4 (A)They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear,[a] and lay them on people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger. 5 (B)They do all their deeds (C)to be seen by others. For they make (D)their phylacteries broad and (E)their fringes long, 6 and they (F)love the place of honor at feasts and (G)the best seats in the synagogues 7 and (H)greetings in (I)the marketplaces and being called (J)rabbi[b] by others.

4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.(A)
5 “Everything they do is done for people to see:(B) They make their phylacteries[a](C) wide and the tassels on their garments(D) long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;(E) 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.(F)
