ט כשתקע המלאך החמישי בשופרו ראיתי כוכב נופל ארצה מן השמים, וניתן לו מפתח התהום. 2 כשפתח את פי התהום עלה עשן סמיך, כעשן שעולה מכבשן ענק, אשר החשיך את השמש והשמים.
3 מתוך העשן יצא ארבה וירד על הארץ. לארבה ניתן שלטון וכוח כמו לעקרבי-הארץ.
4 נאמר להם לא להשחית את צמחיית הארץ – לא לפגוע בעצים, בפרחים או בעשבים, אלא רק בבני-האדם שלא נשאו על מצחם את חותם אלוהים. 5 לא ניתן לארבה כוח להמית אנשים אלה, אלא רק לייסרם בכאב של עקיצות עקרב במשך חמישה חודשים. 6 בימים ההם ירצו בני-האדם להתאבד, אך לא יוכלו; הם ישתוקקו למות, אך המוות יברח מפניהם!
7 הארבה דמה במראהו לסוסים ערוכים למלחמה; פניהם כפני אדם, על ראשם מעין כתר זהב, 8 שערם כשיער אישה ושיניהם כשיני אריה. 9 הם לבשו שריונים שנראו כעשויים ברזל, וקול כנפיהם נשמע כקול המון מרכבות סוסים ערוכים למלחמה. 10 זנבות הארבה היו כזנבות עקרבים, בעלי עוקץ בקצה, ובהם טמון הכוח לייסר את בני-האדם במשך חמישה חודשים. 11 מלכם הוא מלך התהום הנקרא בעברית "אבדון", וביוונית – "אפוליון".
12 אסון אחד חלף, אך שניים אחרים באים בעקבותיו.
13 כשתקע המלאך השישי בשופרו, שמעתי קול מארבע קרנות מזבח הזהב אשר לפני אלוהים. 14 הקול דיבר אל המלאך השישי שזה עתה תקע בשופרו: "שחרר את ארבעת המלאכים האסורים בנהר הגדול פרת." 15 ארבעת המלאכים הוכנו לאותה שנה, לאותו חודש, לאותו יום ולאותה שעה, ועתה שוחררו כדי להמית שליש מכל בני-האדם. 16 שמעתי שהנהיגו צבא של 200,000,000 פרשים.
17 כך נראו הסוסים והפרשים בחזיון שראיתי: חלק מהפרשים לבשו שריון בצבע אדום כאש, חלק אחר לבשו שריון בצבע תכלת, והשאר לבשו שריון בצבע צהוב כגופרית. ראשי הסוסים היו כראשי אריות ומפיהם יצאו גופרית, אש ועשן. 18 במגפות הגופרית, האש והעשן הם המיתו שליש מכל בני-האדם. 19 כוח ההמתה שלהם לא היה בפיהם בלבד, אלא גם בזנבותיהם, שכן זנבותיהם דמו לראשי נחשים שהכישו והמיתו את קורבנותיהם.
20 יתר בני-האדם, שלא מתו במגפות האלה, עדיין סירבו לחזור בתשובה ולשרת את ה'. הם המשיכו במעשיהם המושחתים, ובסגידה לשדים ולאלילים העשויים זהב, כסף, נחושת ועץ. אכן, הם השתחוו לאלילים שאינם מסוגלים לראות, לשמוע או להלך. 21 הם אף המשיכו לרצוח, לעסוק בכישוף, לגנוב ולזנות.

9 وَلَمَّا نَفَخَ الْمَلاكُ الْخَامِسُ فِي بُوقِهِ، رَأَيْتُ نَجْماً قَدْ هَوَى مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ، وَأُعْطِيَ مِفْتَاحَ الْهَاوِيَةِ السَّحِيقَةِ. 2 فَلَمَّا فَتَحَهَا انْدَفَعَ الدُّخَانُ كَأَنَّهُ مِنْ أَتُونٍ عَظِيمٍ، فَأَظْلَمَتِ الشَّمْسُ وَالْجَوُّ مِنْ هَذَا الدُّخَانِ. 3 وَطَلَعَ مِنَ الدُّخَانِ جَرَادٌ عَلَى الأَرْضِ، وَأُعْطِيَ سُلْطَةً أَنْ يَلْسَعَ كَالْعَقَارِبِ، 4 وَأُمِرَ أَلّا يَضُرَّ عُشْبَ الأَرْضِ وَلا مَزْرُوعَاتِهَا وَلا أَشْجَارَهَا بَلْ فَقَطْ جَمِيعَ مَنْ لَيْسَ عَلَى جِبَاهِهِمْ خَتْمُ اللهِ، 5 فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ دُونَ أَنْ يَقْتُلَهُمْ، مُدَّةَ خَمْسَةِ أَشْهُرٍ. وَالأَلَمُ الَّذِي يُسَبِّبُهُ يُشْبِهُ أَلَمَ لَدْغَةِ الْعَقْرَبِ. 6 وَفِي أَثْنَاءِ تِلْكَ الشُّهُورِ يُحَاوِلُ النَّاسُ أَنْ يَتَخَلَّصُوا مِنْ حَيَاتِهِمْ فَلا يَقْدِرُونَ! وَيَتَمَنَّوْنَ أَنْ يَمُوتُوا، لَكِنَّ الْمَوْتَ يَهْرُبُ مِنْهُمْ. 7 وَيَبْدُو هَذَا الْجَرَادُ كَأَنَّهُ خَيْلٌ مُجَهَّزَةٌ لِلْقِتَالِ، عَلَى رُؤُوسِهِ مَا يُشْبِهُ أَكَالِيلَ الذَّهَبِ، وَوُجُوهُهُ كَوُجُوهِ الْبَشَرِ، 8 وَلَهُ شَعْرٌ طَوِيلٌ كَشَعْرِ النِّسَاءِ، وَأَسْنَانُهُ كَأَسْنَانِ الأُسُودِ، 9 وَصُدُورُهُ كَدُرُوعٍ حَدِيدِيَّةٍ، وَحَفِيفُ أَجْنِحَتِهِ كَضَجِيجِ مَرْكَبَاتِ خَيْلٍ تَجْرِي إِلَى الْقِتَالِ، 10 وَأَذْنَابُهُ ذَاتُ إِبَرٍ كَالْعَقَارِبِ. وَلَهُ سُلْطَةٌ أَنْ يُؤْذِيَ الْبَشَرَ بِأَذْنَابِهِ مُدَّةَ خَمْسَةِ أَشْهُرٍ. 11 أَمَّا مَلِكُهُ فَهُوَ «مَلاكُ الْهَاوِيَةِ»، وَاسْمُهُ بِالْعِبْرِيَّةِ «أَبَدُّونُ»، وَبِالْيُونَانِيَّةِ «أَبُولِّيُّونُ». 12 انْقَضَى الْوَيْلُ الأَوَّلُ، وَهُنَاكَ وَيْلانِ آخَرَانِ قَادِمَانِ!
13 وَعِنْدَمَا نَفَخَ الْمَلاكُ السَّادِسُ فِي بُوقِهِ، سَمِعْتُ صَوْتاً آتِياً مِنَ الْقُرُونِ الأَرْبَعَةِ لِمَذْبَحِ الذَّهَبِ الْمَوْجُودِ أَمَامَ اللهِ، 14 يَقُولُ لِلْمَلاكِ السَّادِسِ الَّذِي يَحْمِلُ الْبُوقَ: «أَطْلِقِ الْمَلائِكَةَ الأَرْبَعَةَ الْمُقَيَّدِينَ عِنْدَ نَهْرِ الْفُرَاتِ الْكَبِيرِ». 15 وَكَانَ هَؤُلاءِ الْمَلائِكَةُ الأَرْبَعَةُ مُجَهَّزِينَ اسْتِعْدَاداً لِهذِهِ السَّاعَةِ وَالْيَوْمِ وَالشَّهْرِ وَالسَّنَةِ، فَأُطْلِقُوا لِيَقْتُلُوا ثُلْثَ الْبَشَرِ. 16 وَسَمِعْتُ أَنَّ جَيْشَهُمْ يَبْلُغُ مِئَتَيْ مِلْيُونِ مُحَارِبٍ! 17 وَرَأَيْتُ فِي الرُّؤْيَا الْخُيُولَ وَعَلَيْهَا فُرْسَانٌ يَلْبَسُونَ دُرُوعاً بَعْضُهَا أَحْمَرُ نَارِيٌّ، وَبَعْضُهَا بَنَفْسَجِيٌّ، وَبَعْضُهَا أَصْفَرُ كِبْرِيتِيٌّ. وَكَانَتْ رُؤُوسُ الْخَيْلِ مِثْلَ رُؤُوسِ الأُسُودِ، تَلْفُظُ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهَا نَاراً وَدُخَاناً وَكِبْرِيتاً. 18 فَقُتِلَ ثُلْثُ النَّاسِ بِهذِهِ الْبَلايَا الثَّلاثِ، أَيْ بِالنَّارِ وَالدُّخَانِ وَالْكِبْرِيتِ الْخَارِجَةِ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِ الْخَيْلِ. 19 وَكَانَتْ قُوَّةُ الْخَيْلِ الْقَاتِلَةُ تَكْمُنُ فِي أَفْوَاهِهَا وَفِي أَذْنَابِهَا أَيْضاً، لأَنَّ أَذْنَابَهَا تُشْبِهُ الْحَيَّاتِ ذَاتَ الرُّؤُوسِ الْمُؤْذِيَةِ!
20 وَلَكِنَّ النَّاسَ الَّذِينَ نَجَوْا مِنْ هذِهِ الْبَلايَا، لَمْ يَتُوبُوا عَنْ أَعْمَالِهِمْ، وَظَلُّوا يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّيَاطِينِ وَلِلأَصْنَامِ الَّتِي صَنَعُوهَا مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَالنُّحَاسِ وَالْحَجَرِ وَالْخَشَبِ، مَعَ أَنَّهَا لَا تَرَى وَلا تَسْمَعُ وَلا تَتَحَرَّكُ! 21 وَلَمْ يَتُوبُوا عَنِ الْقَتْلِ وَالسِّحْرِ وَالزِّنَى وَالسَّرِقَةِ!

9 The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth.(A) The star was given the key(B) to the shaft of the Abyss.(C) 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace.(D) The sun and sky were darkened(E) by the smoke from the Abyss.(F) 3 And out of the smoke locusts(G) came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions(H) of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm(I) the grass of the earth or any plant or tree,(J) but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.(K) 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months.(L) And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion(M) when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.(N)
7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle.(O) On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.(P) 8 Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.(Q) 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.(R) 10 They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.(S) 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss,(T) whose name in Hebrew(U) is Abaddon(V) and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).
12 The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.(W)
13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns(X) of the golden altar that is before God.(Y) 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels(Z) who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”(AA) 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released(AB) to kill a third(AC) of mankind.(AD) 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.(AE)
17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths(AF) came fire, smoke and sulfur.(AG) 18 A third(AH) of mankind was killed(AI) by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur(AJ) that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent(AK) of the work of their hands;(AL) they did not stop worshiping demons,(AM) and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.(AN) 21 Nor did they repent(AO) of their murders, their magic arts,(AP) their sexual immorality(AQ) or their thefts.
