治好被鬼附身的人
5 他們來到湖對岸的格拉森地區。 2 耶穌剛下船，就遇見一個被污鬼附身的人從墳場迎面而來。 3 那人以墳場為家，從來沒有人能把他捆住，就算用鐵鏈也鎖不住他。 4 儘管有人多次用鐵鏈和腳鐐鎖住他，但他掙斷了鐵鏈，砸碎了腳鐐。沒有人能制伏他。 5 他晝夜在墳場和山野間大喊大叫，又用石頭砍自己。
6 他遠遠看見耶穌，就跑過去跪下來拜祂，喊著說： 7 「至高上帝的兒子耶穌啊，我和你有什麼關係？看在上帝的份上，求你不要折磨我！」 8 原來，耶穌已經對他身上的鬼說：「污鬼，從這人身上出來！」
9 耶穌問：「你叫什麼名字？」
他說：「我的名字叫『群』，因為我們是一大群。」
10 接著污鬼再三哀求耶穌，不要把牠們逐出那個地區。 11 當時有一大群豬在附近山坡上覓食。 12 污鬼就哀求耶穌說：「讓我們到豬群裡去，附在牠們身上吧！」
13 耶穌允許了，污鬼就離開那人，進入豬群。那群豬就一路奔下陡坡，衝進湖裡淹死了，約有兩千頭。
14 放豬的人都嚇跑了。他們把這消息傳遍了城裡鄉間，於是人人都跑來看個究竟。 15 他們到了耶穌那裡，看見那一度被群鬼附身的人神智清醒、衣著整齊地坐在那裡，都很害怕。 16 目睹這件事的人向他們講述整個經過。 17 他們請耶穌離開他們的地方。
18 耶穌上了船準備離開的時候，那被鬼附過的人懇求耶穌讓他隨行。 19 耶穌沒有答應，只對他說：「回去見你的家人，將主為你所做的事和祂憐憫你的經過告訴他們吧！」
20 這人就回到低加坡里一帶宣揚耶穌為他所行的奇事，大家都很驚奇。
耶穌醫治有信心的人
21 耶穌再坐船回到對岸，立刻有一大群人在岸邊圍著祂。 22 人群中有一位會堂的主管名叫雅魯，他一見到耶穌便俯伏在祂腳前， 23 懇求說：「我小女兒快要死了，求你去把手按在她身上，醫治她，救她一命。」
24 耶穌和他同去，一大群人跟著祂，擁擠著祂。
25 有一個婦人患血漏病已經十二年， 26 經過許多醫生的診治，受盡痛苦，耗盡錢財，病情仍沒有好轉，反而更加嚴重。 27 她聽見耶穌的事，就夾在人群中擠到耶穌背後摸祂的衣服， 28 心想：「只要摸到祂的衣服，我就痊癒了！」
29 她的血漏立刻停止了，她感到自己痊癒了。 30 耶穌馬上知道有能力從自己身上發出，便在人群中轉過身來問：「誰摸了我的衣服？」
31 門徒對祂說：「你看，這麼多人在你周圍擠來擠去，你怎麼問誰摸你呢？」
32 耶穌環視四周，要找出摸祂的人。 33 那婦人害怕得發抖，她知道在自己身上發生了什麼事，於是上前俯伏在耶穌面前，將實情說了出來。
34 耶穌說：「女兒，你的信心救了你。安心地回去吧！你的病好了。」
35 耶穌還在說話的時候，有人從雅魯家中趕來，對雅魯說：「你的女兒已經死了，何必麻煩老師呢？」
36 耶穌聽了，便對雅魯說：「不要怕，只要信。」 37 於是，祂帶著彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰去雅魯家，不准其他人跟著。 38 他們到了那裡，只見在場的人嚎啕大哭，場面混亂。 39 耶穌進去問道：「你們為什麼大哭大嚷呢？這孩子並沒有死，只是睡著了。」
40 這些人聽了，都譏笑祂。耶穌讓他們全部出去，然後帶著孩子的父母和三個門徒進了房間。 41 祂拉著孩子的手說：「大利大，古米！」意思是：「小女孩，我吩咐你起來！」

A Demon-possessed Gerasene Healed
5 And they came to the other side of the sea,[a] to the region of the Gerasenes.[b] 2 And as[c] he was getting out of the boat, immediately from the tombs a man with an unclean spirit went to meet him, 3 who lived[d] among the tombs. And no one was able to bind him any longer, not even with a chain, 4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him, and the shackles had been shattered. And no one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 And during every night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was crying out and cutting himself with stones. 6 And when he[e] saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and knelt down before him. 7 And crying out with a loud voice he said, “What have I to do with you[f], Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore you by God, do not torment me!” 8 (For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit!”) 9 And he was asking him “What is your name?”[g] And he said to him, “My name is Legion, because we are many.” 10 And he was imploring him many times that he would not send them out of the region. 11 Now a large herd of pigs was there at the hill feeding, 12 and they implored him, saying, “Send us to the pigs so that we may enter into them.” 13 And he permitted them. And the unclean spirits came out and[h] entered into the pigs, and the herd—about two thousand—rushed headlong down the steep slope into the sea and were drowned in the sea. 14 And their herdsmen fled and reported it[i] in the town and in the countryside, and they came to see what it was that had happened. 15 And they came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed man sitting there clothed and in his right mind—the one who had had the legion—and they were afraid. 16 And those who had seen it[j] described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed man, and about the pigs. 17 And they began to urge him to depart from their region. 18 And as[k] he was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed began to implore[l] him that he could go with him. 19 And he did not permit him, but said to him, “Go to your home to your people and tell them all that the Lord has done for you, and that he has had mercy on you.” 20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him, and they were all astonished.
A Woman Healed and a Daughter Raised
21 And after[m] Jesus had crossed over again in the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered to him, and he was beside the sea. 22 And one of the rulers of the synagogue came—Jairus by name—and when he[n] saw him, he fell down at his feet. 23 And he was imploring him many times, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death![o] Come, lay your[p] hands on her, so that she will get well and will live.” 24 And he went with him, and a large crowd was following him and pressing around him.
25 And there was a woman who was suffering from hemorrhages[q] twelve years. 26 And she had endured many things under many physicians, and had spent all that she had[r] and had received no help at all, but instead became worse.[s] 27 When she[t] heard about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind him and[u] touched his cloak, 28 for she was saying, “If I touch just his clothing, I will be healed!” 29 And immediately her hemorrhage stopped[v] and she realized in her[w] body that she was healed of her[x] suffering. 30 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from himself, turned around in the crowd and[y] said, “Who touched my clothing?” 31 And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing upon you, and you say ‘Who touched me?’” 32 And he was looking around to see the one who had done this. 33 So the woman, frightened and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. 34 But he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be well from your suffering.”
35 While[z] he was still speaking, they came from the synagogue ruler’s house[aa] saying, “Your daughter has died. Why trouble the Teacher further?” 36 But Jesus, ignoring[ab] what was said,[ac] told the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid—only believe!” 37 And he did not allow anyone to follow along with him except Peter and James and John, the brother of James. 38 And they came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue and saw a commotion, and people weeping and wailing loudly. 39 And when he[ad] entered, he said to them, “Why are you agitated and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping.” 40 And they began laughing[ae] at him. But he sent them all out and[af] took along the father and mother of the child, and those who were with him, and went in to where the child was. 41 And taking hold of the child’s hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”), 42 and immediately the girl stood up and began walking around[ag] (for she was twelve years old). And immediately they were utterly and completely astonished.[ah] 43 And he commanded them strictly that no one should learn of this, and said to give her something[ai] to eat.

Jesus Heals a Man Possessed by Demons
5 They came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gerasenes.[a] 2 And when he had stepped out of the boat, immediately a man from the tombs with an unclean spirit met him.(A) 3 He lived among the tombs, and no one could restrain him any more, even with a chain, 4 for he had often been restrained with shackles and chains, but the chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he broke in pieces, and no one had the strength to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always howling and bruising himself with stones. 6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and bowed down before him,(B) 7 and he shouted at the top of his voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”(C) 8 For he had said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 Then Jesus[b] asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” 10 He begged him earnestly not to send them out of the region. 11 Now there on the hillside a great herd of swine was feeding, 12 and the unclean spirits[c] begged him, “Send us into the swine; let us enter them.” 13 So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the swine, and the herd, numbering about two thousand, stampeded down the steep bank into the sea and were drowned in the sea.
14 The swineherds ran off and told it in the city and in the country. Then people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 They came to Jesus and saw the man possessed by demons sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the legion, and they became frightened.(D) 16 Those who had seen what had happened to the man possessed by demons and to the swine reported it. 17 Then they began to beg Jesus[d] to leave their neighborhood.(E) 18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him. 19 But Jesus[e] refused and said to him, “Go home to your own people, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and what mercy he has shown you.” 20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone was amazed.(F)
A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed
21 When Jesus had crossed again in the boat[f] to the other side, a great crowd gathered around him, and he was by the sea.(G) 22 Then one of the leaders of the synagogue, named Jairus, came and, when he saw him, fell at his feet(H) 23 and pleaded with him repeatedly, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.”(I) 24 So he went with him.
And a large crowd followed him and pressed in on him. 25 Now there was a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years.(J) 26 She had endured much under many physicians and had spent all that she had, and she was no better but rather grew worse. 27 She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 for she said, “If I but touch his cloak, I will be made well.” 29 Immediately her flow of blood stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. 30 Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my cloak?” 31 And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can you say, ‘Who touched me?’ ” 32 He looked all around to see who had done it. 33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling, fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”
35 While he was still speaking, some people came from the synagogue leader’s house to say, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further?” 36 But overhearing[g] what they said, Jesus said to the synagogue leader, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” 37 He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James. 38 When they came to the synagogue leader’s house, he saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. 39 When he had entered, he said to them, “Why do you make a commotion and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping.” 40 And they laughed at him. Then he put them all outside and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was. 41 Taking her by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, get up!” 42 And immediately the girl stood up and began to walk about (she was twelve years of age). At this they were overcome with amazement. 43 He strictly ordered them that no one should know this and told them to give her something to eat.
