50 النُّبُوءَةُ الَّتِي قَضَى بِها الرَّبُّ عَلَى بَابِلَ وَعَلَى بِلادِ الْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ عَلَى لِسَانِ إِرْمِيَا النَّبِيِّ:
2 «أَذِيعُوا بَيْنَ الأُمَمِ، وَأَعْلِنُوا. انْصِبُوا الرَّايَةَ وَخَبِّرُوا. لَا تَكْتُمُوا. قُولُوا: قَدْ تَمَّ الاسْتِيْلاءُ عَلَى بَابِلَ وَلَحِقَ بِبِيلَ الْعَارُ وَتَحَطَّمَ مَرُودَخُ. خَرِبَتْ أَصْنَامُهَا وَانْسَحَقَتْ أَوْثَانُهَا. 3 لأَنَّ أُمَّةً مِنَ الشِّمَالِ قَدْ زَحَفَتْ عَلَيْهَا لِتَجْعَلَ أَرْضَهَا مَهْجُورَةً. شَرَدَ مِنْهَا النَّاسُ وَالْبَهَائِمُ جَمِيعاً.
4 وَفِي تِلْكَ الأَيَّامِ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ، يَتَوَافَدُ أَبْنَاءُ إِسْرَائِيلَ وَأَبْنَاءُ يَهُوذَا مَعاً. يَبْكُونَ فِي سَيْرِهِمْ وَيَلْتَمِسُونَ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَهُمْ. 5 يَسْأَلُونَ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ إِلَى صِهْيَوْنَ، وَيَتَوَجَّهُونَ إِلَيْهَا قَائِلِينَ: هَلُمَّ نَنْضَمُّ إِلَى الرَّبِّ بِعَهْدٍ أَبَدِيٍّ لَا يُنْسَى. 6 إِنَّ شَعْبِي كَغَنَمٍ ضَالَّةٍ، أَضَلَّهُمْ رُعَاتُهُمْ، وَشَرَّدُوهُمْ عَلَى الْجِبَالِ، فَتَاهُوا مَا بَيْنَ الْجَبَلِ وَالتَّلِّ وَنَسَوْا مَرْبَضِهُمْ. 7 كُلُّ مَنْ وَجَدَهُمُ افْتَرَسَهُمْ، وَقَالَ أَعْدَاؤُهُمْ: لَا ذَنْبَ عَلَيْنَا لأَنَّهُمْ هُمُ الَّذِينَ أَخْطَأُوا فِي حَقِّ الرَّبِّ الَّذِي هُوَ مَلاذُهُمُ الْحَقُّ، وَرَجَاءُ آبَائِهِمْ. 8 اهْرُبُوا مِنْ وَسَطِ بَابِلَ وَاخْرُجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِ الْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ وَكُونُوا كَالتُّيُوسِ أَمَامَ قَطِيعِ الْغَنَمِ.
9 فَهَا أَنَا أُثِيرُ وَأَجْلِبُ عَلَى بَابِلَ حُشُودَ أُمَمٍ عَظِيمَةٍ مِنْ أَرْضِ الشِّمَالِ فَيَصْطَفُّونَ عَلَيْهَا، وَيَسْتَوْلُونَ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ الشِّمَالِ، وَتَكُونُ سِهَامُهُمْ كَجَبَّارٍ مُتَمَرِّسٍ لَا يَرْجِعُ فَارِغاً، 10 فَتُصْبِحُ أَرْضُ الْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ غَنِيمَةً، وَكُلُّ مَنْ يَسْلُبُهَا يُتْخَمُ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ. 11 لأَنَّكُمْ تَبْتَهِجُونَ وَتَطْفُرُونَ غِبْطَةً يَا نَاهِبِي شَعْبِي، وَتَمْرَحُونَ كَعِجْلَةٍ فَوْقَ الْعُشْبِ وَتَصْهِلُونَ كَالْخَيْلِ. 12 فَإِنَّ أُمَّكُمْ قَدْ لَحِقَهَا الْخِزْيُ الشَّدِيدُ وَانْتَابَهَا الْخَجَلُ. هَا هِيَ تُضْحِي أَقَلَّ الشُّعُوبِ، وَأَرْضُهَا تَصِيرُ قَفْراً جَافّاً وَصَحْرَاءَ. 13 وَتَظَلُّ بِأَسْرِهَا مَهْجُورَةً وَخَرِبَةً، كُلُّ مَنْ يَمُرُّ بِبَابِلَ يُصِيبُهُ الذُّعْرُ وَيَصْفَرُ دَهْشَةً لِمَا ابْتُلِيَتْ بِهِ مِنْ نَكْبَاتٍ، لأَنَّهَا أَثَارَتْ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ. 14 اصْطَفُّوا عَلَى بَابِلَ مِنْ كُلِّ نَاحِيَةٍ يَا جَمِيعَ مُوَتِّرِي الأَقْوَاسِ. ارْمُوا السِّهَامَ وَلا تُبْقُوا مِنْهَا سَهْماً وَاحِداً، لأَنَّهَا قَدْ أَخْطَأَتْ فِي حَقِّ الرَّبِّ. 15 أَطْلِقُوا هُتَافَ الْحَرْبِ عَلَيْهَا مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ، فَقَدِ اسْتَسْلَمَتْ وَانْهَارَتْ أُسُسُهَا، وَتَقَوَّضَتْ أَسْوَارُهَا، لأَنَّ هَذَا هُوَ انْتِقَامُ الرَّبِّ، فَاثْأَرُوا مِنْهَا، وَعَامِلُوهَا بِمِثْلِ مَا عَامَلَتْكُمْ. 16 اسْتَأْصِلُوا الزَّارِعَ مِنْ بَابِلَ وَالْحَاصِدَ بِالْمِنْجَلِ فِي مَوْسِمِ الْحَصَادِ إِذْ يَرْجِعُ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ، وَيَهْرُبُ إِلَى أَرْضِهِ فِرَاراً مِنْ سَيْفِ الْعَاتِي.
17 إِسْرَائِيلُ قَطِيعُ غَنَمٍ مُتَشَتِّتٌ، طَرَدَتْهُ الأُسُودُ. كَانَ مَلِكُ أَشُّورَ أَوَّلَ مَنِ افْتَرَسَهُ، وَنَبُوخَذْنَصَّرُ آخِرَ مَنْ هَشَّمَ عِظَامَهُ. 18 لِذَلِكَ هَذَا مَا يُعْلِنُهُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ إِلَهُ إِسْرَائِيلَ: هَا أَنَا أُعَاقِبُ مَلِكَ بَابِلَ وَأَرْضَهُ. كَمَا عَاقَبْتُ مَلِكَ أَشُّورَ مِنْ قَبْلُ. 19 وَأَرُدُّ إِسْرَائِيلَ إِلَى مَرْتَعِهِ، فَيَرْعَى فِي الْكَرْمَلِ وَفِي بَاشَانَ، وَتَشْبَعُ نَفْسُهُ فِي جَبَلِ أَفْرَايِمَ وَجِلْعَادَ. 20 وَفِي ذَلِكَ الزَّمَانِ وَالأَوَانِ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ، يُلْتَمَسُ إِثْمُ إِسْرَائِيلَ فَلا يُوْجَدُ، وَخَطِيئَةُ يَهُوذَا فَلا تَكُونُ، لأَنِّي أَعْفُو عَمَّنْ أَبْقَيْتُهُ مِنْهُمَا.
21 ازْحَفْ عَلَى أَرْضِ مِيَراثَايِمَ (وَمَعْنَاهُ: الْمُفْرِطُ فِي التَّمَرُّدِ)، وَعَلَى الْمُقِيمِينَ فِي فَقُودَ (وَمَعْنَاهُ: الْعِقَابُ). خَرِّبْ، وَدَمِّرْ وَرَاءَهُمْ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ وَافْعَلْ كُلَّ مَا آمُرُكَ بِهِ. 22 قَدْ عَلَتْ جَلَبَةُ الْقِتَالِ فِي الأَرْضِ. صَوْتُ تَحْطِيمٍ عَظِيمٍ. 23 كَيْفَ تَكَسَّرَتْ وَتَحَطَّمَتْ بَابِلُ، مِطْرَقَةُ الأَرْضِ كُلِّهَا؟ كَيْفَ أَصْبَحَتْ بَابِلُ مَثَارَ دَهْشَةٍ عِنْدَ الأُمَمِ؟ 24 قَدْ نَصَبْتُ الشَّرَكَ فَوَقَعْتِ فِيهِ، يَا بَابِلُ، مِنْ غَيرِ أَنْ تَشْعُرِي بِهِ. قَدْ وُجِدْتِ وَقُبِضَ عَلَيْكِ، لأَنَّكِ خَاصَمْتِ الرَّبَّ. 25 قَدْ فَتَحَ الرَّبُّ مَخْزَنَ سِلاحِهِ، وَأَخْرَجَ آلاتِ سُخْطِهِ، لأَنَّهُ مَا بَرِحَ لِلسَّيِّدِ الرَّبِّ الْقَدِيرِ عَمَلٌ يُنْجِزُهُ فِي دِيَارِ الْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ. 26 ازْحَفُوا عَلَيْهَا مِنْ أَقَاصِي الأَرْضِ، وَافْتَحُوا أَهْرَاءَهَا، وَكَوِّمُوهَا أَعْرَاماً وَاقْضُوا عَلَيْهَا قَاطِبَةً وَلا تَتْرُكُوا مِنْهَا بَقِيَّةً. 27 اذْبَحُوا جَمِيعَ ثِيرَانِهَا، أَحْضِرُوهَا لِلذَّبْحِ. وَيْلٌ لَهُمْ لأَنَّ يَوْمَ مَوْعِدِ عِقَابِهِمْ قَدْ حَانَ. 28 اسْمَعُوا! هَا جَلَبَةُ الْفَارِّينَ النَّاجِينَ مِنْ دِيَارِ بَابِلَ لِكَيْ يُذِيعُوا فِي صِهْيَوْنَ أَنْبَاءَ انْتِقَامِ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِنَا وَالثَّأْرِ لِهَيْكَلِهِ. 29 اسْتَدْعُوا إِلَى بَابِلَ رُمَاةَ السِّهَامِ، جَمِيعَ مُوَتِّرِي الْقِسِيِّ. عَسْكِرُوا حَوْلَهَا فَلا يُفْلِتَ مِنْهَا أَحَدٌ. جَازُوهَا بِمُقْتَضَى أَعْمَالِهَا، وَاصْنَعُوا بِها كَمَا صَنَعَتْ بِكُمْ، لأَنَّهَا بَغَتْ عَلَى الرَّبِّ قُدُّوسِ إِسْرَائِيلَ. 30 لِذَلِكَ يُصْرَعُ شُبَّانُهَا فِي سَاحَاتِهَا، وَيَبِيدُ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ جَمِيعُ جُنُودِهَا، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ. 31 هَا أَنَا أُقَاوِمُكِ أَيَّتُهَا الْمُتَغَطْرِسَةُ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ، لأَنَّ يَوْمَ إِدَانَتِكِ وَتَنْفِيذِ الْعِقَابِ فِيكِ قَدْ حَانَ، 32 فَيَتَعَثَّرُ الْمُتَغَطْرِسُ وَيَكْبُو وَلا يُوْجَدُ مَنْ يُنْهِضُهُ، وَأُضْرِمُ نَاراً فِي مُدُنِهِ فَتَلْتَهِمُ مَا حَوْلَهُ».
33 وَهَذَا مَا يُعْلِنُهُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ: «قَدْ وَقَعَ الظُّلْمُ عَلَى شَعْبِ إِسْرَائِيلَ وَعَلَى شَعْبِ يَهُوذَا، وَجَمِيعُ الَّذِينَ سَبَوْهُمْ تَشَبَّثُوا بِهِمْ وَأَبَوْا أَنْ يُطْلِقُوهُمْ. 34 غَيْرَ أَنَّ فَادِيَهُمْ قَوِيٌّ، الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ اسْمُهُ، وَهُوَ حَتْماً يُدَافِعُ عَنْ قَضِيَّتِهِمْ لِكَيْ يُشِيعَ رَاحَةً فِي الأَرْضِ وَيُقْلِقَ أَهْلَ بَابِلَ. 35 هَا سَيْفٌ عَلَى الْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ»، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ، «وَعَلَى أَهْلِ بَابِلَ، وَعَلَى أَشْرَافِهَا، وَعَلَى حُكَمَائِهَا.
36 هَا سَيْفٌ عَلَى عَرَّافِيهَا، فَيُصْبِحُونَ حَمْقَى. وَهَا سَيْفٌ عَلَى مُحَارِبِيهَا، فَيَمْتَلِئُونَ رُعْباً. 37 هَا سَيْفٌ عَلَى خَيْلِهَا، وَعَلَى مَرْكَبَاتِهَا، وَعَلَى فِرَقِ مُرْتَزَقَتِهَا، فَيَصِيرُونَ كَالنِّسَاءِ. هَا سَيْفٌ عَلَى كُنُوزِهَا فَتُنْهَبُ. 38 هَا الْحَرُّ عَلَى مِيَاهِهَا فَيُصِيبُهَا الْجَفَافُ لأَنَّهَا أَرْضُ أَصْنَامٍ، وَقَدْ أُولِعَ أَهْلُهَا بِالأَوْثَانِ. 39 لِذَلِكَ يَسْكُنُهَا وَحْشُ الْقَفْرِ مَعَ بَنَاتِ آوَى، وَتَأْوِي إِلَيْهَا رِعَالُ النَّعَامِ، وَتَظَلُّ مَهْجُورَةً إِلَى الأَبَدِ، غَيْرَ آهِلَةٍ بِالسُّكَّانِ إِلَى مَدَى الدَّهْرِ. 40 وَكَمَا قَلَبَ اللهُ سَدُومَ وَعَمُورَةَ وَمَا جَاوَرَهُمَا، هَكَذَا لَنْ يَسْكُنَ فِيهَا أَحَدٌ أَوْ يُقِيمَ فِيهَا إِنْسَانٌ». 41 هَا شَعْبٌ مُقْبِلٌ مِنَ الشِّمَالِ، أُمَّةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ وَلَفِيفٌ مِنَ الْمُلُوكِ قَدْ هَبُّوا مِنْ أَقَاصِي الأَرْضِ. 42 يُمْسِكُونَ بِالْقِسِيِّ وَيَتَقَلَّدُونَ بِالرِّمَاحِ. قُسَاةٌ لَا يَعْرِفُونَ الرَّحْمَةَ، جَلَبَتُهُمْ كَهَدِيرِ الْبَحْرِ، يَمْتَطُونَ الْخَيْلَ وَقَدِ اصْطَفُّوا كَرَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ لِمُحَارَبَتِكِ يَا بِنْتَ بَابِلَ. 43 قَدْ بَلَغَ خَبَرُهُمْ مَلِكَ بَابِلَ فَاسْتَرْخَتْ يَدُهُ وَانْتَابَتْهُ الضِّيقَةُ وَوَجَعُ امْرَأَةٍ فِي مَخَاضِهَا. 44 انْظُرْ، هَا هُوَ يَنْقَضُّ عَلَيْهَا كَمَا يَنْقَضُّ أَسَدٌ مِنْ أَجَمَاتِ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ، هَكَذَا وَفِي لَحْظَةٍ أَطْرُدُهُمْ مِنْهَا، وَأُوَلِّي عَلَيْهَا مَنْ أَخْتَارُهُ لأَنَّهُ مَنْ هُوَ نَظِيرِي؟ وَمَنْ يُحَاكِمُنِي؟ وَأَيُّ رَاعٍ يَقْوَى عَلَى مُوَاجَهَتِي؟ 45 لِذَلِكَ اسْمَعُوا مَا خَطَّطَهُ الرَّبُّ ضِدَّ بَابِلَ، وَمَا دَبَّرَهُ ضِدَّ دِيَارِ الْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ. هَا صِغَارُهُمْ يُجَرُّونَ جَرّاً، وَيَخْرِبُ مَسَاكِنَهُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ. 46 مِنْ دَوِيِّ أَصْدَاءِ سُقُوطِ بَابِلَ تَرْجُفُ الأَرْضُ، وَيَتَرَدَّدُ صُرَاخُهَا بَيْنَ الأُمَمِ.

50 La parola che l'Eterno pronunciò contro Babilonia e contro il paese dei Caldei per mezzo del profeta Geremia:
2 «Annunziatelo fra le nazioni, proclamatelo e innalzate una bandiera; proclamatelo e non nascondetelo. Dite: "Babilonia è presa. Bel, è coperto di vergogna, Merodak è infranto, le sue immagini sono coperte di vergogna, i suoi idoli sono infranti".
3 Poiché dal nord sale contro di lei una nazione che ridurrà il paese a un deserto e nessuno piú abiterà in essa; uomini e bestie fuggiranno, se ne andranno.
4 In quei giorni e in quel tempo», dice l'Eterno, «i figli d'Israele e i figli di Giuda verranno insieme; cammineranno piangendo e cercheranno l'Eterno il loro DIO.
5 Domanderanno della via di Sion verso cui volgeranno le loro facce, dicendo: "Venite, uniamoci all'Eterno, con un patto eterno, che non sia piú dimenticato
6 Il mio popolo è stato un gregge di pecore smarrite; i loro pastori le avevano sviate, le avevano fatte smarrire sui monti. Sono andate di monte in colle e hanno dimenticato il luogo del loro riposo.
7 Tutti quelli che le trovavano, le divoravano, e i loro nemici dicevano: "Non siamo colpevoli, perché hanno peccato contro l'Eterno, dimora della giustizia, l'Eterno, speranza dei loro padri".
8 Fuggite di mezzo a Babilonia, uscite dal paese dei Caldei e siate come capri davanti al gregge.
9 Poiché ecco, io suscito e faccio salire contro Babilonia una moltitudine di grandi nazioni dal paese del nord, e si schiereranno contro di essa; di là essa sarà presa. Le loro frecce sono come quelle di un abile arciere; nessuna ritorna a vuoto.
10 La Caldea sarà abbandonata al saccheggio; tutti i suoi saccheggiatori saranno saziati», dice l'Eterno.
11 «Gioite e rallegratevi, o saccheggiatori della mia eredità, perché vi siete ingrassati come una giovenca che trebbia il grano e nitrite come forti destrieri.
12 Vostra madre sarà grandemente svergognata, colei che vi ha partoriti arrossirà. Ecco, essa sarà l'ultima delle nazioni, un deserto, una terra arida, una solitudine,
13 A motivo dell'ira dell'Eterno non sarà piú abitata, sarà una completa desolazione; chiunque passerà vicino a Babilonia rimarrà stupito e fischierà per tutte le sue ferite.
14 Schieratevi tutt'intorno a Babilonia, o voi tutti tiratori d'arco. Tirate contro di essa, non risparmiate alcuna freccia, perché ha peccato contro l'Eterno.
15 Mandate grida di guerra contro di essa tutt'intorno; ella si è arresa le sue fondamenta sono cadute, le sue mura sono crollate, perché questa è la vendetta dell'Eterno. Vendicatevi di lei. Fate a lei come essa ha fatto ad altri,
16 Sterminate da Babilonia chi semina e chi impugna la falce al tempo della messe. Per paura della spada dell'oppressore ciascuno ritornerà al suo popolo, ciascuno fuggirà al proprio paese.
17 Israele è una pecora smarrita, a cui i leoni hanno dato la caccia; per primo l'ha divorata il re di Assiria, poi quest'ultimo, Nebukadnetsar, re di Babilonia, le ha frantumato le ossa».
18 Perciò cosí dice l'Eterno degli eserciti, il DIO d'Israele: «Ecco, io punirò il re di Babilonia e il suo paese, come ho punito il re di Assiria.
19 Ma ricondurrò Israele al suo pascolo, pascolerà sul Karmel e in Bashan e la sua anima si sazierà sui colli di Efraim e in Galaad.
20 In quei giorni, in quel tempo», dice l'Eterno, «si cercherà l'iniquità d'Israele, ma non ce ne sarà alcuna, e i peccati di Giuda, ma non si troveranno; perché io perdonerò a quelli che lascerò come residuo.
21 Sali contro il paese di Merathaim, e contro gli abitanti di Pekod. Devasta e votali allo sterminio», dice l'Eterno, «e fa' esattamente come io ti ho comandato!
22 Nel paese c'è rumore di guerra e la distruzione è grande.
23 Perché è stato fatto a pezzi e distrutto il martello di tutta la terra? Perché Babilonia è divenuta una desolazione fra le nazioni?
24 Ti ho teso un laccio e tu sei stata presa, o Babilonia, senza avvedertene. Sei stata trovata e catturata, perché hai fatto guerra contro l'Eterno.
25 L'Eterno ha aperto il suo arsenale e ha tratto fuori le armi della sua indignazione, poiché questa è un'opera che il Signore, l'Eterno degli eserciti, deve compiere nel paese dei Caldei.
26 Venite contro di lei dalle estremità piú lontane, aprite i suoi granai, fatene un mucchio di rovine e votatela allo sterminio, che nulla ne resti.
27 Uccidete tutti i suoi tori, scendano al macello. Guai a loro, perché il loro giorno è giunto, il giorno della loro punizione.
28 Si ode la voce di quelli che fuggono e scappano dal paese di Babilonia per annunciare in Sion la vendetta dell'Eterno, il nostro DIO, la vendetta del suo tempio.
29 Convocate contro Babilonia gli arcieri, tutti quelli che tendono l'arco. Accampatevi tutt'intorno contro di lei, nessuno scampi. Ripagatela secondo le sue opere, fate a lei esattamente come lei ha fatto ad altri, perché è stata arrogante contro l'Eterno, contro il Santo d'Israele.
30 Perciò i suoi giovani cadranno nelle sue piazze e tutti i suoi uomini di guerra periranno in quel giorno», dice l'Eterno.
31 «Eccomi contro di te, o arrogante» dice il Signore, l'Eterno degli eserciti «perché il tuo giorno è giunto, il tempo in cui ti punirò.
32 L'arrogante vacillerà e cadrà, e nessuno lo rialzerà. Io appiccherò il fuoco alle sue città, e divorerà tutto ciò che lo circonda».
33 Cosí dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: «I figli d'Israele erano oppressi insieme ai figli di Giuda. Tutti quelli che li hanno portati in cattività li hanno tenuti saldamente e hanno rifiutato di lasciarli andare.
34 Il loro Redentore è forte; il suo nome è l'Eterno degli eserciti. Egli difenderà certamente la loro causa per dar riposo alla terra e per far tremare gli abitanti di Babilonia.
35 Una spada pende sui Caldei», dice l'Eterno, «sugli abitanti di Babilonia, sui suoi principi, sui suoi savi.
36 Una spada pende sui bugiardi vanagloriosi, che risulteranno insensati; una spada pende sui suoi prodi, che saranno atterriti.
37 Una spada pende sui suoi cavalli, sui suoi carri e su tutto il miscuglio di gente che è in mezzo a lei, la quale diventerà come tante donne, una spada pende sui suoi tesori, che saranno saccheggiati.
38 Una siccità pende sulle sue acque, che saranno prosciugate, perché e un paese di immagini scolpite e vanno pazzi per i loro idoli.
39 Perciò vi abiteranno le bestie del deserto con gli sciacalli e vi si stabiliranno gli struzzi. Non sarà mai piú abitata né popolata di generazione in generazione.
40 Come DIO distrusse Sodoma Gomorra e le città loro vicine», dice l'Eterno, «cosí non vi abiterà piú alcuno né vi dimorerà piú figlio d'uomo.
41 Ecco, un popolo viene dal nord una grande nazione e molti re sono suscitati dalle estremità della terra.

50 هَذِهِ هِيَ الرِّسَالَةُ الَّتِي تَكَلَّمَ بِهَا اللهُ عَنْ بَابِلَ وَأرْضِ البَابِلِيِّينَ عَلَى فَمِ إرْمِيَا النَّبِيِّ.
2 «أعلِنُوا لِكُلِّ الأُمَمِ وَخَبِّرُوا،
ارفَعُوا رَايَةً،
أخبِرُوا.
لَا تُخفُوا الأمْرَ،
قُولُوا: ‹أُخِذَتْ بَابِلُ،
خَزِيَ بِيلٌ،
ارتَعَبَ مَرُودَخُ.
أصْنَامُهَا خَزِيَتْ،
تَمَاثِيلُهَا ارتَعَبَتْ.›
3 لِأنَّ أُمَّةً قَدْ صَعِدَتْ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ الشِّمَالِ،
تُريدُ أنْ تَجْعَلَ أرْضَهَا خَرِبَةً.
لَنْ يَكُونَ فِيهَا سَاكِنٌ،
سَيَهْرُبُ مِنْهَا النَّاسُ وَالحَيَوَانَاتُ.
4 فِي تِلْكَ الأيَّامِ وَذَلِكَ الوَقْتِ،»
يَقُولُ اللهُ،
«سَيَأْتِي بَنُو إسْرَائِيلَ وَبَنُو يَهُوذَا مَعًا،
سَيَأْتُونَ وَهُمْ يَبْكُونَ،
وَسَيَطْلُبُونَ إلَهَهُمْ.
5 سَيَسألُونَ عَنْ صِهْيَوْنَ،
وَهِيَ سَتَكُونُ مَنَارَتَهُمْ،
سَيَأْتُونَ وَيَلْتَصِقُونَ بِاللهِ.
فِي عَهْدٍ أبَدِيٍّ لَا يُنْسَى.
6 «صَارَ شَعْبِي خِرَافًا ضَالَّةً،
رُعَاتُهُمْ أضَلُّوهُمْ،
شَتَّتُوهُمْ عَلَى الجِبَالِ.
يَذْهَبُونَ مِنْ جَبَلٍ إلَى تَلَّةٍ.
نَسَوْا مَكَانَ رَاحَتِهِمْ.
7 كُلُّ مَنْ وَجَدَهُمْ التَهَمَهُمْ،
قَالَ أعْدَاؤُهُمْ:
‹لَسنَا مُذنِبِينَ،
لِأنَّ أُولَئِكَ النَّاسَ أخْطَأُوا إلَى اللهِ،
الَّذِي هُوَ مَرعَاهُمُ الرَّائِعُ،
اللهُ، الَّذِي وَضَعَ آبَاؤُهُمْ رَجَاءَهُمْ فِيهِ.›
8 «اهرُبُوا مِنْ وَسَطِ بَابِلَ،
مِنْ أرْضِ البَابِلِيِّينَ.
اخرُجُوا وَكُونُوا مِثْلَ التُّيُوسِ الَّتِي تَسِيرُ أمَامَ الغَنَمِ.
9 لِأنِّي سَأنهَضُ وَأجْلِبُ عَلَى بَابِلَ
جَمَاعَةً مِنْ أُمَمٍ عَظِيمَةٍ،
مِنْ أرْضِ الشِّمَالِ.
سَيَجْتَمِعُونَ مَعًا ضِدَّهَا،
وَسَتُسبَى مِنَ الشِّمَالِ.
سَتَكُونُ سِهَامُهُمْ كَالمُحَارِبِينَ المَهَرَةِ،
الَّذِينَ لَا يَعُودُونَ فَارِغِي الأيدِي.
10 فَسَيُسلَبُ البَابِلِيُّونَ،
وَسَيَشْبَعُ الَّذِي سَيَسْبِيهَا،»
يَقُولُ اللهُ.
11 «مَعَ أنَّكُمْ تَحْتَفِلُونَ،
وَمَعَ أنَّكُمْ، أيُّهَا السَّالِبُونَ مِيرَاثِي، تَفْرَحُونَ،
وَمَعَ أنَّكُمْ تَرْقُصُونَ كَبَقَرَةٍ دَائِسَةٍ،
وَتَصْهَلُونَ كَخَيلٍ قَوِيَّةٍ،
12 إلَّا أنَّ أُمَّكُمْ سَتَخْجَلُ،
وَالَّتِي حَمَلَتكُمْ سَتُخزَى.
فَبَعدَ مَجِيءِ الأُمَمِ وَذَهَابِهَا،
لَنْ تَكُونَ بَابِلُ سِوَى بَرِّيَّةٍ وَأرْضٍ قَاحِلَةٍ وَصَحرَاءَ.
13 بِسَبَبِ غَضَبِ اللهِ لَنْ تُسكَنَ،
لَكِنَّهَا سَتُخَرَّبُ بِالْكَامِلِ.
كُلُّ مَنْ يَمُرُّ فِي بَابِلَ سَيَنْدَهِشُ،
وَسَيَصْفُرُونَ استِهزَاءً عَلَى جُرُوحِهَا.
14 «حَاصِرُوا بَابِلَ يَا كُلَّ ضَارِبِي السِّهَامِ،
ارمُوا عَلَيْهَا جَمِيعَ سِهَامِكُمْ
لِأنَّهَا قَدْ أخطَأتْ إلَى اللهِ.
15 اهتِفُوا عَلَيْهَا مِنْ كُلِّ الجِهَاتِ حَوْلَهَا.
إنَّهَا تَطْلُبُ الرَّحمَةَ.
أعمِدَتُهَا قَدْ سَقَطَتْ،
أسوَارُهَا تَهَدَّمَتْ.
لِأنَّ هَذِهِ هِيَ نَقمَةُ اللهِ،
انتَقِمُوا مِنْهَا.
اصنَعُوا بِهَا كَمَا صَنَعَتْ بِالآخَرِينَ.
16 اقطَعُوا كُلَّ زَارَعٍ مِنْ بَابِلَ،
وَكَلَّ مَنْ يُمْسِكُ بِمِنجَلِهِ وَقْتَ الحَصَادِ.
كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ سَيَتْرُكُ المَعرَكَةَ الشَّدِيدَةَ لِيَذْهَبَ إلَى شَعْبِهِ،
وَكُلُّ وَاحِدٍ سَيَهْرُبُ إلَى أرْضِهِ.
17 «إسْرَائِيلُ قَطِيعٌ مُشَتَّتٌ
طَارَدَتْهُ الأُسُودُ.
أوَّلُ مَنْ أكَلَهُمْ كَانَ مَلِكَ أشُّورَ،
وَآخِرُ مَنْ أكَلَ عِظَامَهُمْ كَانَ نَبُوخَذْنَاصَّرَ مَلِكَ بَابِلَ.»
18 لِذَلِكَ هَذَا هُوَ مَا يَقُولُهُ اللهُ القَدِيرُ، إلَهُ إسْرَائِيلَ:
«سَأُعَاقِبُ مَلِكَ بَابِلَ وَأرْضَهُ،
كَمَا عَاقَبتُ مَلِكَ أشُّورَ.
19 «سَآتِي بِإسْرَائِيلَ إلَى مَرعَاهُ.
وَسَيَرْعَى فِي الكَرمِلِ وَبَاشَانَ،
وَفِي تِلَالِ أفْرَايِمَ وَفِي جِلعَادَ
سَيَكُونُ هُنَاكَ طَعَامٌ وَفِيرٌ.»
20 يَقُولُ اللهُ:
«فِي تِلْكَ الأيَّامِ، وَفِي ذَلِكَ الوَقْتِ،
سَيَبْحَثُ النَّاسُ عَنْ إثمِ إسْرَائِيلَ،
لَكِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يَجِدُوا شَيْئًا،
وَسَيَبْحَثُونَ عَنْ خَطَايَا يَهُوذَا،
فَلَنْ يَجِدُوهَا،
لِأنِّي سَأغفِرُ لِلبَقِيَّةِ الَّتِي نَجَّيتُهَا.»
21 يَقُولُ اللهُ:
«حَارِبُوا أرْضَ مِرَاثَايِمَ،
وَحارِبُوا سُكَّانَ فَقُودَ.
اقتُلُوهُمْ بِالسَّيْفِ،
وَاقْضُوا عَلَيْهِمْ تَمَامًا.
اعْمَلُوا مَا أمَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ.»
22 «هُنَاكَ صَوْتُ حَرْبٍ وَدَمَارٍ عَظِيمٍ فِي الأرْضِ.
23 كَيْفَ انكَسَرَتْ مِطرَقَةُ كُلِّ الأرْضِ وَتحَطَّمَتْ!
كَيْفَ صَارَتْ بَابِلُ خَرِبَةً بَيْنَ الأُمَمِ!
24 وَضَعْتُ فَخًّا لَكِ،
وَقَدْ أُمسِكْتِ يَا بَابِلُ،
وَلَمْ تَعْرِفِي ذَلِكَ.
وَقَدْ وُجِدْتِ وَأُمسِكْتِ،
لِأنَّكِ حَارَبْتِ اللهَ.
25 فَتَحَ اللهُ مَخزَنَ أسلِحَتِهِ،
وَسَيُرسِلُ آلَاتِ غَضَبِهِ.
لِأنَّ هَذَا مَا يَصْنَعُهُ الرَّبُّ الإلَهُ القَدِيرُ
فِي أرْضِ البَابِلِيِّينَ.
26 «تَعَالَوْا إلَيْهَا مِنْ أقَاصِي الأرْضِ،
افتَحُوا مَخَازِنَ قَمْحِهَا.
اجعَلُوهَا أكْوَامًا،
وَأفنُوهَا بِالكَامِلِ،
وَلَا تَتْرُكُوا لَهَا بَقِيَّةً.
27 اقتُلُوا كُلَّ ثِيرَانِهَا بِالسَّيْفِ،
قُودُوهُمْ لِلذَّبحِ.
وَيْلٌ لَهُمْ،
لِأنَّ يَوْمَ عِقَابِهِمْ قَدْ جَاءَ.
28 هُنَاكَ صَوْتُ نَاجِينَ وَفَارِّينَ مِنْ بَابِلَ،
سَيُعلِنُونَ فِي صِهْيَوْنَ نَقمَةَ إلَهِنَا
بِسَبَبِ مَا حَدَثَ لِهَيْكَلِهِ.
29 «ادعُوا الضَّارِبِينَ بِالسِّهَامِ إلَى بَابِلَ،
ادعُوا كُلَّ الَّذِينَ يَشُدُّونَ القَوسَ.
خَيِّمُوا حَوْلَهَا،
وَلَا تَسْمَحُوا بِأنْ يَكُونَ هُنَاكَ نَاجٍ وَاحِدٌ.
كَافِئُوهَا عَلَى أعْمَالِهَا بِمَا تَسْتَحِقُّ.
اصنَعُوا بِهَا كَمَا صَنَعَتْ بِالآخَرِينَ.
لِأنَّهَا تَعَجرَفَتْ عَلَى اللهِ،
عَلَى قُدُّوسِ إسْرَائِيلَ.
30 لِذَلِكَ سَيَسْقُطُ كُلُّ أبْطَالِهَا فِي سَاحَاتِهَا،
وَكُلُّ رِجَالِهَا المُحَارِبِينَ سَيَصْمُتُونَ فِي ذَلِكَ اليَوْمِ.»
يَقُولُ اللهُ.
31 يَقُولُ الإلَهُ القَدِيرُ:
«سَأُقَاوِمُكِ أيَّتُهَا المُتَعَجرِفَةُ.
لِأنَّ يَوْمَكِ قَدْ جَاءَ،
وَقْتَكِ الَّذِي فِيهِ سَأُعَاقِبُكِ.
32 سَيَتَرَنَّحُ المُتَعَجرِفُ وَيَسْقُطُ،
وَلَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ مَكَانٌ لِيَعِيشَ فِيهِ.
سَأُشعِلُ نَارًا فِي مُدُنِهِ،
فَتَأْكُلُ كُلَّ مَا حَوْلَهَا.»
33 هَذَا هُوَ مَا يَقُولُهُ اللهُ القَدِيرُ:
«كِلَا شَعْبَيَّ إسْرَائِيلَ وَيَهُوذَا مَظلُومَانِ،
فَكُلُّ الَّذِينَ سَبُوهُمْ أمسَكُوهُمْ،
وَهُمْ يَرْفُضُونَ أنْ يُطلِقُوهُمْ.
34 وَلَكِنَّ فَادِيَهُمْ قَوِيٌّ،
اسْمُهُ يهوه[a] القَدِيرُ.
وَهُوَ مَنْ سَيُدَافِعُ عَنْ قَضِيَّتِهِمْ،
لِذَلِكَ سَتَسْتَرِيحُ أرْضُهُمْ،
وَلَكِنَّهُ سَيُزعِجُ سُكَّانَ بَابِلَ.
35 هَا سَيفٌ مَرْفُوعٌ عَلَى البَابِلِيِّينَ، يَقُولُ اللهُ.
عَلَى جَمِيعِ سُكَّانِ بَابِلَ،
وَعَلَى رُؤَسَائِهَا وَحُكَمَائِهَا.
36 هَا سَيفٌ مَرْفُوعٌ عَلَى العَرَّافِينَ،
لِكَي تَظْهَرَ حَمَاقَتُهُمْ.
هَا سَيفٌ مَرْفُوعٌ عَلَى جَبَابِرَتِهَا،
وَسَيَرْتَعِبُونَ.
37 هَا سَيفٌ مَرْفُوعٌ عَلَى خَيلِهَا وَمَرْكَبَاتِهَا
وَالجُيُوشِ الغَرِيبَةِ الَّتِي فِيهَا،
وَسَيَصِيرُونَ مِثْلَ النِّسَاءِ.
هَا سَيفٌ مَرْفُوعٌ عَلَى مَخَازِنِهَا،
وَسَتُنهَبُ.
38 هُنَاكَ جَفَافٌ فِي مِيَاهِهَا.
لِأنَّهَا أرْضُ أوْثَانٍ.
أوْثَانُهُمْ تُفقِدُهُمْ صَوَابَهُمْ.
39 لِذَلِكَ، سَيَسْكُنُ فِيهَا وُحُوشُ الصَّحرَاءِ
وَبَنَاتُ آوَى وَالنَّعَامُ.
لَنْ تُسكَنَ فِيمَا بَعْدُ،
وَلَنْ يَعِيشُوا فِيهَا فِي الأجيَالِ القَادِمَةِ.
40 وَكَمَا قَلَبَ اللهُ سَدُومَ وَعَمُورَةَ
وَالقُرَى المُجَاوِرَةِ،»
«فَلَنْ يَسْكُنَ أحَدٌ فِي بَابِلَ،
وَلَنْ يُسَافِرَ عَبْرَهَا إنْسَانٌ.»
يَقُولُ اللهُ.
41 «هَا شَعْبٌ قَادِمٌ مِنَ الشِّمَالِ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ عَظِيمَةٍ.
مُلُوكٌ كَثِيرُونَ اسْتَيْقَظُوا مِنْ أقَاصِي الأرْضِ.
42 يُمْسِكُونَ القَوسَ وَالرُّمحَ.
إنَّهُمْ قُسَاةٌ بِلَا رَحمَةٍ.
صَوْتُهُمْ كَأمْوَاجِ البَحْرِ حِينَ يَرْكَبُونَ خُيُولَهُمْ.
يَصْطَفُّونَ عَلَيْكِ كَرِجَالٍ لِلحَرْبِ،
أيَّتُهَا الِابْنَةُ بَابِلُ.
43 سَمِعَ مَلِكُ بَابِلَ نَبَأ اقتِرَابِهِمْ
فَارتَخَتْ يَدَاهُ.
أمسَكَ بِهِ الضِّيقُ وَالألَمُ كَألَمِ مَنْ تَلِدُ.
44 «مِثْلَ أسَدٍ يَصْعَدُ مِنْ غَابَاتِ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ
إلَى مَرعَىً دَائِمٍ لِيُطَارِدَ الخِرَافَ،
هَكَذَا سَأُرْعِبُهُمْ،
وَسَأجعَلُهُمْ يَهْرُبُونَ مِنْ بَابِلَ.
وَسَأُعَيِّنُ عَلَيْهِمْ مَنْ أختَارُ.
لِأنَّهُ مَنْ مِثْلِي؟
وَمَنْ يَسْتَطِيعُ أنْ يُعَلِّمَنِي شَيْئًا؟
وَأيُّ رَاعٍ يَسْتَطِيعُ الوُقُوفَ أمَامِي؟»
45 فَاسْمَعُوا قَضَاءَ اللهِ عَلَى بَابِلَ،
وَالأحكَامَ الَّتِي قَرَّرَهَا ضِدَّ أرْضِ البَابِلِيِّينَ.
«سَيُسْحَبُ الصِّغَارُ كَالغَنَمِ،
وَلَنْ يَبْقَى أحَدٌ فِي المَرَاعِي بِسَبِبِ ذَلِكَ.
46 عِنْدَمَا يُخبِرُونَ بِأنَّ بَابِلَ أُمسِكَتْ،
سَتَرْتَجِفُ الأرْضُ،
وَسَتُسمَعُ صَرخَةُ ألَمٍ وَسَطَ كُلِّ الأُمَمِ.»

A Message About Babylon(A)
50 This is the word the Lord spoke through Jeremiah the prophet concerning Babylon(B) and the land of the Babylonians[a]:
2 “Announce and proclaim(C) among the nations,
lift up a banner(D) and proclaim it;
keep nothing back, but say,
‘Babylon will be captured;(E)
Bel(F) will be put to shame,(G)
Marduk(H) filled with terror.
Her images will be put to shame
and her idols(I) filled with terror.’
3 A nation from the north(J) will attack her
and lay waste her land.
No one will live(K) in it;
both people and animals(L) will flee away.
4 “In those days, at that time,”
declares the Lord,
“the people of Israel and the people of Judah together(M)
will go in tears(N) to seek(O) the Lord their God.
5 They will ask the way(P) to Zion
and turn their faces toward it.
They will come(Q) and bind themselves to the Lord
in an everlasting covenant(R)
that will not be forgotten.
6 “My people have been lost sheep;(S)
their shepherds(T) have led them astray(U)
and caused them to roam on the mountains.
They wandered over mountain and hill(V)
and forgot their own resting place.(W)
7 Whoever found them devoured(X) them;
their enemies said, ‘We are not guilty,(Y)
for they sinned against the Lord, their verdant pasture,
the Lord, the hope(Z) of their ancestors.’
8 “Flee(AA) out of Babylon;(AB)
leave the land of the Babylonians,
and be like the goats that lead the flock.
9 For I will stir(AC) up and bring against Babylon
an alliance of great nations(AD) from the land of the north.(AE)
They will take up their positions against her,
and from the north she will be captured.(AF)
Their arrows(AG) will be like skilled warriors
who do not return empty-handed.
10 So Babylonia[b] will be plundered;(AH)
all who plunder her will have their fill,”
declares the Lord.
11 “Because you rejoice and are glad,
you who pillage my inheritance,(AI)
because you frolic like a heifer(AJ) threshing grain
and neigh like stallions,
12 your mother will be greatly ashamed;
she who gave you birth will be disgraced.(AK)
She will be the least of the nations—
a wilderness, a dry land, a desert.(AL)
13 Because of the Lord’s anger she will not be inhabited
but will be completely desolate.(AM)
All who pass Babylon will be appalled;(AN)
they will scoff(AO) because of all her wounds.(AP)
14 “Take up your positions around Babylon,
all you who draw the bow.(AQ)
Shoot at her! Spare no arrows,(AR)
for she has sinned against the Lord.
15 Shout(AS) against her on every side!
She surrenders, her towers fall,
her walls(AT) are torn down.
Since this is the vengeance(AU) of the Lord,
take vengeance on her;
do to her(AV) as she has done to others.(AW)
16 Cut off from Babylon the sower,
and the reaper with his sickle at harvest.
Because of the sword(AX) of the oppressor
let everyone return to their own people,(AY)
let everyone flee to their own land.(AZ)
17 “Israel is a scattered flock(BA)
that lions(BB) have chased away.
The first to devour(BC) them
was the king(BD) of Assyria;
the last to crush their bones(BE)
was Nebuchadnezzar(BF) king(BG) of Babylon.”
18 Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:
“I will punish the king of Babylon and his land
as I punished the king(BH) of Assyria.(BI)
19 But I will bring(BJ) Israel back to their own pasture,
and they will graze on Carmel and Bashan;
their appetite will be satisfied(BK)
on the hills(BL) of Ephraim and Gilead.(BM)
20 In those days, at that time,”
declares the Lord,
“search will be made for Israel’s guilt,
but there will be none,(BN)
and for the sins(BO) of Judah,
but none will be found,
for I will forgive(BP) the remnant(BQ) I spare.
21 “Attack the land of Merathaim
and those who live in Pekod.(BR)
Pursue, kill and completely destroy[c] them,”
declares the Lord.
“Do everything I have commanded you.
22 The noise(BS) of battle is in the land,
the noise of great destruction!
23 How broken and shattered
is the hammer(BT) of the whole earth!(BU)
How desolate(BV) is Babylon
among the nations!
24 I set a trap(BW) for you, Babylon,
and you were caught before you knew it;
you were found and captured(BX)
because you opposed(BY) the Lord.
25 The Lord has opened his arsenal
and brought out the weapons(BZ) of his wrath,
for the Sovereign Lord Almighty has work to do
in the land of the Babylonians.(CA)
26 Come against her from afar.(CB)
Break open her granaries;
pile her up like heaps of grain.(CC)
Completely destroy(CD) her
and leave her no remnant.
27 Kill all her young bulls;(CE)
let them go down to the slaughter!(CF)
Woe to them! For their day(CG) has come,
the time(CH) for them to be punished.
28 Listen to the fugitives(CI) and refugees from Babylon
declaring in Zion(CJ)
how the Lord our God has taken vengeance,(CK)
vengeance for his temple.(CL)
29 “Summon archers against Babylon,
all those who draw the bow.(CM)
Encamp all around her;
let no one escape.(CN)
Repay(CO) her for her deeds;(CP)
do to her as she has done.
For she has defied(CQ) the Lord,
the Holy One(CR) of Israel.
30 Therefore, her young men(CS) will fall in the streets;
all her soldiers will be silenced in that day,”
declares the Lord.
31 “See, I am against(CT) you, you arrogant one,”
declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty,
“for your day(CU) has come,
the time for you to be punished.
32 The arrogant(CV) one will stumble and fall(CW)
and no one will help her up;(CX)
I will kindle a fire(CY) in her towns
that will consume all who are around her.”
33 This is what the Lord Almighty says:
“The people of Israel are oppressed,(CZ)
and the people of Judah as well.
All their captors hold them fast,
refusing to let them go.(DA)
34 Yet their Redeemer(DB) is strong;
the Lord Almighty(DC) is his name.
He will vigorously defend their cause(DD)
so that he may bring rest(DE) to their land,
but unrest to those who live in Babylon.
35 “A sword(DF) against the Babylonians!”(DG)
declares the Lord—
“against those who live in Babylon
and against her officials and wise(DH) men!
36 A sword against her false prophets!
They will become fools.
A sword against her warriors!(DI)
They will be filled with terror.(DJ)
37 A sword against her horses and chariots(DK)
and all the foreigners in her ranks!
They will become weaklings.(DL)
A sword against her treasures!(DM)
They will be plundered.
38 A drought on[d] her waters!(DN)
They will dry(DO) up.
For it is a land of idols,(DP)
idols that will go mad with terror.
39 “So desert creatures(DQ) and hyenas will live there,
and there the owl will dwell.
It will never again be inhabited
or lived in from generation to generation.(DR)
40 As I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah(DS)
along with their neighboring towns,”
declares the Lord,
“so no one will live there;
no people will dwell in it.(DT)
41 “Look! An army is coming from the north;(DU)
a great nation and many kings
are being stirred(DV) up from the ends of the earth.(DW)
42 They are armed with bows(DX) and spears;
they are cruel(DY) and without mercy.(DZ)
They sound like the roaring sea(EA)
as they ride on their horses;
they come like men in battle formation
to attack you, Daughter Babylon.(EB)
43 The king of Babylon has heard reports about them,
and his hands hang limp.(EC)
Anguish has gripped him,
pain like that of a woman in labor.(ED)
44 Like a lion coming up from Jordan’s thickets(EE)
to a rich pastureland,
I will chase Babylon from its land in an instant.
Who is the chosen(EF) one I will appoint for this?
Who is like me and who can challenge me?(EG)
And what shepherd can stand against me?”
45 Therefore, hear what the Lord has planned against Babylon,
what he has purposed(EH) against the land of the Babylonians:(EI)
The young of the flock will be dragged away;
their pasture will be appalled at their fate.
46 At the sound of Babylon’s capture the earth will tremble;(EJ)
its cry(EK) will resound among the nations.
