천사와 작은 두루마리
10 그때에 나는 또 다른 권능 있는 천사가 하늘에서 내려오는 것을 보았습니다. 그 천사는 구름옷을 입고 있었고, 머리에는 무지개가 둘려 있었습니다. 그의 얼굴은 해와 같았으며 다리는 불기둥 같았습니다. 2 그는 작은 두루마리를 들고 있었는데, 그 두루마리는 열린 채로 그의 손에 들려 있었습니다. 그는 오른발로는 바다를, 왼발로는 땅을 딛고 서 있었습니다. 3 그가 사자의 울부짖음 같은 소리로 크게 부르짖었습니다. 그가 부르짖자 일곱 천둥의 목소리가 말하였습니다. 4 일곱 천둥이 말할 때에, 내가 받아 적으려고 하였습니다. 그러나 하늘에서 어떤 목소리가 “일곱 천둥이 말하는 것을 비밀로 하여 두어라. 그것들을 적지 말아라.” 라고 말하는 소리가 들렸습니다.
5 그러고 나서 내가 본 천사, 곧 바다와 땅을 딛고 서 있는 천사가 하늘을 향해 오른손을 들었습니다. 6 천사는 하늘과 하늘에 있는 모든 것, 땅과 땅에 있는 모든 것, 바다와 바다에 있는 모든 것을 창조하시고, 영원무궁토록 살아 계시는 그분의 권능을 힘입어 이렇게 맹세하였습니다. “더는 늦어지는 일이 없을 것이다. 7 일곱째 천사가 나팔을 부는 날에는, 하나님께서 당신의 종 예언자들에게 선포하신 대로, 하나님의 감추어진 계획이 이루어질 것이다.”
8 그때에 내가 하늘에서 들려오는 것을 들었던 그 목소리가 다시 내게 말하였습니다. “너는 가서, 바다와 땅을 딛고 서 있는 천사의 손에 열린 채 들려 있는 두루마리를 받아라.”
9 그래서 나는 그 천사에게 가서 작은 두루마리를 내게 달라고 하였습니다. 천사가 내게 말하였습니다. “이것을 받아서 먹어라. 그것이 네 입에서는 꿀처럼 달 것이다. 그러나 네 뱃속을 쓰리게 할 것이다.” 10 나는 천사의 손에서 작은 두루마리를 받아서 먹었습니다. 두루마리는 입에서는 꿀처럼 달았습니다. 그러나 그것을 먹고 나니 뱃속이 쓰렸습니다. 11 그때에 내가 “너는 여러 백성과 민족과 언어와 왕에 관하여 다시 예언하여야 한다.” 라는 말을 들었습니다.

10 나는 또 힘 센 다른 천사가 구름에 싸여 하늘에서 내려오는 것을 보았습 니다. 그의 머리 위에는 무지개가 있고 그의 얼굴은 해와 같았으며 발은 불기둥과 같았습니다.
2 그 천사는 작은 책을 펴 들고 오른발로 바다를 밟고 왼발로는 땅을 밟고 있었습니다.
3 그가 사자처럼 큰 소리로 부르짖자 일곱 천둥이 각각 제 소리로 말하였습니다.
4 일곱 천둥이 말할 때 내가 그것을 기록하려고 했으나 하늘에서 “일곱 천둥이 말한 것은 인봉하고 기록하지 말아라” 하는 음성이 들려왔습니다.
5 내가 본 그 천사는 바다와 육지를 밟고 서서 오른손을 하늘로 쳐들고
6 하늘과 땅과 바다와 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 창조하시고 영원히 살아 계신 하나님의 이름으로 맹세하며 이렇게 말했습니다. “더 이상 지체하지 않을 것이다.
7 일곱째 천사가 나팔을 불려고 할 때 하나님의 비밀이 그분의 종들인 예언자들에게 전해진 그대로 이루어질 것이다.”
8 하늘에서 들리던 그 음성이 나에게 다시 말했습니다. “너는 가서 바다와 땅을 밟고 섰는 천사의 손에 펴 놓인 책을 가져라.”
9 그래서 내가 천사에게 가서 조그마한 그 책을 달라고 했더니 그는 “가져다가 먹어라. 배에 들어가면 쓰겠지만 입 안에서는 꿀처럼 달 것이다” 하고 말했습니다.
10 내가 천사의 손에서 조그마한 그 책을 가져다가 먹어 보니 입 안에서는 꿀처럼 달았으나 먹은 후 뱃속에서는 썼습니다.
11 그때 “너는 많은 민족과 나라와 언어와 왕들에 대하여 다시 예언해야 한다” 는 음성이 들렸습니다.

10 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

John Eats a Small Scroll
10 I saw another powerful angel come down from heaven. He was dressed in a cloud, and there was a rainbow over his head. His face was like the sun, and his feet were like columns of fire. 2 He held a small, opened scroll in his hand. He set his right foot on the sea and his left on the land. 3 Then he shouted in a loud voice as a lion roars. When he shouted, the seven thunders spoke with voices of their own. 4 When the seven thunders spoke, I was going to write it down. I heard a voice from heaven say, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said, and don’t write it down.”
5 The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6 He swore an oath by the one who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and everything in it, the earth and everything in it, and the sea and everything in it. He said, “There will be no more delay. 7 In the days when the seventh angel is ready to blow his trumpet, the mystery of God will be completed, as he had made this Good News known to his servants, the prophets.” 8 The voice which I had heard from heaven spoke to me again. It said, “Take the opened scroll from the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.” 9 I went to the angel and asked him to give me the small scroll. He said to me, “Take it and eat it. It will be bitter in your stomach, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”
10 I took the small scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It was as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, it was bitter in my stomach. 11 The seven thunders told me, “Again you must speak what God has revealed in front of many people, nations, languages, and kings.”
