일흔두 사람을 보내시다
10 그런 일이 있고 나서 주께서 달리 일흔두 사람[a]을 뽑아, 당신이 찾아가시려고 하는 여러 고을과 고장으로 둘씩 짝지어 앞서 보내셨다. 2 예수께서 그 사람들에게 말씀하셨다. “추수할 것은 많은데 그 일을 도울 일꾼은 적다. 추수의 주인이신 하나님께, 당신의 밭에서 일할 일꾼을 더 보내 달라고 기도하여라. 3 자, 가거라. 이리 떼 속으로 양들을 보내는 것 같은 마음으로 내가 너희를 보낸다. 4 돈주머니나 식량 자루나 신발을 가져가지 말아라. 가는 길에 사람들과 이야기를 나누려고 멈추지도 말아라. 5 어떤 집에 들어갈 때에는, 먼저 ‘이 집에 평화가 있기를 빕니다.’ 하고 인사하여라. 6 그 집에 평화를 사랑하는 사람이 살면, 너희가 비는 평화가 그 사람에게 머물 것이다. 그러나 그 사람이 평화를 사랑하지 않으면 그 평화가 너희에게 되돌아올 것이다. 7 너희는 이 집 저 집으로 옮겨 다니지 말고 같은 집에 머물면서, 주인이 주는 것을 먹고 마셔라. 일꾼이 자기 삯을 받는 것은 마땅하다. 8 너희가 어떤 고을에 들어갈 때에 사람들이 반갑게 맞이하거든 그들이 주는 음식을 먹어라. 9 그리고 그곳에 있는 병자들을 고쳐 주고, ‘하나님 나라가 너희 가까이에 와 있다.’ 고 알려 주어라. 10 그러나 사람들이 반갑게 맞이하지 않거든 거리로 나가서 이렇게 말하여라. 11 ‘너희에게 항의하는 뜻으로 우리의 발에 묻은 너희 고을의 먼지까지도 떨고 간다. 그러나 하나님 나라가 너희 가까이에 와 있다는 것은 분명히 알아 두어라.’ 12 내가 너희에게 말한다. 심판의 날에, 소돔 사람들보다 이 고을 사람들이 훨씬 더 큰 고통을 당할 것이다.
믿지 않는 사람들에게 경고하시다

13 고라신[b]아, 너희에게 큰 화가 미칠 것이다! 벳새다[c]야, 너희에게 큰 화가 미칠 것이다. 나는 너희 가운데서 많은 기적을 베풀었다. 그 기적들을 두로와 시돈에서 보여 주었더라면, 그곳 사람들은 거친 베옷을 입고 잿더미 가운데 앉아서 벌써 회개하였을 것이다. 14 심판 날에 너희는 두로와 시돈보다 더 큰 벌을 받을 것이다. 15 가버나움[d]아, 네가 하늘로 들려 올라갈 것 같으냐? 어림없다. 너는 죽은 자들이 가는 저승으로 떨어질 것이다!
16 너희의 말을 듣는 사람은 곧 내 말을 듣는 것이고, 너희를 받아들이지 않는 사람은 곧 나를 받아들이지 않는 것이다. 그리고 나를 받아들이지 않는 사람은 나를 보내신 분을 받아들이지 않는 것이다.”
사탄이 하늘에서 떨어지다
17 일흔두 사람이 기쁨에 넘쳐 돌아와서 이렇게 말하였다. “주님, 우리가 주님의 이름으로 말하자, 귀신[e]들도 우리에게 복종하였습니다!” 18 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “나는 사탄이 하늘에서 번갯불처럼 떨어지는 것을 보았다. 19 잘 들어라. 나는 너희에게 뱀이나 전갈[f]을 발로 밟을 수 있는 능력을 주었다. 또 원수의 모든 힘을 누를 수 있는 능력을 너희에게 주었다. 그러니 이 세상 어느 것도 너희를 해칠 수 없다. 20 그러나 악령들이 너희에게 복종한다고 기뻐할 것이 아니라, 너희의 이름이 하늘에 기록된 것을 기뻐하여라.”
아버지께 기도하시다
(마 11:25-27; 13:16-17)
21 그때에 예수께서, 성령으로 기쁨에 넘쳐서 이렇게 기도하셨다. “하늘과 땅의 주인이신 아버지, 감사합니다! 똑똑하고 영리하다는 사람들에게는 이런 것들을 감추시고 어린아이 같은 사람들에게는 보여 주시니, 아버지를 찬양합니다. 그렇습니다, 아버지! 아버지께서 진정 바라시는 일이 이것이었기 때문에, 이렇게 하신 줄로 압니다.”
22 “내 아버지께서는 내게 모든 것을 맡겨 주셨다. 아버지밖에는 아들이 누구인지 아는 이가 없다. 그리고 아들과, 아들이 아버지를 보여 주기로 한 사람들밖에는 아버지가 누구인지 아는 이가 없다.”
23 예수께서 돌아서서 제자들에게 따로 말씀하셨다. “너희가 지금 보는 것을 보는 눈은 복 받은 눈이다. 24 내가 진정으로 말한다. 많은 예언자와 왕들이 너희가 지금 보는 것을 보고 싶어하였으나 보지 못하였고, 너희가 듣는 것을 듣고 싶어하였으나 듣지 못하였다.”
선한 사마리아 사람 이야기
25 그때 한 율법 선생이 일어서서 예수를 떠보려고 이렇게 말하였다. “선생님, 제가 영원한 생명을 얻으려면 무엇을 해야 하겠습니까?”
26 예수께서 말씀하셨다. “율법에 무엇이라고 쓰여 있으며, 너는 그것을 어떻게 이해하고 있느냐?”
27 그 사람이 대답하였다. “‘네 마음[g]을 다하고, 네 영혼[h]을 다하고, 네 힘[i]을 다하고, 네 뜻을 다하여 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하여라’(A) 그리고 ‘네 이웃을 네 자신처럼 사랑하여라’(B) 고 쓰여 있습니다.”
28 예수께서 말씀하셨다. “옳은 대답이다. 네가 그렇게 하면 영원한 생명을 얻을 것이다.”
29 그 율법 선생은 자기를 옳게 보이고 싶었다. 그래서 예수께 여쭈었다. “그러면 누가 내 이웃입니까?”
30 예수께서는 이 물음에 이렇게 대답하셨다. “어떤 사람이 예루살렘에서 여리고로 가고 있었다. 그런데 강도들이 나타나 그 사람을 덮쳤다. 강도들은 그 사람의 옷을 찢고 때린 다음, 거의 죽게 된 그를 두고 그냥 가 버렸다. 31 그때 어떤 제사장이 거기를 지나게 되었다. 제사장은 그 사람을 보았지만 멀찍이 피해서 가 버렸다. 32 그 다음에 어떤 레위 사람[j]이 다가왔다. 레위 사람도 다친 사람을 보았지만 도와주지 않고 지나쳐 가 버렸다. 33 그때 한 사마리아 사람[k]이 그 길을 내려왔다. 그는 다친 사람이 쓰러져 있는 곳에 다다랐다. 사마리아 사람은 다친 사람을 보고 가엾은 마음이 들어서, 34 그에게 다가가 상처에 올리브기름과 포도주를 발라 주었다. 그리고 상처를 싸맨 다음 자기가 타고 가던 나귀에 다친 사람을 태워 여관으로 데려가 돌봐 주었다. 35 다음 날 사마리아 사람은 데나리온[l] 두 개를 꺼내 여관 주인에게 주며 말하였다. ‘이 사람을 잘 돌봐 주십시오. 돈이 더 들면 돌아오는 길에 갚아 드리겠습니다.’”
36 그러고 나서 예수께서 물으셨다. “너는 이 세 사람 가운데 누가 강도 만난 사람에게 이웃이 되어 주었다고 생각하느냐?”
37 율법 선생이 대답하였다. “그 사람에게 자비를 베푼 사람입니다.”
예수께서 말씀하셨다. “너도 가서 그렇게 하여라.”
마리아와 마르다
38 예수께서 제자들과 여행을 하시다가 어떤 마을에 들어가셨다. 마르다라는 여자가 예수를 자기 집에 반갑게 맞아들였다. 39 마르다에게는 마리아라는 여동생이 있었다. 마리아는 주님의 발치에 앉아 주님의 가르침을 듣고 있었다. 40 그런데 마르다는 준비할 것이 많아 무척 바빴다. 그는 예수께 와서 말씀드렸다. “주님, 제 동생이 제게 일을 떠맡기고 있는 것을 아무렇지 않게 여기십니까? 저를 도와주라고 말씀 좀 해 주십시오.”
41 그러나 주께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “마르다야, 마르다야. 너는 많은 일로 걱정을 하고 속상해하는구나. 42 그러나 필요한 것은 한 가지뿐이다. 마리아는 더 좋은 쪽을 선택하였으니, 결코 그것을 빼앗기지 않을 것이다.”

The Seventy Sent Out
10 After these things the Lord appointed [a]seventy others also, and (A)sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. 2 Then He said to them, (B)“The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore (C)pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3 Go your way; (D)behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. 4 (E)Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and (F)greet no one along the road. 5 (G)But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you. 7 (H)And remain in the same house, (I)eating and drinking such things as they give, for (J)the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. 8 Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. 9 (K)And heal the sick there, and say to them, (L)‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, 11 (M)‘The very dust of your city which clings to [b]us we wipe off against you. Woe to the Impenitent Cities(O)
13 (P)“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! (Q)For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15 (R)And you, Capernaum, [d]who are (S)exalted to heaven, (T)will be brought down to Hades. 16 (U)He who hears you hears Me, (V)he who rejects you rejects Me, and (W)he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.”
The Seventy Return with Joy
17 Then (X)the [e]seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
18 And He said to them, (Y)“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, (Z)I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but [f]rather rejoice because (AA)your names are written in heaven.”
Jesus Rejoices in the Spirit(AB)
21 (AC)In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 22 (AD)All[g] things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and (AE)no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”
23 Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, (AF)“Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; 24 for I tell you (AG)that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.”
The Parable of the Good Samaritan(AH)
25 And behold, a certain [h]lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, (AI)“Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”
27 So he answered and said, (AJ)“ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and (AK)‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”
28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and (AL)you will live.”
29 But he, wanting to (AM)justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among [i]thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, (AN)he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain (AO)Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had (AP)compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, [j]when he departed, he took out two (AQ)denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”

Mary and Martha Worship and Serve
38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named (AS)Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, (AT)who also (AU)sat at [k]Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
41 And [l]Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But (AV)one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.
15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.
16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

Jesus Rejoices in the Father's Will

Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two (BI)denarii[c] and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”
Martha and Mary
38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus[d] entered a village. And a woman named (BJ)Martha (BK)welcomed him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called (BL)Mary, who (BM)sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are (BN)anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary.[e] Mary has chosen (BO)the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
