1 مِنْ بُولُسَ عَبْدِ المَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، المَدْعُوِّ لأكُونَ رَسُولًا، وَلأُنَادِيَ بِبِشَارَةِ اللهِ 2 الَّتِي سَبَقَ أنْ وَعَدَنَا اللهُ بِهَا مِنْ خِلَالِ الأنْبِيَاءِ فِي الكُتُبِ المُقَدَّسَةِ. 3 وَهِيَ البِشَارَةُ المُختَصَّةُ بِابنِهِ الَّذِي يَعُودُ نَسَبُهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ بَشَرِيَّتِهِ إلَى دَاوُدَ. 4 وَبِالرُّوحِ القُدُسِ،[a] أُقِيمَ مِنَ المَوْتِ، فَتَبَرهَنَ بِقُوَّةٍ أنَّهُ هُوَ ابْنُ اللهِ، 5 الَّذِي فِيهِ نِلتُ أنَا نِعْمَةَ أنْ أكُونَ رَسولًا لِغَيرِ اليَهُودِ، لِكَي يَأتُوا إلَى طَاعَةِ اللهِ بِالإيمَانِ، مِنْ أجْلِ اسْمِهِ. 6 وَأنْتُمْ أيْضًا[b] مَدعُوُّونَ مِنَ اللهِ لِلَانتِمَاءِ إلَى يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ. 7 إلَيكُمْ جَمِيعًا، أنْتُمِ المَوجُودِينَ فِي رُومَا. أنْتُمْ مَحبُوبُونَ مِنَ اللهِ الَّذِي دَعَاكُمْ لِتَكُونُوا مُقَدَّسِينَ لَهُ. لِتَكُنْ لَكُمْ نِعْمَةٌ وَسَلَامٌ مِنَ اللهِ أبِينَا، وَمِنَ الرَّبِّ يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ.
صَلَاةُ شُكر
8 أوَّلًا أنَا أشكُرُ اللهَ بِيَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ مِنْ أجْلِكُمْ جَمِيعًا، لِأنَّ إيمَانَكُمْ هُوَ حَدِيثُ العَالَمِ كُلِّهِ. 9 وَيَشْهَدُ اللهُ الَّذِي أخدِمُهُ بِكُلِّ قَلْبِي وَأُنَادِي بِبِشَارَةِ ابنِهِ، أنِّي أذكُرُكُمْ فِي صَلَوَاتِي دَائِمًا. 10 وَأنَا أُصَلِّي إلَى اللهِ دَائِمًا أنْ يُتِيحَ لِي فُرصَةَ زِيَارَتِكُمْ، إنْ كَانَتْ تِلْكَ مَشِيئَتُهُ. 11 فَأنَا فِي أشَدِّ الشَّوقِ إلَى رُؤيَتِكُمْ، لِكَي أُشَارِكَكُمْ فِي عَطِيَّةٍ رُوحِيَّةٍ، فَتَتَقَوَّوْا، 12 وَنَتَشَجَّعَ مَعًا، حِينَ أكُونُ بَيْنَكُمْ، بِالإيمَانِ الَّذِي فِينَا. فَأتَشَجَّعَ بِإيمَانِكُمْ وَتَتَشَجَّعُوا بِإيمَانِي.
13 أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ، أُرِيدُكُمْ أنْ تَعْرِفُوا أنَّنِي كَثِيرًا مَا نَوَيتُ أنْ أزُورَكُمْ، كَمَا فِي بَقِيَّةِ الأُمَمِ غَيْرِ اليَهُودِيةِ، لَكِنِّي أُعِقْتُ حَتَّى الآنَ. 14 أنَا مَدِينٌ لِليُونَانِيِّينَ وَغَيرِ اليُونَانِيِّينَ، لَلمُتَعَلِّمِينَ وَلِغَيرِ المُتَعَلِّمِينَ. 15 لِهَذَا أنَا مُسْتَعِدٌّ أنْ أُعْلِنَ لَكُمْ أنْتُمِ المَوجُودِينَ فِي رُومَا هَذِهِ البِشَارَةَ. 16 فَأنَا لَا أخجَلُ مِنَ البِشَارَةِ بِالمَسِيحِ، فَهِيَ قُوَّةُ اللهِ لِخَلَاصِ كُلِّ مَنْ يُؤمِنُ. أوَّلًا لِليَهُودِ، وَالْآنَ لِغَيرِ اليَهُودِ أيْضًا. 17 فَفِي البِشَارَةِ، يُعلَنُ أنَّ اللهَ يُبَرِّرُ بِالإيمَانِ مِنَ البِدَايَةِ إلَى النِّهَايَةِ. فَكَمَا يَقُولُ الكِتَابُ:
«البَارُّ بِالإيمَانِ يَحيَا.»[c]
جَمِيعُ النَّاسِ أخطَأُوا
18 إنَّ غَضَبَ اللهِ مُعلَنٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ عَلَى كُلِّ شَرِّ وَإثْمِ النَّاسِ الَّذِينَ يُخْفُونَ الحَقَّ بِإثمِهِمْ. 19 هَذَا لِأنَّ المَعْرِفَةَ عَنِ اللهِ وَاضِحَةٌ لَهُمْ، لِأنَّ اللهَ جَعَلَهَا وَاضِحَةً لَهُمْ. 20 فَمُنذُ أنْ خُلِقَ العَالَمُ، يَسْتَطِيعُ الإنْسَانُ أنْ يَفْهَمَ وَأنْ يُدرِكَ صِفَاتِ اللهِ غَيْرَ المَرئِيَّةِ، كَقُوَّتِهِ السَّرمَدِيَّةِ[d] وَأُلُوهِيَّتِهِ، لِأنَّ إدرَاكَهَا مُمْكِنٌ مِنْ خِلَالِ الأشْيَاءِ الَّتِي خَلَقَهَا. وَلِهَذَا فَإنَّ النَّاسَ بِلَا عُذرٍ. 21 فَقَدْ عَرَفُوا اللهُ، لَكِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يُعطُوهُ مَا يَلِيقُ بِهِ مِنْ إكرَامٍ أوْ يَشْكُرُوهُ، بَلْ أظلَمَتْ أفكَارُهُمُ الغَبِيَّةُ. 22 ادَّعَوْا الحِكْمَةَ، إلَّا أنَّهُمْ صَارُوا أغبِيَاءَ. 23 وَاستَبْدَلُوا مَجْدَ اللهِ الَّذِي لَا يَفْنَى، بِصُوَرٍ تُشبِهُ الإنْسَانَ وَالطُّيُورَ وَالدَّوَابَ وَالزَّوَاحِفَ الفَانِيةَ.
24 كَانَتْ شَهَوَاتُ قُلُوبِهِمْ شِرِّيرَةً، فَتَرَكَهُمُ اللهُ يُمَارِسُونَ النَّجَاسَةَ الجِنسِيَّةَ، وَسَمَحَ لَهُمْ بِأنْ يُدَنِّسُوا أجسَادَهُمْ بَعْضُهُمْ مَعَ بَعْضٍ. 25 استَبْدَلُوا حَقَّ اللهِ بِالكَذِبِ، وَأكرَمُوا المَخْلُوقَ وَعَبَدُوه دُونَ الخَالِقِ الَّذِي يَسْتَحِقُّ التَّسبِيحَ وَالكَرَامَةَ إلَى الأبَدِ. 26 لِهَذَا تَرَكَهُمُ اللهُ لِرَغَبَاتِهِمُ المُخزِيَةَ. فَاسْتَبْدَلَتْ نِسَاؤهُمُ العَلَاقَاتِ الطَّبِيعِيَّةَ بِعَلَاقَاتٍ مُخَالِفَةٍ للطَّبِيعَةِ. 27 وَكَذَلِكَ تَرَكَ الرِّجَالُ العَلَاقَاتِ الطَّبِيعِيَّةَ مَعَ النِّسَاءِ، وَالتَهَبُوا شَهوَةً بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ. فَصَارَ الذُّكُورُ يُمَارِسُونَ أُمُورًا فَاحِشَةً مَعَ الذُّكُورِ، وَحَمَلُوا فِي أنْفُسِهِمُ العِقَابَ الَّذِي استَحَقُّوهُ عَلَى انحِرَافِهِمْ.
28 وَبِمَا أنَّهُمْ رَفَضُوا الاعْتِرَافَ بِاللهِ، فَقَدْ تَرَكَهُمُ اللهُ لِعُقُولِهِمُ الفَاسِدَةِ. وَسَمَحَ لَهُمْ بِأنْ يَفْعَلُوا مَا لَا يَلِيقُ. 29 إنَّهُمْ مُمتَلِئُونَ مِنْ كُلِّ إثمٍ وَشَرٍّ وَأنَانِيَّةٍ وَخُبْثٍ. وَهُمْ مُمتَلِئُونَ حَسَدًا وَقَتلًا وَخِصَامًا وَخِدَاعًا وَحِقدًا. 30 مُحِبُّونَ لِلنَّمِيمَةِ، مُفتَرُونَ عَلَى الآخَرِينَ، كَارِهُونَ للهِ، وَقِحُونَ، مَغرُورُونَ، مُتَبَاهُونَ، مُختَرِعُونَ شُرُورًا، لَا يُطِيعُونَ وَالِدِيهِمْ، 31 حَمقَى، لَا يَحْفَظُونَ وُعُودَهُمْ، خَالُونَ مِنَ الحَنَانِ وَالرَّحمَةِ، 32 يَعْرِفُونَ حُكمَ اللهِ العَادِلِ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يُمَارِسُونَ مِثْلَ هَذِهِ الأُمُورِ، وَهُوَ أنَّهُمْ مُسْتَحِقُّونَ لِلمَوْتِ! وَمَعَ ذَلِكَ فَهُمْ لَا يَكْتَفُونَ بِمُمَارَسَتِهَا، بَلْ يُعلِنُونَ أيْضًا استِحسَانَهُمْ لِلَّذِينَ يُمَارِسُونَهَا!

א מאת פולוס, עבדו של ישוע המשיח, אשר נקרא להיות שליח והוקדש להפצת בשורת אלוהים. 2 אלוהים הבטיח לנו בשורה זאת לפני זמן רב באמצעות נביאיו בכתבי-הקודש. 3 היא מספרת לנו על אודות בנו, ישוע המשיח אדוננו, אשר בא לעולם בדמות אדם משושלת דוד המלך, 4 ואשר קם מן המתים על ידי רוח הקודש והוכח להיות בן האלוהים. הוא ישוע המשיח האדון. 5 באמצעות המשיח העניק לנו אלוהים, חוטאים שכמונו, את טובו וחסדו, ועתה הוא שולח אותנו לספר לכל האנשים בעולם את המעשים הנפלאים שעשה ה' למענם, כדי שגם הם יאמינו בו ויצייתו לו.
8 ראשית כל ברצוני לומר לכם כי השמועה על אמונתכם הנפלאה באלוהים מתפשטת בכל העולם, ועל-ידי ישוע המשיח אני מודה לאלוהים על כולכם. 9 אלוהים יודע שיומם ולילה אני מתפלל בעדכם ומזכיר אתכם לפני האלוהים, אשר אותו אני עובד בכל כוחי בזמן שאני מבשר את הבשורה על אודות בנו. 10 בתפילותיי אני מתחנן לאלוהים שיאפשר לי לבוא אליכם סוף-סוף, 11 כי אני משתוקק מאוד לראותכם ולהעניק לכם מתנה רוחנית כדי לחזק אתכם. 12 כלומר, אני משתוקק להיות בחברתכם, כדי שאמונתכם תעודד אותי ואמונתי תעודד אתכם.
13 אחים יקרים, דעו לכם כי פעמים רבות תכננתי לבוא אליכם, כדי שגם בקרבכם אוכל לעשות פרי, כשם שעשיתי בקרב עמים אחרים, אולם עד כה תוכנית זאת לא יצאה לפועל. 14 אני חש מעין חובה לבשר את דבר האלוהים לכל העולם – לאנשי תרבות ולחסרי תרבות; למשכילים ולחסרי השכלה – ללא הפליה. 15 משום כך, אנשי רומא, אני רוצה לספר את הבשורה גם לכם.
16 איני מתבייש בבשורת האלוהים! בכוחה להושיע את כל המאמינים בה – קודם כל את היהודי, ואחר כך גם את מי שאינו יהודי. 17 כי הבשורה מגלה כיצד מצדיק אלוהים את בני-האדם: על-ידי אמונה בלבד, כפי שכתוב: "צדיק באמונתו יחיה". כלומר, הצדיק ייוושע ויחיה על-ידי אמונתו באלוהים.
18 מאידך, אלוהים שפך את זעמו וכעסו על כל הרשעים העוצרים ומסתירים את האמת במעשי הרשע שלהם. 19 מדוע שפך עליהם אלוהים את זעמו? מפני שהם יודעים היטב את האמת! אלוהים עצמו גילה להם את כל מה שעליהם לדעת. 20 מבריאת העולם חזו בני-האדם בשמים, בארץ ובכל בריאת ה'; הם ידעו על קיומו ועל גבורתו הנצחית. משום כך, (כשיעמדו לפני אלוהים ביום הדין), לא יוכלו לתרץ את התנהגותם. 21 כי למרות שידעו והכירו את האלוהים, לא כיבדוהו בכבוד המגיע לו, וגם לא הודו לו על כל מה שעשה למענם. לעומת זאת הם העסיקו את מוחם בדברי שטות והבל, עד כי מוחם שקע בבלבול ובטמטום. 22 מאחורי חכמתם המדומה מסתתרת טיפשות! 23 במקום שיכבדו וישרתו את האלוהים החי והקיים, הם עשו לעצמם אלילים מעץ ומאבן, בדמות בני-אדם, עופות, חיות ורמשים.
24 על כן מסר אותם אלוהים למעשי הטומאה שלהם; הוא הניח להם להמשיך במעשי התועבה והזנות ולחלל איש את גוף חברו. 25 בכוונה תחילה הם העדיפו להאמין בשקרים במקום באמת אלוהים; הם התפללו לבריאה, אך לא צייתו לאלוהים המבורך אשר ברא את הכול.
26 משום כך מסר אותם אלוהים לתאוותיהם, עד כי אף נשותיהם סטו מיחסי-מין נורמאליים וקיימו יחסים בלתי-נורמאליים עם בנות מינן. 27 גם הגברים סטו מהיחסים הנורמאליים והטבעיים וקיימו יחסים בלתי טבעיים עם גברים אחרים. כתוצאה מכך הם נענשו בתוך עצמם בעונש המגיע להם.
28 כאשר לא מצאו לנכון להכיר באלוהים, הוא הניח להם להשתעבד לכל מעשי התועבה שהעלו בדעתם. 29 חייהם מלאו בכל מיני מעשי זנות, רשע, בצע, שנאה, קנאה, רצח, מריבה, מרמה ומרירות. הם נהיו רכלנים 30 ומלשינים, שונאי אלוהים, חוצפנים וגאוותנים, יוזמי רשע ומורדים בהוריהם. 31 הם מתנהגים בטיפשות, בחוסר אמונה, ברשעות ובאכזריות, ומלאי שנאה וטינה.
32 הרשעים האלה ידעו היטב כי אלוהים יעניש עונש מוות את כל הנוהגים כך, אולם לא זו בלבד שלא היטיבו את דרכם, הם גם מעודדים את כל מי שעושה כמוהם!

1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle(A) and set apart(B) for the gospel of God(C)— 2 the gospel he promised beforehand(D) through his prophets(E) in the Holy Scriptures(F) 3 regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life[a](G) was a descendant of David,(H) 4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power[b](I) by his resurrection from the dead:(J) Jesus Christ our Lord.(K) 5 Through him we received grace(L) and apostleship to call all the Gentiles(M) to the obedience that comes from[c] faith(N) for his name’s sake. 6 And you also are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.(O)
7 To all in Rome who are loved by God(P) and called to be his holy people:(Q)
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.(R)
Paul’s Longing to Visit Rome
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you,(S) because your faith is being reported all over the world.(T) 9 God, whom I serve(U) in my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness(V) how constantly I remember you 10 in my prayers at all times;(W) and I pray that now at last by God’s will(X) the way may be opened for me to come to you.(Y)
11 I long to see you(Z) so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift(AA) to make you strong— 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. 13 I do not want you to be unaware,(AB) brothers and sisters,[d](AC) that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now)(AD) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
14 I am obligated(AE) both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. 15 That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.(AF)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel,(AG) because it is the power of God(AH) that brings salvation to everyone who believes:(AI) first to the Jew,(AJ) then to the Gentile.(AK) 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed(AL)—a righteousness that is by faith(AM) from first to last,[e] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”[f](AN)
God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity
18 The wrath of God(AO) is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.(AP) 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made,(AQ) so that people are without excuse.(AR)
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.(AS) 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools(AT) 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images(AU) made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over(AV) in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.(AW) 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie,(AX) and worshiped and served created things(AY) rather than the Creator—who is forever praised.(AZ) Amen.(BA)
26 Because of this, God gave them over(BB) to shameful lusts.(BC) Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.(BD) 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.(BE)
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over(BF) to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,(BG) 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;(BH) 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love,(BI) no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death,(BJ) they not only continue to do these very things but also approve(BK) of those who practice them.
