Довуд мстит амаликитянам
30 Довуд и его люди добрались до Циклага на третий день. Амаликитяне совершили набег на южные земли и на Циклаг. Они напали на Циклаг, сожгли его 2 и взяли в плен женщин и всех, кто там был, от мала до велика. Они не убили никого из них, но увели их с собой.
3 Когда Довуд и его люди пришли в Циклаг, они увидели, что он уничтожен огнём, а их жёны, сыновья и дочери взяты в плен. 4 Довуд и его люди громко плакали до тех пор, пока у них не осталось сил плакать. 5 В плен были взяты и обе жены Довуда – Ахиноамь из Изрееля и Авигайль, вдова Навала из Кармила. 6 Довуд был в большой тревоге, потому что народ сговаривался побить его камнями, каждый горевал по своим детям. Но Довуд укрепился в Вечном, своём Боге.
7 Довуд сказал священнослужителю Авиатару, сыну Ахи-Малика:
– Принеси мне ефод.
Авиатар принёс, 8 и Довуд спросил Вечного:
– Гнаться ли мне за этим войском? Догоню ли я их?
– Гонись за ними, – ответил Вечный. – Ты непременно догонишь и освободишь пленённых людей.
9 Довуд и с ним шестьсот человек пришли к реке Бесору, где некоторые остановились, 10 потому что двести человек были слишком утомлены, чтобы перебраться через реку. Но Довуд и четыреста человек продолжили погоню.
11 Они встретили в поле одного египтянина и привели его к Довуду. Они дали ему хлеба и напоили его водой, 12 ещё они дали ему инжир и две связки изюма. Он поел, и к нему вернулись силы, потому что он не ел хлеба и не пил воды три дня и три ночи.
13 Довуд спросил его:
– Чей ты и откуда пришёл?
Он ответил:
– Я египтянин, раб одного амаликитянина. Мой господин оставил меня, когда я заболел три дня назад. 14 Мы совершили набег на южные земли: на керетитов, на иудеев и на потомков Халева. Ещё мы сожгли Циклаг.
15 Довуд спросил его:
– Ты можешь провести меня к этому войску?
Он ответил:
– Поклянись мне Всевышним, что не убьёшь меня и не вернёшь моему господину, и я проведу тебя к нему.
16 Когда он привёл Довуда, амаликитяне, рассеявшись по всей округе, ели, пили и праздновали, потому что в земле филистимлян и в Иудее они взяли огромную добычу. 17 Довуд сражался с ними с сумерек до вечера следующего дня, и никто из них не скрылся, кроме четырёхсот юношей, которые сели на верблюдов и бежали. 18 Довуд вернул всё, что забрали амаликитяне, и освободил двух своих жён. 19 Ничего не пропало: ни малого, ни большого, ни сыновей, ни дочерей, ни добычи – ничего из того, что было отнято. Довуд вернул всё. 20 Он забрал все отары и стада, и его люди гнали их впереди остального скота, говоря:
– Это добыча Довуда.

21 Довуд пришёл к тем двум сотням человек, которые были слишком утомлены, чтобы идти за ним, и которых оставили у реки Бесора. Они вышли навстречу Довуду и людям, бывшим с ним. Когда Довуд приблизился к этим людям, он приветствовал их. 22 Но все злые и недостойные люди, из тех, кто пошёл за Довудом, говорили:
– Они не выходили с нами, и мы не будем делиться с ними добычей, которую отвоевали. Каждый может взять только свою жену и детей и идти.
23 Довуд ответил:
– Нет, братья мои, не распоряжайтесь так тем, что дал нам Вечный. Он защитил нас и отдал в наши руки войско, которое выступило против нас. 24 Кто станет слушать вас в этом деле? Доля человека, который остался с обозом, должна быть такой же, как доля того, кто ходил сражаться. Разделить нужно всем поровну.
25 С того дня и впредь Довуд сделал это законом и правилом, оно действует и до сегодняшнего дня.
26 Когда Довуд пришёл в Циклаг, он послал часть добычи старейшинам Иудеи, которые были его друзьями, говоря:
– Вот вам подарок из добычи, взятой у врагов Вечного.
27 Он послал её тем, кто были в Вефиле, Рамоте Негевском, Иаттире, 28 Ароере, Сифмоте, Эштемоа, 29 Ракале, в городах иерахмеелитов и кенеев, 30 в Хорме, Бор-Ашане, Атахе, 31 Хевроне и во всех местах, где скитались Довуд и его люди.

30 Lorsque David arriva le troisième jour à Tsiklag avec ses gens, les Amalécites avaient fait une invasion dans le midi et à Tsiklag. Ils avaient détruit et brûlé Tsiklag,
2 après avoir fait prisonniers les femmes et tous ceux qui s'y trouvaient, petits et grands. Ils n'avaient tué personne, mais ils avaient tout emmené et s'étaient remis en route.
3 David et ses gens arrivèrent à la ville, et voici, elle était brûlée; et leurs femmes, leurs fils et leurs filles, étaient emmenés captifs.
4 Alors David et le peuple qui était avec lui élevèrent la voix et pleurèrent jusqu'à ce qu'ils n'eussent plus la force de pleurer.
5 Les deux femmes de David avaient été emmenées, Achinoam de Jizreel, et Abigaïl de Carmel, femme de Nabal.
6 David fut dans une grande angoisse, car le peuple parlait de le lapider, parce que tous avaient de l'amertume dans l'âme, chacun à cause de ses fils et de ses filles. Mais David reprit courage en s'appuyant sur l'Éternel, son Dieu.
7 Il dit au sacrificateur Abiathar, fils d'Achimélec: Apporte-moi donc l'éphod! Abiathar apporta l'éphod à David.
8 Et David consulta l'Éternel, en disant: Poursuivrai-je cette troupe? l'atteindrai-je? L'Éternel lui répondit: Poursuis, car tu atteindras, et tu délivreras.
9 Et David se mit en marche, lui et les six cents hommes qui étaient avec lui. Ils arrivèrent au torrent de Besor, où s'arrêtèrent ceux qui restaient en arrière.
10 David continua la poursuite avec quatre cents hommes; deux cents hommes s'arrêtèrent, trop fatigués pour passer le torrent de Besor.
11 Ils trouvèrent dans les champs un homme égyptien, qu'ils conduisirent auprès de David. Ils lui firent manger du pain et boire de l'eau,
12 et ils lui donnèrent un morceau d'une masse de figues sèches et deux masses de raisins secs. Après qu'il eut mangé, les forces lui revinrent, car il n'avait point pris de nourriture et point bu d'eau depuis trois jours et trois nuits.
13 David lui dit: A qui es-tu, et d'où es-tu? Il répondit: Je suis un garçon égyptien, au service d'un homme amalécite, et voilà trois jours que mon maître m'a abandonné parce que j'étais malade.
14 Nous avons fait une invasion dans le midi des Kéréthiens, sur le territoire de Juda et au midi de Caleb, et nous avons brûlé Tsiklag.
15 David lui dit: Veux-tu me faire descendre vers cette troupe? Et il répondit: Jure-moi par le nom de Dieu que tu ne me tueras pas et que tu ne me livreras pas à mon maître, et je te ferai descendre vers cette troupe.
16 Il lui servit ainsi de guide. Et voici, les Amalécites étaient répandus sur toute la contrée, mangeant, buvant et dansant, à cause du grand butin qu'ils avaient enlevé du pays des Philistins et du pays de Juda.
17 David les battit depuis l'aube du jour jusqu'au soir du lendemain, et aucun d'eux n'échappa, excepté quatre cents jeunes hommes qui montèrent sur des chameaux et s'enfuirent.
18 David sauva tout ce que les Amalécites avaient pris, et il délivra aussi ses deux femmes.
19 Il ne leur manqua personne, ni petit ni grand, ni fils ni fille, ni aucune chose du butin, ni rien de ce qu'on leur avait enlevé: David ramena tout.
20 Et David prit tout le menu et le gros bétail; et ceux qui conduisaient ce troupeau et marchaient à sa tête disaient: C'est ici le butin de David.
21 David arriva auprès des deux cents hommes qui avaient été trop fatigués pour le suivre, et qu'on avait laissés au torrent de Besor. Ils s'avancèrent à la rencontre de David et du peuple qui était avec lui. David s'approcha d'eux, et leur demanda comment ils se trouvaient.
22 Tous les hommes méchants et vils parmi les gens qui étaient allés avec David prirent la parole et dirent: Puisqu'ils ne sont pas venus avec nous, nous ne leur donnerons rien du butin que nous avons sauvé, sinon à chacun sa femme et ses enfants; qu'ils les emmènent, et s'en aillent.
23 Mais David dit: N'agissez pas ainsi, mes frères, au sujet de ce que l'Éternel nous a donné; car il nous a gardés, et il a livré entre nos mains la troupe qui était venue contre nous.
24 Et qui vous écouterait dans cette affaire? La part doit être la même pour celui qui est descendu sur le champ de bataille et pour celui qui est resté près des bagages: ensemble ils partageront.
25 Il en fut ainsi dès ce jour et dans la suite, et l'on a fait de cela jusqu'à ce jour une loi et une coutume en Israël.
26 De retour à Tsiklag, David envoya une partie du butin aux anciens de Juda, à ses amis, en leur adressant ces paroles: Voici pour vous un présent sur le butin des ennemis de l'Éternel!
27 Il fit ainsi des envois à ceux de Béthel, à ceux de Ramoth du midi, à ceux de Jatthir,
28 à ceux d'Aroër, à ceux de Siphmoth, à ceux d'Eschthemoa,
29 à ceux de Racal, à ceux des villes des Jerachmeélites, à ceux des villes des Kéniens,
30 à ceux de Horma, à ceux de Cor Aschan, à ceux d'Athac,
31 à ceux d'Hébron, et dans tous les lieux que David et ses gens avaient parcourus.

30 Y aconteció que cuando David y sus hombres(A) llegaron a Siclag al tercer día, los amalecitas(B) habían hecho una incursión en el Neguev[a] y contra Siclag(C), y habían asolado[b] a Siclag y la habían incendiado; 2 y se llevaron cautivas las mujeres y a todos los que estaban en ella, grandes y pequeños, sin dar muerte[c] a nadie(D); se los llevaron y siguieron su camino. 3 Cuando llegaron David y sus hombres a la ciudad, he aquí que había sido quemada, y que sus mujeres, sus hijos y sus hijas habían sido llevados cautivos. 4 Entonces David y la gente que estaba con él alzaron su voz y lloraron, hasta que no les quedaron fuerzas para llorar(E). 5 Las dos mujeres de David, Ahinoam jezreelita y Abigail, la viuda[d] de Nabal, el de Carmel(F), habían sido llevadas cautivas. 6 Y David estaba muy angustiado porque la gente hablaba de apedrearlo, pues todo el pueblo estaba amargado[e](G), cada uno a causa de sus hijos y de sus hijas. Mas David se fortaleció en el Señor su Dios(H).
7 Entonces dijo David al sacerdote Abiatar, hijo de Ahimelec(I): Te ruego que me traigas el efod. Y Abiatar llevó el efod a David(J). 8 Y David consultó al Señor(K), diciendo: ¿Perseguiré a esta banda? ¿Podré alcanzarlos(L)? Y Él le respondió: Persíguelos, porque de cierto los alcanzarás y sin duda rescatarás(M) a todos. 9 Partió, pues, David, él y los seiscientos hombres que estaban con él(N), y llegaron hasta el torrente Besor, donde se quedaron algunos rezagados. 10 Pero David siguió adelante[f], él y cuatrocientos hombres, porque doscientos, que estaban demasiado fatigados para cruzar el torrente Besor(O), se quedaron atrás.
11 Y hallaron en el campo a un egipcio y se lo llevaron a David; le dieron pan y comió, y le dieron a beber agua. 12 También le dieron un pedazo de torta de higos y dos racimos de uvas pasas y comió, y su espíritu se reanimó[g](P); porque no había comido pan ni bebido agua en tres días y tres noches. 13 Y David le dijo: ¿De quién eres tú, y de dónde eres? Y él dijo: Soy un joven de Egipto, siervo de un amalecita; mi amo me dejó atrás cuando me enfermé hace tres días. 14 Hicimos una incursión contra el Neguev de los cereteos(Q), contra el de Judá y contra el Neguev de Caleb(R), y pusimos fuego a Siclag(S). 15 Entonces David le dijo: ¿Me llevarás a esa banda? Y él respondió: Júrame por Dios que no me matarás ni me entregarás en manos de mi amo, y te llevaré a esa banda.
16 Cuando lo llevó, he aquí que estaban desparramados[h] sobre toda aquella[i] tierra, comiendo, bebiendo y bailando[j](T) por el gran botín que habían tomado de la tierra de los filisteos y de la tierra de Judá(U). 17 Y los hirió David desde el anochecer hasta[k] el atardecer del[l] día siguiente(V), ninguno de ellos escapó, excepto cuatrocientos jóvenes que montaron en camellos y huyeron(W). 18 David recuperó todo lo que los amalecitas habían tomado, también rescató[m] a sus dos mujeres(X). 19 Nada de lo que era de ellos les faltó, pequeño o grande, hijos o hijas, botín o cualquier cosa que habían tomado para sí; David lo recuperó todo(Y). 20 David tomó también todas las ovejas y el ganado de los amalecitas, llevándolos delante de los otros[n] ganados, y decían: Este es el botín de David(Z).
21 Cuando David llegó a donde estaban los doscientos hombres que, demasiado fatigados para seguir a David, se habían quedado en el torrente Besor(AA), estos salieron al encuentro de David y del[o] pueblo que estaba con él, y David se acercó al pueblo y los saludó. 22 Entonces todos los hombres malvados e indignos de entre los que habían ido con David respondieron, y dijeron: Porque no fueron con nosotros[p], no les daremos nada del botín que hemos recuperado, sino a cada hombre su mujer y sus hijos, para que se los lleven y se vayan. 23 Pero David dijo: No debéis hacer así, hermanos míos, con lo que nos ha dado el Señor, quien nos ha guardado y ha entregado en nuestra mano la banda que vino contra nosotros. 24 ¿Y quién os escuchará sobre este asunto? Porque conforme a la parte del que desciende a la batalla, así será la parte del que queda con el bagaje; ellos recibirán lo mismo(AB). 25 Y así ha sido desde aquel día en adelante, en que él lo estableció como estatuto y ordenanza para Israel hasta el día de hoy.
26 Cuando llegó David a Siclag, mandó parte del botín a los ancianos de Judá, sus amigos, diciendo: He aquí un presente[q](AC) para vosotros del botín de los enemigos del Señor(AD). 27 Y lo envió a los de[r] Betel(AE), a los de Ramot del Neguev(AF), a los de Jatir(AG), 28 a los de Aroer(AH), a los de Sifmot, a los de Estemoa(AI), 29 a los de Racal, a los de las ciudades de Jerameel(AJ), a los de las ciudades del ceneo(AK), 30 a los de Horma(AL), a los de Corasán[s](AM), a los de Atac, 31 a los de Hebrón(AN) y a todos los lugares por donde David y sus hombres habían andado(AO).

David Destroys the Amalekites
30 David and his men reached Ziklag(A) on the third day. Now the Amalekites(B) had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned(C) it, 2 and had taken captive the women and everyone else in it, both young and old. They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way.
3 When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.(D) 4 So David and his men wept(E) aloud until they had no strength left to weep. 5 David’s two wives(F) had been captured—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel. 6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning(G) him; each one was bitter(H) in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength(I) in the Lord his God.
7 Then David said to Abiathar(J) the priest, the son of Ahimelek, “Bring me the ephod.(K)” Abiathar brought it to him, 8 and David inquired(L) of the Lord, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?”
“Pursue them,” he answered. “You will certainly overtake them and succeed(M) in the rescue.(N)”
9 David and the six hundred men(O) with him came to the Besor Valley, where some stayed behind. 10 Two hundred of them were too exhausted(P) to cross the valley, but David and the other four hundred continued the pursuit.
11 They found an Egyptian in a field and brought him to David. They gave him water to drink and food to eat— 12 part of a cake of pressed figs and two cakes of raisins. He ate and was revived,(Q) for he had not eaten any food or drunk any water for three days and three nights.
13 David asked him, “Who do you belong to? Where do you come from?”
He said, “I am an Egyptian, the slave of an Amalekite.(R) My master abandoned me when I became ill three days ago. 14 We raided the Negev of the Kerethites,(S) some territory belonging to Judah and the Negev of Caleb.(T) And we burned(U) Ziklag.”
15 David asked him, “Can you lead me down to this raiding party?”
He answered, “Swear to me before God that you will not kill me or hand me over to my master,(V) and I will take you down to them.”
16 He led David down, and there they were, scattered over the countryside, eating, drinking and reveling(W) because of the great amount of plunder(X) they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from Judah. 17 David fought(Y) them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled.(Z) 18 David recovered(AA) everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. 19 Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. 20 He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, “This is David’s plunder.”
21 Then David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted(AB) to follow him and who were left behind at the Besor Valley. They came out to meet David and the men with him. As David and his men approached, he asked them how they were. 22 But all the evil men and troublemakers among David’s followers said, “Because they did not go out with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered. However, each man may take his wife and children and go.”
23 David replied, “No, my brothers, you must not do that with what the Lord has given us. He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiding party that came against us. 24 Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike.(AC)” 25 David made this a statute and ordinance for Israel from that day to this.
26 When David reached Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah, who were his friends, saying, “Here is a gift(AD) for you from the plunder of the Lord’s enemies.”
27 David sent it to those who were in Bethel,(AE) Ramoth(AF) Negev and Jattir;(AG) 28 to those in Aroer,(AH) Siphmoth,(AI) Eshtemoa(AJ) 29 and Rakal; to those in the towns of the Jerahmeelites(AK) and the Kenites;(AL) 30 to those in Hormah,(AM) Bor Ashan,(AN) Athak 31 and Hebron;(AO) and to those in all the other places where he and his men had roamed.
