Gerarchia dei carismi in vista dell'utilità comune

14 Ricercate la carità. Aspirate pure anche ai doni dello Spirito, soprattutto alla profezia. 2 Chi infatti parla con il dono delle lingue non parla agli uomini, ma a Dio, giacchè nessuno comprende, mentre egli dice per ispirazione cose misteriose. 3 Chi profetizza, invece, parla agli uomini per loro edificazione, esortazione e conforto. 4 Chi parla con il dono delle lingue edifica se stesso, chi profetizza edifica l'assemblea. 5 Vorrei vedervi tutti parlare con il dono delle lingue, ma preferisco che abbiate il dono della profezia; in realtà è più grande colui che profetizza di colui che parla con il dono delle lingue, a meno che egli anche non interpreti, perché l'assemblea ne riceva edificazione.

6 E ora, fratelli, supponiamo che io venga da voi parlando con il dono delle lingue; in che cosa potrei esservi utile, se non vi parlassi in rivelazione o in scienza o in profezia o in dottrina? 7 E' quanto accade per gli oggetti inanimati che emettono un suono, come il flauto o la cetra; se non si distinguono con chiarezza i suoni, come si potrà distinguere ciò che si suona col flauto da ciò che si suona con la cetra? 8 E se la tromba emette un suono confuso, chi si preparerà al combattimento? 9 Così anche voi, se non pronunziate parole chiare con la lingua, come si potrà comprendere ciò che andate dicendo? Parlerete al vento! 10 Nel mondo vi sono chissà quante varietà di lingue e nulla è senza un proprio linguaggio; 11 ma se io non conosco il valore del suono, sono come uno straniero per colui che mi parla, e chi mi parla sarà uno straniero per me.

12 Quindi anche voi, poiché desiderate i doni dello Spirito, cercate di averne in abbondanza, per l'edificazione della comunità. 13 Perciò chi parla con il dono delle lingue, preghi di poterle interpretare. 14 Quando infatti prego con il dono delle lingue, il mio spirito prega, ma la mia intelligenza rimane senza frutto. 15 Che fare dunque? Pregherò con lo spirito, ma pregherò anche con l'intelligenza; canterò con lo spirito, ma canterò anche con l'intelligenza. 16 Altrimenti se tu benedici soltanto con lo spirito, colui che assiste come non iniziato come potrebbe dire l'Amen al tuo ringraziamento, dal momento che non capisce quello che dici? 17 Tu puoi fare un bel ringraziamento, ma l'altro non viene edificato. 18 Grazie a Dio, io parlo con il dono delle lingue molto più di tutti voi; 19 ma in assemblea preferisco dire cinque parole con la mia intelligenza per istruire anche gli altri, piuttosto che diecimila parole con il dono delle lingue.

20 Fratelli, non comportatevi da bambini nei giudizi; siate come bambini quanto a malizia, ma uomini maturi quanto ai giudizi. 21 Sta scritto nella Legge:

Parlerò a questo popolo in altre lingue
e con labbra di stranieri,
ma neanche così mi ascolteranno, dice il Signore. 22 Quindi le lingue non sono un segno per i credenti ma per i non credenti, mentre la profezia non è per i non credenti ma per i credenti. 23 Se, per esempio, quando si raduna tutta la comunità, tutti parlassero con il dono delle lingue e sopraggiungessero dei non iniziati o non credenti, non direbbero forse che siete pazzi? 24 Se invece tutti profetassero e sopraggiungesse qualche non credente o un non iniziato, verrebbe convinto del suo errore da tutti, giudicato da tutti; 25 sarebbero manifestati i segreti del suo cuore, e così prostrandosi a terra adorerebbe Dio, proclamando che veramente Dio è fra voi.

I carismi. Regole pratiche

26 Che fare dunque, fratelli? Quando vi radunate ognuno può avere un salmo, un insegnamento, una rivelazione, un discorso in lingue, il dono di interpretarle. Ma tutto si faccia per l'edificazione. 27 Quando si parla con il dono delle lingue, siano in due o al massimo in tre a parlare, e per ordine; uno poi faccia da interprete. 28 Se non vi è chi interpreta, ciascuno di essi taccia nell'assemblea e parli solo a se stesso e a Dio. 29 I profeti parlino in due o tre e gli altri giudichino. 30 Se uno di quelli che sono seduti riceve una rivelazione, il primo taccia: 31 tutti infatti potete profetare, uno alla volta, perché tutti possano imparare ed essere esortati. 32 Ma le ispirazioni dei profeti devono essere sottomesse ai profeti, 33 perché Dio non è un Dio di disordine, ma di pace.

34 Come in tutte le comunità dei fedeli, le donne nelle assemblee tacciano perché non è loro permesso parlare; stiano invece sottomesse, come dice anche la legge. 35 Se vogliono imparare qualche cosa, interroghino a casa i loro mariti, perché è sconveniente per una donna parlare in assemblea.

36 Forse la parola di Dio è partita da voi? O è giunta soltanto a voi? 37 Chi ritiene di essere profeta o dotato di doni dello Spirito, deve riconoscere che quanto scrivo è comando del Signore; 38 se qualcuno non lo riconosce, neppure lui è riconosciuto. 39 Dunque, fratelli miei, aspirate alla profezia e, quanto al parlare con il dono delle lingue, non impeditelo. 40 Ma tutto avvenga decorosamente e con ordine.

14 اسْعَوْا وَرَاءَ المَحَبَّةِ، وَتَشَوَّقُوا لِلمُوُاهِبِ الرُّوحِيَّةِ بِإخْلَاصٍ، ولَاسِيَّمَا مَوهِبَةُ التَّنَبُّؤِ. 2 فَمَنْ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِلُغَةٍ أُخْرَى، لَا يُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ، بَلِ اللهَ، لِأنَّهُ مَا مِنْ أحَدٍ يَفْهَمُ مَا يَقُولُهُ. فَهُوَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِأسرَارٍ بِالرُّوحِ. 3 أمَّا الَّذِي يَتَنَبَّأُ، فَيَتَكَلَّمُ بِأشْيَاءَ تَبْنِي وَتُشَجِّعُ وَتُعَزِّي الآخَرِينَ. 4 مَنْ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِلُغَةٍ أُخْرَى يَبْنِي نَفْسَهُ، أمَّا الَّذِي يَتَنَبَّأُ فَيَبْنِي الكَنِيسَةَ كُلَّهَا.

5 وَأنَا أوَدُّ أنْ تَكُونَ لَكُمْ جَمِيعًا مَوهِبَةُ التَّكَلُّمِ بِلُغَاتٍ، لَكِنِّي أوَدُّ أكْثَرَ أنْ تَتَنَبَّأُوا. فَمَنْ يَتَنَبَّأُ أكْثَرُ فَائِدَةً مِمَّنْ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِلُغَاتٍ أُخْرَى، إلَّا إذَا كَانَ مَنْ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِلُغَاتٍ أُخْرَى لَهُ مَوهِبَةُ تَفْسِيرِ مَا يَقُولُهُ، فَبِهَذَا تُبنَى الكَنِيسَةُ كُلُّهَا.

6 أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ، إنْ أتَيْتُكُمْ مُتَكَلِّمًا بِلُغَاتٍ أُخْرَى، فَكَيْفَ سَأُفِيدُكُمْ إلَّا إذَا تَكَلَّمْتُ بِإعلَانٍ أوْ مَعْرِفَةٍ أوْ نُبُوَّةٍ أوْ تَعْلِيمٍ؟ 7 كَذَلِكَ الآلَاتُ المُوسِيقِيَّةُ الخَالِيَةُ مِنَ الحَيَاةِ. فَإنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ هُنَاكَ تَمْيِيزٌ وَاضِحٌ بَيْنَ النَّغَمَاتِ الَّتِي تُطلِقُهَا، كَيْفَ يُمْكِنُ لأحَدٍ أنْ يُمَيِّزَ اللَحْنَ الَّذِي يُعزَفُ عَلَى النَّايِ أوِ القِيثَارِ؟ 8 وَإذَا أصدَرَ البُوقُ صَوْتًا غَيْرَ وَاضِحٍ، فَمَنِ الَّذِي سَيُهَيِّئُ نَفْسَهُ لِلمَعرَكَةِ؟ 9 كَذَلِكَ إنْ لَمْ يُصدِرْ لِسَانُكُمْ كَلَامًا مَفهُومًا، فَكَيْفَ يُمْكِنُ لِأيِّ أحَدٍ أنْ يَفْهَمَ مَا قُلْتُمُوهُ؟ لِأنَّكُمْ عِنْدَئِذٍ تَتَكَلَّمُونَ فِي الهَوَاءِ. 10 لَا شَكَّ أنَّ هُنَاكَ لُغَاتٍ كَثِيرَةً فِي العَالَمِ، وَجَمِيعُهَا لَهَا مَعنَى. 11 فَإنْ لَمْ أكُنْ أعْرِفُ مَعنَى اللُّغَةِ، سَأكُونُ مِثْلَ الأجنَبِيِّ عِنْدَ المُتَكَلِّمِ، وَسَيَكُونُ المُتَكَلِّمُ أجنَبِيًّا عِندِي أيْضًا.

12 وَهَكَذَا أنْتُمْ. فَبِمَا أنَّكُمْ مُتَشَوِّقُونَ لَامتِلَاكِ المَوَاهِبِ الرُّوحِيَّةِ، اجتَهِدُوا أنْ تَتَفَوَّقُوا فِيهَا مِنْ أجْلِ بِنَاءِ الكَنِيسَةِ. 13 فَعَلَى مَنْ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِلُغَةٍ أُخْرَى، أنْ يُصَلِّيَ طَالِبًا مَوهِبَةَ تَفْسِيرِ اللُغَةِ أيْضًا. 14 فَإنْ صَلَّيتُ بِلُغَةٍ أُخْرَى، فَإنَّ رُوحِي هِيَ الَّتِي تُصَلِّي، وَأمَّا عَقلِي فَيَكُونُ خَامِلًا. 15 فَمَا العَمَلُ إذًا؟ سَأُصَلِّي بِرُوحِي، وَسَأُصَلِّي بِعَقلِي أيْضًا. سَأُرَنِّمُ بِرُوحِي، وَسَأُرَنِّمُ بِعَقلِي أيْضًا. 16 فَإنْ حَمَدتَ اللهَ بِرُوحِكَ فَكَيْفَ يُمْكِنُ لِمَنْ لَا يَفْهَمُ كَلَامَكَ أنْ يَقُولَ: «آمِين»؟ وَهُوَ لَمْ يَفْهَمْ مَا قُلْتَهُ. 17 رُبَّمَا تَشْكُرُ اللهَ بِطَرِيقَةٍ حَسَنَةٍ، لَكِنَّ الشَّخصَ الآخَرَ لَا يُبنَى.

18 أنَا أشكُرُ اللهَ عَلَى أنِّي أتَكَلَّمُ بِلُغَاتٍ أُخْرَى أكْثَرَ مِنْكُمْ جَمِيعًا. 19 لَكِنِّي أُفَضِّلُ عِنْدَ اجتِمَاعِ الكَنِيسَةِ أنْ أتَكَلَّمَ خَمْسَ كَلِمَاتٍ مُسْتَخْدِمًا عَقلِي لِأُعَلِّمَ الآخَرِينَ، عَلَى أنْ أتَكَلَّمَ عَشْرَةَ آلَافِ كَلِمَةٍ بِلُغَةٍ أُخْرَى! 20 أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ، لَا تَكُونُوا أطْفَالًا فِي تَفْكِيرِكُمْ، بَلْ كُونُوا أبرِيَاءَ كَالأطْفَالِ فِي مَا يَتَعَلَّقُ بِالشَّرِّ. أمَّا فِي تَفْكِيرِكُمْ، فَكُونُوا نَاضِجِينَ. 21 تَقُولُ الشَّرِيعَةُ:

«بِأُنَاسٍ يَتَكَلَّمُونَ لُغَاتٍ أُخْرَى،
وَبِشِفَاهِ أجَانِبَ،
سَأُكَلِّمُ هَذَا الشَّعْبَ.
لَكِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يُصغُوا إلَيَّ.»[a]

هَذَا هُوَ مَا يَقُولُهُ الرَّبُّ.

22 وَهَذَا يَعْني أنَّ التَّكَلُّمَ بِلُغَاتٍ أُخْرَى هُوَ عَلَامَةُ دَينونَةٍ ضَدَّ غَيْرِ المُؤمِنِينَ، لَا ضَدَّ المُؤمِنِينَ. أمَّا التَّنَبُّؤُ فَعَلَامَةُ بَرَكَةٍ لِلمُؤمِنينَ، لَا لِغَيرِ المُؤمِنِينَ. 23 فَلْنَفرِضْ أنَّ الكَنِيسَةَ كُلَّهَا اجتَمَعَتْ مَعًا، وَكَانَ الجَمِيعُ يَتَكَلَّمُونَ بِلُغَاتٍ أُخْرَى، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ غُرَبَاءٌ أوْ غَيْرُ مُؤمِنِينَ، أفَلَنْ يَقُولُوا إنَّكُمْ مَجَانِينُ؟ 24 لَكِنْ إنْ كَانَ الجَمِيعُ يَتَنَبَّأُونَ عِنْدَ دُخُولِ شَخْصٍ غَيْرِ مُؤمِنٍ أوْ غَرِيبٍ، فَإنَّهُ سَيُوَبَّخُ مِنْ جَمِيعِ الَّذِينَ يَتَنَبَّأُونَ وَسَتَدِينُهُ أقْوَالُهُمْ. 25 سَتُكشَفُ أسرَارُ قَلْبِهِ، فَيَجْثُو وَيَعْبُدُ اللهَ وَيَقُولُ: «حَقًّا إنَّ اللهَ مَوجُودٌ بَيْنَكُمْ!»

كُلُّ شَيءٍ لِبُنيَانِ الكَنِيسَة

26 فَمَا العَمَلُ أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ؟ عِنْدَمَا تَجْتَمِعُونَ، لِيَكُنْ لِوَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمْ مَزْمُورٌ، وَلِآخَرَ تَعْلِيمٌ، وَلِآخَرَ إعْلَانٌ، وَليَتَكَلَّمْ آخَرُ بِلُغَةٍ أُخْرَى، وَيُفَسِّرْ آخَرُ تِلْكَ اللُّغَةَ. فَيَنْبَغِي أنْ يَجْرِيَ كُلُّ شَيءٍ لِبُنيَانِ الكَنِيسَةِ. 27 فَعِنْدَمَا تَتَكَلَّمونَ بِلُغَاتٍ أُخْرَى فِي الكَنِيسَةِ، ليَتَكَلَّمِ اثْنَانِ أوْ ثَلَاثَةٌ عَلَى الأكثَرِ. وَلْيَتَكَلَّمُوا وَاحِدًا بَعْدَ الآخَرِ. وَلْيُتَرْجِمْ وَاحِدٌ مَا يُقَالُ. 28 وَإنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ هُنَاكَ مَنْ يُتَرْجِمُ، فَلْيَصْمِتِ المُتَكَلِّمُ بِلُغَةٍ أُخْرَى فِي الاجْتِمَاعِ، وَلْيُصَلِّ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ اللهِ. 29 وَلْيَتَكَلَّمْ نَبِيَّانِ أوْ ثَلَاثَةٌ، وَلْيَمْتَحِنِ الآخَرُونَ مَا يَقُولُونَهُ. 30 وَإذَا تَلَقَّى شَخْصٌ آخَرُ جَالِسٌ إعلَانًا مِنَ اللهِ، فَلْيَصْمِتْ مَنْ كَانَ يَتَنَبَّأُ. 31 إذْ يُمكِنُكُمْ جَمِيعًا أنْ تَتَنَبَّأُوا كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ بِدَورِهِ. وَبِهَذَا تَتَعَلَّمُونَ جَمِيعًا وَتَتَشَجَّعُونَ جَمِيعًا. 32 فَأروَاحُ الأنْبِيَاءِ خَاضِعَةٌ لِلأنبَيَاءِ. 33 وَاللهُ لَا يَصْنَعُ الفَوضَى بَلِ السَّلَامَ.

وَكَمَا هُوَ الحَالُ فِي جَمِيعِ كَنَائِسِ شَعْبِ اللهِ المُقَدَّسِ، 34 يَنْبَغِي أنْ تَصْمُتَ النِّسَاءُ فِي الاجْتِمَاعَاتِ. إذْ لَيْسَ مَسمُوحًا لَهُنَّ بِأنْ يَتَكَلَّمنَ، بَلْ لِيُظهِرنَ خُضُوعًا، كَمَا تَقُولُ الشَّرِيعَةُ أيْضًا. 35 وَإذَا أرَدنَ أنْ يَتَعَلَّمنَ شَيْئًا، فَعَلَيْهِنَّ أنْ يَنْتَظِرنَ حَتَّى يَصِلْنَ إلَى البَيْتِ وَيَسألنَ أزوَاجَهُنَّ. أقُولُ هَذَا لِأنَّهُ عَيبٌ أنْ تَتَكَلَّمَ المَرْأةُ فِي الاجْتِمَاعِ.

36 فَهَلْ أنْتُمْ مَصدَرُ كَلِمَةِ اللهِ؟ أمْ وَصَلَتْ كَلِمَةُ اللهِ إلَيكُمْ وَحدَكُمْ؟ 37 فَإنْ كَانَ أحَدٌ يَعْتَبِرُ نَفْسَهُ نَبِيًّا، أوْ لَدَيهِ مَوهِبَةٌ رُوحِيَّةٌ، فَلَا بُدَّ أنْ يُدرِكَ أنَّ مَا أكتُبُهُ إلَيكُمْ هُوَ أمرٌ مِنَ الرَّبِّ. 38 وَإنْ كَانَ يَتَجَاهَلُ هَذَا، فَاللهُ يَتَجَاهَلُهُ!

39 إذًا أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ، تَشَوَّقُوا لِلتَّنَبُّؤِ، وَلَا تَمْنَعُوا أحَدًا مِنَ التَّكَلُّمِ بِلُغَاتٍ. 40 لَكِنْ يَنْبَغِي أنْ يَتِمَّ كُلُّ شَيءٍ بِلَيَاقَةٍ وَبِنِظَامٍ.

Intelligibility in Worship

14 Follow the way of love(A) and eagerly desire(B) gifts of the Spirit,(C) especially prophecy.(D) 2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue[a](E) does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them;(F) they utter mysteries(G) by the Spirit. 3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening,(H) encouraging(I) and comfort. 4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue(J) edifies(K) themselves, but the one who prophesies(L) edifies the church. 5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,[b] but I would rather have you prophesy.(M) The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues,[c] unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.(N)

6 Now, brothers and sisters, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation(O) or knowledge(P) or prophecy or word of instruction?(Q) 7 Even in the case of lifeless things that make sounds, such as the pipe or harp, how will anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a distinction in the notes? 8 Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?(R) 9 So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air. 10 Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning. 11 If then I do not grasp the meaning of what someone is saying, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and the speaker is a foreigner to me.(S) 12 So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit,(T) try to excel in those that build up(U) the church.

13 For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say.(V) 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays,(W) but my mind is unfruitful. 15 So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit,(X) but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing(Y) with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. 16 Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer,[d] say “Amen”(Z) to your thanksgiving,(AA) since they do not know what you are saying? 17 You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified.(AB)

18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19 But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.(AC)

20 Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children.(AD) In regard to evil be infants,(AE) but in your thinking be adults. 21 In the Law(AF) it is written:

“With other tongues
    and through the lips of foreigners
I will speak to this people,
    but even then they will not listen to me,(AG)
says the Lord.”[e]

22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy,(AH) however, is not for unbelievers but for believers. 23 So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and inquirers or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?(AI) 24 But if an unbeliever or an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all, 25 as the secrets(AJ) of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”(AK)

Good Order in Worship

26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters?(AL) When you come together, each of you(AM) has a hymn,(AN) or a word of instruction,(AO) a revelation, a tongue(AP) or an interpretation.(AQ) Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.(AR) 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God.

29 Two or three prophets(AS) should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.(AT) 30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets.(AU) 33 For God is not a God of disorder(AV) but of peace(AW)—as in all the congregations(AX) of the Lord’s people.(AY)

34 Women[f] should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak,(AZ) but must be in submission,(BA) as the law(BB) says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.[g]

36 Or did the word of God(BC) originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks they are a prophet(BD) or otherwise gifted by the Spirit,(BE) let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command.(BF) 38 But if anyone ignores this, they will themselves be ignored.[h]

39 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager(BG) to prophesy,(BH) and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly(BI) way.
