الحرية في المسيح

5 إِنَّ الْمَسِيحَ قَدْ حَرَّرَنَا وَأَطْلَقَنَا فِي سَبِيلِ الْحُرِّيَّةِ. فَاثْبُتُوا إِذَنْ، وَلا تَعُودُوا إِلَى الارْتِبَاكِ بِنِيرِ الْعُبُودِيَّةِ. 2 هَا أَنَا بُولُسُ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنْ خُتِنْتُمْ، لَا يَنْفَعُكُمُ الْمَسِيحُ شَيْئاً. 3 وَأَشْهَدُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى لِكُلِّ مَخْتُونٍ بِأَنَّهُ مُلْتَزِمٌ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ بِالشَّرِيعَةِ كُلِّهَا. 4 يَا مَنْ تُرِيدُونَ التَّبْرِيرَ عَنْ طَرِيقِ الشَّرِيعَةِ، قَدْ حُرِمْتُمُ الْمَسِيحَ وَسَقَطْتُمْ مِنَ النِّعْمَةِ! 5 فَإِنَّنَا، بِالرُّوحِ وَعَلَى أَسَاسِ الإِيمَانِ، نَنْتَظِرُ الرَّجَاءَ الَّذِي يُنْتِجُهُ الْبِرُّ. 6 فَفِي الْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، لَا نَفْعَ لِلْخِتَانِ وَلا لِعَدَمِ الْخِتَانِ، بَلْ لِلإِيمَانِ الْعَامِلِ بِالْمَحَبَّةِ.

7 كُنْتُمْ تَجْرُونَ جَرْياً جَيِّداً، فَمَنْ أَعَاقَكُمْ حَتَّى لَا تُذْعِنُوا لِلْحَقِّ؟ 8 هَذَا التَّضْلِيلُ لَيْسَ مِنَ الَّذِي دَعَاكُمْ! 9 إِنَّ خَمِيرَةً صَغِيرَةً تُخَمِّرُ الْعَجِينَ كُلَّهُ. 10 وَلَكِنَّ لِي ثِقَةً بِكُمْ فِي الرَّبِّ أَنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَعْتَنِقُوا رَأْياً آخَرَ. وَكُلُّ مَنْ يُثِيرُ الْبَلْبَلَةَ بَيْنَكُمْ سَيَلْقَى عِقَابَ ذَلِكَ، كَائِناً مَنْ كَانَ. 11 وَأَمَّا أَنَا، أَيُّهَا الإِخْوَةُ، فَلَوْ صَحَّ أَنَّنِي مَازِلْتُ أَدْعُو إِلَى الْخِتَانِ، فَلِمَاذَا مَازِلْتُ أَلْقَى الاضْطِهَادَ؟ إِذَنْ لَكَانَتِ الْعَثْرَةُ الَّتِي فِي الصَّلِيبِ قَدْ زَالَتْ! 12 لَيْتَ الَّذِينَ يُثِيرُونَ الْبَلْبَلَةَ بَيْنَكُمْ يَبْتُرُونَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ!

13 فَإِنَّمَا إِلَى الْحُرِّيَّةِ قَدْ دُعِيتُمْ، أَيُّهَا الإِخْوَةُ؛ وَلَكِنْ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا مِنَ الْحُرِّيَّةِ ذَرِيعَةً لإِرْضَاءِ الْجَسَدِ، بَلْ بِالْمَحَبَّةِ كُونُوا عَبِيداً فِي خِدْمَةِ أَحَدِكُمُ الآخَرَ. 14 فَإِنَّ الشَّرِيعَةَ كُلَّهَا تَتِمُّ فِي وَصِيَّةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ: «أَنْ تُحِبَّ قَرِيبَكَ كَنَفْسِكَ». 15 فَإِذَا كُنْتُمْ تَنْهَشُونَ وَتَفْتَرِسُونَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً، فَاحْذَرُوا أَنْ يُفْنِيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الآخَرَ!

الحياة بالروح

16 إِنَّمَا أَقُولُ: اسْلُكُوا فِي الرُّوحِ. وَعِنْدَئِذٍ لَا تُتَمِّمُونَ شَهْوَةَ الْجَسَدِ أَبَداً. 17 فَإِنَّ الْجَسَدَ يَشْتَهِي بِعَكْسِ الرُّوحِ، وَالرُّوحُ بِعَكْسِ الْجَسَدِ؛ وَهَذَانِ يُقَاوِمُ أَحَدُهُمَا الآخَرَ حَتَّى إِنَّكُمْ لَا تَفْعَلُونَ مَا تَرْغَبُونَ فِيهِ. 18 وَلَكِنْ إِذَا كُنْتُمْ خَاضِعِينَ لِقِيَادَةِ الرُّوحِ، فَلَسْتُمْ فِي حَالِ الْعُبُودِيَّةِ لِلشَّرِيعَةِ. 19 أَمَّا أَعْمَالُ الْجَسَدِ فَظَاهِرَةٌ، وَهِيَ: الزِّنَى وَالنَّجَاسَةُ وَالدَّعَارَةُ، 20 وَعِبَادَةُ الأَصْنَامِ وَالسِّحْرُ، وَالْعَدَاوَةُ وَالنِّزَاعُ وَالْغَيْرَةُ وَالْغَضَبُ، وَالتَّحَزُّبُ وَالانْقِسَامُ وَالتَّعَصُّبُ، 21 وَالْحَسَدُ وَالسُّكْرُ وَالْعَرْبَدَةُ، وَمَا يُشْبِهُ هذِهِ. وَبِالنَّظَرِ إِلَيْهَا، أَقُولُ لَكُمْ الآنَ، كَمَا سَبَقَ أَنْ قُلْتُ أَيْضاً، إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَفْعَلُونَ مِثْلَ هذِهِ لَنْ يَرِثُوا مَلَكُوتَ اللهِ!

22 وَأَمَّا ثَمَرُ الرُّوحِ فَهُوَ: الْمَحَبَّةُ وَالْفَرَحُ وَالسَّلامُ، وَطُولُ الْبَالِ وَاللُّطْفُ وَالصَّلاحُ، وَالأَمَانَةُ 23 وَالْوَدَاعَةُ وَضَبْطُ النَّفْسِ. وَلَيْسَ مِنْ قَانُونٍ يَمْنَعُ مِثْلَ هذِهِ الْفَضَائِلِ.

24 وَلَكِنَّ الَّذِينَ صَارُوا خَاصَّةً لِلْمَسِيحِ، قَدْ صَلَبُوا الْجَسَدَ مَعَ الأَهْوَاءِ وَالشَّهَوَاتِ. 25 إِذَا كُنَّا نَحْيَا بِالرُّوحِ، فَلْنَسْلُكْ أَيْضاً بِالرُّوحِ. 26 لَا نَكُنْ طَامِحِينَ إِلَى الْمَجْدِ الْبَاطِلِ، يَسْتَفِزُّ بَعْضُنَا بَعْضاً، وَيَحْسُدُ أَحَدُنَا الآخَرَ!

5 State dunque saldi nella libertà con la quale Cristo ci ha liberati, e non siate di nuovo ridotti sotto il giogo della schiavitú.

2 Ecco, io, Paolo, vi dico che se vi fate circoncidere, Cristo non vi gioverà nulla.

3 E daccapo attesto ad ogni uomo che si fa circoncidere che egli è obbligato ad osservare tutta la legge.

4 Voi, che cercate di essere giustificati mediante la legge, vi siete separati da Cristo; siete scaduti dalla grazia.

5 Noi infatti in Spirito, mediante la fede, aspettiamo la speranza della giustizia,

6 poiché in Cristo Gesú né la circoncisione, né l'incirconcisione hanno alcun valore, ma la fede che opera mediante l'amore.

7 Voi correvate bene; chi vi ha ostacolato a impedendovi di ubbidire alla verità?

8 Questa persuasione non viene da colui che vi chiama.

9 Un po' di lievito fa fermentare tutta la pasta.

10 Io sono fiducioso per voi nel Signore che non penserete diversamente; ma colui che vi turba ne subirà la punizione chiunque egli sia.

11 Ora quanto a me, fratelli, se io predico ancora la circoncisione, perché sono perseguitato? Allora lo scandalo della croce sarebbe abolito.

12 Oh, si facessero pur anche mutilare coloro che vi turbano!

13 Voi infatti, fratelli, siete stati chiamati a libertà; soltanto non usate questa libertà per dare un'occasione alla carne ma servite gli uni gli altri per mezzo dell'amore.

14 Tutta la legge infatti si adempie in questa unica parola: «Ama il tuo prossimo come te stesso».

15 Che se vi mordete e vi divorate a vicenda, guardate che non siate consumati gli uni dagli altri.

16 Or io dico: Camminate secondo lo Spirito e non adempirete i desideri della carne,

17 la carne infatti ha desideri contrari allo Spirito e lo Spirito ha desideri contrari alla carne; e queste cose sono opposte l'una all'altra, cosicché voi non fate quel che vorreste.

18 Ma se siete condotti dallo Spirito, voi non siete sotto la legge.

19 Ora le opere della carne sono manifeste e sono: adulterio, fornicazione impurità, dissolutezza,

20 idolatria, magia, inimicizie, contese, gelosie, ire, risse, divisioni, sette,

21 invidie, omicidi, ubriachezze, ghiottonerie e cose simili a queste, circa le quali vi prevengo, come vi ho già detto prima, che coloro che fanno tali cose non erediteranno il regno di Dio,

22 Ma il frutto dello Spirito è: amore gioia, pace, pazienza, gentilezza, bontà, fede, mansuetudine, autocontrollo.

23 Contro tali cose non vi è legge.

24 Ora quelli che sono di Cristo hanno crocifisso la carne con le sue passioni e le sue concupiscenze.

25 Se viviamo per lo Spirito, camminiamo altresí per lo Spirito,

26 Non siamo vanagloriosi, provocandoci e invidiandoci gli uni gli altri.

La libertà cristiana

5 Cristo ci ha liberati perché restassimo liberi; state dunque saldi e non lasciatevi imporre di nuovo il giogo della schiavitù. 2 Ecco, io Paolo vi dico: se vi fate circoncidere, Cristo non vi gioverà nulla. 3 E dichiaro ancora una volta a chiunque si fa circoncidere che egli è obbligato ad osservare tutta quanta la legge. 4 Non avete più nulla a che fare con Cristo voi che cercate la giustificazione nella legge; siete decaduti dalla grazia. 5 Noi infatti per virtù dello Spirito, attendiamo dalla fede la giustificazione che speriamo. 6 Poiché in Cristo Gesù non è la circoncisione che conta o la non circoncisione, ma la fede che opera per mezzo della carità.

7 Correvate così bene; chi vi ha tagliato la strada che non obbedite più alla verità? 8 Questa persuasione non viene sicuramente da colui che vi chiama! 9 Un pò di lievito fa fermentare tutta la pasta. 10 Io sono fiducioso per voi nel Signore che non penserete diversamente; ma chi vi turba, subirà la sua condanna, chiunque egli sia. 11 Quanto a me, fratelli, se io predico ancora la circoncisione, perché sono tuttora perseguitato? E' dunque annullato lo scandalo della croce? 12 Dovrebbero farsi mutilare coloro che vi turbano.

Libertà e carità

13 Voi infatti, fratelli, siete stati chiamati a libertà. Purché questa libertà non divenga un pretesto per vivere secondo la carne, ma mediante la carità siate a servizio gli uni degli altri. 14 Tutta la legge infatti trova la sua pienezza in un solo precetto: amerai il prossimo tuo come te stesso. 15 Ma se vi mordete e divorate a vicenda, guardate almeno di non distruggervi del tutto gli uni gli altri!

16 Vi dico dunque: camminate secondo lo Spirito e non sarete portati a soddisfare i desideri della carne; 17 la carne infatti ha desideri contrari allo Spirito e lo Spirito ha desideri contrari alla carne; queste cose si oppongono a vicenda, sicché voi non fate quello che vorreste.

18 Ma se vi lasciate guidare dallo Spirito, non siete più sotto la legge. 19 Del resto le opere della carne sono ben note: fornicazione, impurità, libertinaggio, 20 idolatria, stregonerie, inimicizie, discordia, gelosia, dissensi, divisioni, fazioni, 21 invidie, ubriachezze, orge e cose del genere; circa queste cose vi preavviso, come gia ho detto, che chi le compie non erediterà il regno di Dio. 22 Il frutto dello Spirito invece è amore, gioia, pace, pazienza, benevolenza, bontà, fedeltà, mitezza, dominio di sé; 23 contro queste cose non c'è legge.

24 Ora quelli che sono di Cristo Gesù hanno crocifisso la loro carne con le sue passioni e i suoi desideri. 25 Se pertanto viviamo dello Spirito, camminiamo anche secondo lo Spirito. 26 Non cerchiamo la vanagloria, provocandoci e invidiandoci gli uni gli altri.

5 قَدْ أطْلَقَنَا المَسِيحُ إلَى حَيَاةِ الحُرِّيَّةِ، فَحَافِظُوا عَلَى ثَبَاتِكُمْ، وَلَا تَعُودُوا ثَانِيَةً إلَى قُيُودِ العُبُودِيَّةِ. 2 هَا أنَا بُولُسُ أقُولُ لَكُمْ إنِ اخْتَتَنْتُمْ مُتَّكِلِينَ عَلَى الشَّرِيعَةِ، فَلَنْ يَنْفَعْكُمِ المَسِيحُ. 3 وَمَرَّةً أُخْرَى أُعْلِنُ لِكُلِّ شَخْصٍ سَمَحَ لِنَفْسِهِ بِأنْ يُختَنَ، بِأنَّهُ مُجْبَرٌ عَلَى الالْتِزَامِ بِالشَّرِيعَةِ كُلِّهَا. 4 وَإنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحَاوِلُونَ أنْ تَكُونُوا أبْرَارًا بِالشَّرِيعَةِ، فَقَدْ قَطَعْتُمْ أنْفُسَكُمْ عَنِ المَسِيحِ، وَأنْتُمُ الآنَ خَارِجَ النِّعمَةِ. 5 أمَّا نَحْنُ فَلَنَا رَجَاءٌ نَابِعٌ مِنَ البِرِّ الَّذِي بِالإيمَانِ، وَنَحْنُ نَنتَظِرُ ذَلِكَ الرَّجَاءَ بِالرُّوحِ. 6 فَفِي المَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، لَا فَائِدَةَ لِلخِتَانِ أوْ لِعَدَمِ الخِتَانِ، وَلَكِنْ لِلإيمَانِ الَّذِي يَعْمَلُ بِالمَحَبَّةِ.

7 قَدْ كُنْتُمْ تَرْكُضُونَ بِشَكلٍ جَيِّدٍ فِي سِبَاقِ الإيمَانِ، فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي أعَاقَكُمْ عَنِ الخُضُوعِ لِلحَقِّ؟ 8 أيًّا كَانَ ذَلِكَ الشَّيءُ، فَهُوَ لَيْسَ مِنَ اللهِ الَّذِي دَعَاكُمْ. 9 إنَّ «خَمِيرَةً صَغِيرَةً تُخَمِّرُ العَجِينَ كُلَّهُ.»[a] 10 وَلِي ثِقَةٌ بِالرَّبِّ أنَّكُمْ سَتَقْتَنِعُونَ بِمَا قُلْتُهُ لَكُمْ، لَا بِأيِّ شَيءٍ آخَرَ. وَلَكِنَّ الَّذِي يُرْبِكُكُمْ سَيَدْفَعُ الثَّمَنَ كَائِنًا مَنْ كَانَ.

11 أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ، لَوْ كُنْتُ لَا أزَالُ أُعَلِّمُ بِضَرورَةِ الخِتَانِ، لَمَا كُنْتُ مُضْطَّهَدًا، ولَمَا عَادَ الصَّلِيبُ يُعْتَبَرُ عَائِقًا أمَامَ أحَدٍ. 12 فَلَيْتَ الَّذِينَ يُزعِجُونَكُمْ بِهَذِهِ المَسْألَةِ يَقْطَعُونَ إلَى التَّمَامِ![b]

13 أمَّا أنْتُمْ أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ، فَقَدْ دُعِيتُمْ إلَى حَيَاةِ الحُرِّيَّةِ. وَلَكِنْ لَا تَجْعَلُوا حُرِّيَتَكُمْ حُجَّةً لإرْضَاءِ رَغَبَاتِكُمُ الأنَانِيَّةِ، بَلْ لِيَخْدِمْ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا بِالمَحَبَّةِ. 14 لِأنَّ كُلَّ الشَّرِيعَةِ جُمِعَتْ فِي وَصِيَّةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ: «تُحِبُّ صَاحِبَكَ[c] كَمَا تُحِبُّ نَفْسَكَ.»[d] 15 وَلَكِنْ إنْ كَانَ يَنْهَشُ ويَفْتَرِسُ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا، فَاحذَرُوا مِنْ أنْ يُفنِيَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا.

الرُّوحُ وَالطَّبِيعَةُ البَشَرِيَّة

16 وَلَكِنِّي أقُولُ اسْلُكُوا تَحْتَ قِيَادَةِ الرُّوحِ، وَهَكَذَا لَنْ تُشبِعُوا شَهَوَاتِ الطَّبِيعَةِ الجَسَديَّةِ. 17 فَالطَّبِيعَةُ الجَسَدِيَّةُ تَشْتَهِي ضِدَّ رَغَبَاتِ الرُّوحِ، وَالرُّوحُ تَشْتَهِي ضِدَّ رَغَبَاتِ الطَّبِيعَةِ الجَسَدِيِّةِ. فَكُلٌّ مِنْهُمَا يَشْتَهِي بِعَكْسِ الآخَرِ. وَهَكَذَا لَا تَسْتَطِيعُونَ أنْ تَفْعَلُوا مَا تُرِيدُونَ. 18 وَلَكِنْ، إنْ كُنْتُمْ تَنقَادُونَ بِالرُّوحِ، فَلَسْتُمْ تَحْتَ الشَّرِيعَةِ.

19 إنَّ أعْمَالَ الطَّبِيعَةِ البَشَرِيَّةِ وَاضِحَةٌ: وَهِيَ الزِّنَى، النَّجَاسَةُ، الدَّعَارَةُ، 20 عِبَادَةُ الأصْنَامِ، السِّحْرُ، مَشَاعِرُ العَدَاءِ، المُنَازَعَاتُ، الغَيْرَةُ، الغَضَبُ، التَّحَزُّبُ، الانقِسَامُ، 21 الحَسَدُ، السُّكْرُ، اللَّهوُ المُنحَرِفُ، وَكُلُّ الأُمُورِ الَّتِي تُشبِهُ هَذِهِ. هَذِهِ هِيَ الأُمُورُ الَّتِي حَذَّرْتُكُمْ مِنْهَا، وَكُنْتُ قَدْ حَذَّرْتُكُمْ سَابِقًا مِنْ أنَّ الَّذِينَ يُمَارِسُونَهَا لَنْ يَرِثُوا مَلَكُوتَ اللهِ. 22 أمَّا ثَمَرُ الرُّوحِ فَهُوَ: المَحَبَّةُ، الفَرَحُ، السَّلَامُ، الصَّبْرُ، اللُّطْفُ، الصَّلَاحُ، الأمَانَةُ، 23 الوَدَاعَةُ، ضَبْطُ النَّفْسِ. وَلَا تُوجَدُ شَرِيعَةٌ تَمْنَعُ هَذِهِ الأُمُورَ. 24 فَالَّذِينَ يَنْتَمُونَ إلَى المَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، قَدْ صَلَبُوا الجَسَدَ مَعَ الأهوَاءِ وَالرَّغَبَاتِ الشِّرِّيرَةِ. 25 فَإنْ كُنَّا نَحيَا بِالرُّوحِ، فَلْنَسْلُكْ أيْضًا كَمَا يَقُودُنَا الرُّوحُ. 26 لَا تَكُونُوا مَغرُورِينَ، يَحْسِدُ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا، وَيَغْضَبُ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ.

Freedom in Christ

5 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.(A) Stand firm,(B) then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.(C)

2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised,(D) Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.(E) 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law(F) have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.(G) 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.(H) 6 For in Christ Jesus(I) neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value.(J) The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.(K)

7 You were running a good race.(L) Who cut in on you(M) to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.(N) 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”(O) 10 I am confident(P) in the Lord that you will take no other view.(Q) The one who is throwing you into confusion,(R) whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty. 11 Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted?(S) In that case the offense(T) of the cross has been abolished. 12 As for those agitators,(U) I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

Life by the Spirit

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.(V) But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a];(W) rather, serve one another(X) humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b](Y) 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit,(Z) and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.(AA) 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.(AB) They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want.(AC) 18 But if you are led by the Spirit,(AD) you are not under the law.(AE)

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality,(AF) impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.(AG) I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.(AH)

22 But the fruit(AI) of the Spirit is love,(AJ) joy, peace,(AK) forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.(AL) Against such things there is no law.(AM) 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh(AN) with its passions and desires.(AO) 25 Since we live by the Spirit,(AP) let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited,(AQ) provoking and envying each other.
