹ To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg (for in his days the earth was divided), and the name of his brother Joktan. ²⁰ Joktan was the father of Almo′dad, Sheleph, Hazarma′veth, Jerah, ²¹ Hador′am, Uzal, Diklah, ²² Ebal, Abim′a-el, Sheba, ²³ Ophir, Hav′ilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.
