삭개오
19 예수께서 여리고로 들어가서 그곳을 지나가고 계셨다. 2 여리고에는 삭개오라는 사람이 있었다. 그는 세무서장[a]이었고 부자였다. 3 삭개오는 예수가 어떤 분인지 보고 싶었다. 그러나 사람들이 너무 많아 키가 작은 삭개오는 예수를 볼 수 없었다. 4 그래서 그는 예수를 보려고 그분이 지나가시는 길을 앞질러 달려가서 돌무화과나무 위로 올라갔다. 5 예수께서는 그곳에 이르러서 위를 올려다보시며 삭개오에게 말씀하셨다. “삭개오야, 어서 내려오너라! 오늘 내가 네 집에 머물러야겠다.”
6 그러자 삭개오가 얼른 내려와서 기쁘게 예수를 모셔 들였다. 7 이 일을 본 모든 사람이 투덜거리기 시작하였다. “예수께서 저런 죄인의 손님으로 그 집에 들어가시다니!”
8 삭개오가 일어서서 주님께 말하였다. “제 재산의 반을 가난한 사람들에게 나누어 주겠습니다. 그리고 제가 다른 사람을 속여 빼앗은 것이 있으면 그 사람에게 네 배로 갚겠습니다!”
9 예수께서 말씀하셨다. “오늘 구원이 이 집에 이르렀다. 이 사람도 아브라함의 자손이기 때문이다. 10 사람의 아들은 잃어버린 사람들을 찾아 구원하려고 왔다.”
하나님께서 주신 것을 써라
(마 25:14-30)
11 그들이 이 말씀을 듣고 있을 때에, 예수께서 덧붙여 비유 하나를 들려주셨다. 그것은 예수께서 예루살렘에 가까이 이르신데다가, 사람들이 하나님의 나라가 당장에 나타날 줄로 생각하고 있었기 때문이었다. 12 예수께서 말씀하셨다. “귀족 집안에서 태어난 어떤 사람이 있었다. 그는 먼 나라에 가서 임금으로 임명을 받고 돌아올 생각이었다. 그래서 그는 떠날 준비를 하였다. 13 그는 종 열 사람을 불렀다. 그리고 각 사람에게 돈을 한 므나[b]씩 주며, ‘내가 돌아올 때까지 이 돈으로 장사를 하여라.’ 라고 일렀다.
14 그런데 그의 백성은 그 사람을 미워하였다. 그래서 그 사람 뒤로 사절단을 보내어 왕위를 줄 사람에게 말하게 하였다. ‘우리는 이 사람이 우리의 임금이 되는 것을 바라지 않습니다!’
15 그러나 그 귀족은 임금이 되어 돌아왔다. 그리고 자기가 돈을 주고 간 종들을 불렀다. 그들이 그 돈으로 얼마씩 벌었는지 알아보려는 것이었다.
16 첫째 종이 와서 말하였다. ‘주인님, 저는 주인님께서 주신 돈 한 므나로 열 므나를 벌었습니다!’
17 ‘잘하였다! 너는 착한 종이다.’ 그의 주인이 말하였다. ‘네가 작은 일에 충실하였으니, 이제 열 고을을 맡아 다스리도록 하여라.’
18 둘째 종이 말하였다. ‘주인님, 저는 주인님이 주신 돈 한 므나로 다섯 므나를 벌었습니다!’
19 그의 주인이 말하였다. ‘너는 다섯 고을을 맡아 다스려라!’
20 그리고 다른 종이 들어왔다. 그 종은 임금에게 이렇게 말하였다. ‘주인님, 여기 주인님이 주신 돈 한 므나가 있습니다. 저는 이것을 헝겊으로 싸서 잘 숨겨 두었습니다. 21 저는 주인님이 엄하신 분이라 무서웠습니다. 주인님은 맡기지 않은 것을 찾아가고 심지 않은 것을 거두는 분이십니다.’
22 그의 주인이 대답하였다. ‘너는 악한 종이다! 네가 한 그 말로 너를 심판하겠다! 너는 내가 엄한 사람이어서, 맡기지 않은 것을 찾아가고 심지 않은 것을 거두는 줄 알고 있었다. 23 그렇다면 어찌하여 너는 내 돈을 은행에 맡겨 두지 않았느냐? 그랬더라면, 내가 돌아왔을 때 내 돈을 이자와 함께 찾을 수 있었을 것이다.’
24 그리고 임금은 옆에 있던 사람들에게 말하였다. ‘이 종에게서 한 므나를 빼앗아서 열 므나를 번 종에게 주어라.’
25 사람들이 주인에게 말하였다. ‘그러나 주인님, 그 종은 벌써 열 므나나 가지고 있습니다.’
26 주인이 말하였다. ‘내가 너희에게 말한다. 가진 사람은 더 받게 될 것이다. 그러나 가지지 못한 사람은 가진 것마저 빼앗길 것이다. 27 내가 임금이 되는 것을 바라지 않던 내 원수들은 어디에 있느냐? 그들을 이리로 끌어다가 내 앞에서 죽여라.’”
예루살렘에 들어가시다
(마 21:1-11; 막 11:1-11; 요 12:12-19)
28 예수께서 이 말씀을 하시고 예루살렘을 향해 앞서 올라가셨다. 29 올리브 산[c]이라 불리는 산턱에 있는 벳바게와 베다니 가까이에 이르시자, 예수께서 제자 두 사람을 보내시며 말씀하셨다. 30 “저기 보이는 마을로 들어가거라. 거기에 아무도 탄 적이 없는 어린 나귀 한 마리가 매여 있는 것을 볼 것이다. 그것을 풀어서 내게로 끌어오너라. 31 만일 누가 ‘무슨 일로 나귀를 풉니까?’ 하고 묻거든, ‘주님께 이 나귀가 필요합니다.’ 라고 하여라.”
32 보내심을 받은 사람들이 가서 보니 예수께서 말씀하신 그대로였다. 33 그들이 나귀를 풀고 있을 때 나귀 주인들이 물었다. “어찌하여 나귀를 푸는 거요?”
34 그들이 대답하였다. “주님께 이 나귀가 필요합니다.” 35 그들은 나귀를 예수께 끌고 와서, 자기들의 겉옷을 나귀 등에 깔고 예수를 그 위에 앉으시게 하였다. 36 예수께서 나귀를 타고 예루살렘으로 가실 때에, 사람들이 자기들의 겉옷을 길에 깔았다.
37 예수께서 어느덧 올리브 산의 내리막길 가까이에 이르셨을 때에, 온 제자의 무리가 기쁨에 들떠 있었다. 그들은 자기들이 본 모든 기적 때문에 큰 소리로 하나님을 찬양하였다.
38 “복되시다, 주의 이름으로 오시는 임금님!(A)
하늘에는 평화,
하늘에 계시는 하나님께는 영광!”
39 무리 가운데 있던 바리새파 사람 몇이 예수께 말하였다. “선생님, 선생님의 제자들이 저런 말을 하지 못하게 꾸짖으십시오!”
40 예수께서 대답하셨다. “내가 분명히 너희에게 말한다. 이 사람들이 입을 다물고 있으면 돌들이 소리칠 것이다.”
예루살렘을 위해 우시다
41 예수께서 예루살렘 가까이에 이르시자, 그 도성을 보고 눈물을 흘리시며 42 말씀하셨다. “오늘 네가, 정말로 네가, 무엇이 네게 평화를 가져다줄지를 안다면 얼마나 좋을까! 그러나 지금 그 길이 네 눈에는 감추어져 있구나. 43 네 원수들이 네 둘레에 흙 언덕을 쌓고, 너를 에워싸고 사방에서 너를 조여 들어올 날이 닥칠 것이다. 44 네 원수들이 너와 네 성벽 안에 있는 네 자녀들을 땅에 내동댕이칠 것이다. 네 성벽 안에 있는 건물 가운데 단 하나의 돌도 다른 돌 위에 얹혀 있지 못할 것이다. 이 모든 일이 일어나는 것은, 하나님께서 너를 구하러 오셨을 때 네가 그때를 알지 못하였기 때문이다.”
성전에 가신 예수
(마 21:12-17; 막 11:15-19; 요 2:13-22)
45 예수께서 성전 구역으로 들어가셔서 물건 파는 사람들을 내쫓기 시작하셨다. 46 예수께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “성경에 이렇게 쓰여 있다. ‘내 집은 기도하는 집이 될 것이다.’(B) 그러나 너희는 그것을 ‘강도의 소굴’ 로 만들었다.”(C)
47 예수께서는 날마다 성전에서 사람들을 가르치셨다. 높은 제사장들과 율법 선생들과 백성의 지도자들은 예수를 죽일 길을 찾고 있었다. 48 그러나 사람들이 그분의 말씀을 열심히 듣고 있어서 그들은 어찌할 도리가 없었다.

Jesus Visits Zacchaeus
19 He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 There was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he was not able because of the crowd, since he was a short man. 4 So running ahead, he climbed up a sycamore tree to see Jesus, since he was about to pass that way. 5 When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down because today it is necessary for me to stay at your house.”
6 So he quickly came down and welcomed him joyfully. 7 All who saw it began to complain,(A) “He’s gone to stay with a sinful man.”
8 But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor,(B) Lord. And if I have extorted(C) anything from anyone, I’ll pay back four times as much.”(D)
9 “Today salvation(E) has come to this house,” Jesus told him, “because he too is a son of Abraham.(F) 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.”(G)
The Parable of the Ten Minas
11 As(H) they were listening to this, he went on to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem,(I) and they thought the kingdom of God was going to appear right away.(J)
12 Therefore he said, “A nobleman traveled to a far country to receive for himself authority to be king[a] and then to return. 13 He called ten of his servants, gave them ten minas,[b] and told them, ‘Engage in business until I come back.’
14 “But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to rule over us.’
15 “At his return, having received the authority to be king, he summoned those servants he had given the money to, so that he could find out how much they had made in business. 16 The first came forward and said, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten more minas.’
17 “‘Well done, good[c] servant!’ he told him. ‘Because you have been faithful(K) in a very small matter, have authority over ten towns.’
18 “The second came and said, ‘Master, your mina has made five minas.’
19 “So he said to him, ‘You will be over five towns.’
20 “And another came and said, ‘Master, here is your mina. I have kept it safe in a cloth 21 because I was afraid of you since you’re a harsh man: you collect what you didn’t deposit and reap what you didn’t sow.’(L)
22 “He told him, ‘I will condemn you by what you have said, you evil servant! If you knew I was a harsh man, collecting what I didn’t deposit and reaping what I didn’t sow, 23 why, then, didn’t you put my money in the bank? And when I returned, I would have collected it with interest.’ 24 So he said to those standing there, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’
25 “But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’
26 “‘I tell you, that to everyone who has, more will be given; and from the one who does not have, even what he does have will be taken away.(M) 27 But bring here these enemies of mine,(N) who did not want me to rule over them, and slaughter[d] them in my presence.’”
The Triumphal Entry
28 When(O) he had said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.(P) 29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany, at the place called the Mount of Olives,(Q) he sent two of the disciples 30 and said, “Go into the village ahead of you. As you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say this: ‘The Lord needs it.’”
32 So those who were sent left and found it just as he had told them.(R) 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 “The Lord needs it,” they said. 35 Then(S) they brought it to Jesus, and after throwing their clothes on the colt, they helped Jesus get on it.(T) 36 As he was going along, they were spreading their clothes on the road.(U) 37 Now he came near the path down the Mount of Olives, and the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen:
38 Blessed is the King(V) who comes
in the name of the Lord.[e](W)
Peace in heaven
and glory(X) in the highest heaven!(Y)
39 Some of the Pharisees from the crowd told him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”
40 He answered, “I tell you, if they were to keep silent, the stones would cry out.”(Z)
Jesus’s Love for Jerusalem
41 As he approached and saw the city, he wept(AA) for it, 42 saying, “If you knew(AB) this day what would bring peace—but now it is hidden(AC) from your eyes. 43 For the days will come on you(AD) when your enemies will build a barricade around you, surround you, and hem you in on every side.(AE) 44 They will crush you and your children among you to the ground,(AF) and they will not leave one stone on another(AG) in your midst, because you did not recognize the time when God visited you.”(AH)
Cleansing the Temple
45 He(AI) went into the temple and began to throw out those who were selling,[f] 46 and he said, “It is written, my house will be a house of prayer,(AJ) but you have made it a den of thieves!”[g](AK)
47 Every day he was teaching(AL) in the temple. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people were looking for a way to kill(AM) him, 48 but they could not find a way to do it, because all the people(AN) were captivated by what they heard.

Zacchaeus the Tax Collector
19 Jesus entered Jericho(A) and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig(B) tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.(C)
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”(D)
8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord,(E) “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything,(F) I will pay back four times the amount.”(G)
9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.(H) 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”(I)
The Parable of the Ten Minas(J)
11 While they were listening to this, he went on to tell them a parable, because he was near Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God(K) was going to appear at once.(L) 12 He said: “A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants(M) and gave them ten minas.[a] ‘Put this money to work,’ he said, ‘until I come back.’
14 “But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’
15 “He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.
16 “The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned ten more.’
17 “‘Well done, my good servant!’(N) his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’(O)
18 “The second came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned five more.’
19 “His master answered, ‘You take charge of five cities.’
20 “Then another servant came and said, ‘Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth. 21 I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.’(P)
22 “His master replied, ‘I will judge you by your own words,(Q) you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?(R) 23 Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?’
24 “Then he said to those standing by, ‘Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’
25 “‘Sir,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’
26 “He replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away.(S) 27 But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.’”
Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King(T)(U)
28 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.(V) 29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany(W) at the hill called the Mount of Olives,(X) he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”
32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them.(Y) 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.”
35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks(Z) on the road.
37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives,(AA) the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”(AC)
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”(AD)
40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”(AE)
41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it(AF) 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.(AG) 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls.(AH) They will not leave one stone on another,(AI) because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming(AJ) to you.”
Jesus at the Temple(AK)
45 When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. 46 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be a house of prayer’[c];(AL) but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’[d]”(AM)
47 Every day he was teaching at the temple.(AN) But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him.(AO) 48 Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.
