Jesus and Nicodemus

3 There was a man from the Pharisees^(A) named Nicodemus,^(B) a ruler^(C) of the Jews.

⁵ But some of the believers from the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to command them to keep the law of Moses!”

³ He^(A) continued, “I am a Jewish man, born in Tarsus of Cilicia but brought up in this city^[a] at the feet of Gamaliel^(B) and educated according to the strict view of our patriarchal law. Being zealous for God, just as all of you are today,^(C)
