⁴⁴ And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.^[a]

³³ “We are going up to Jerusalem,”^(A) he said, “and the Son of Man^(B) will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law.^(C) They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, ³⁴ who will mock him and spit on him, flog him^(D) and kill him.^(E) Three days later^(F) he will rise.”^(G)

²⁷ Indeed Herod^(A) and Pontius Pilate^(B) met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus,^(C) whom you anointed. ²⁸ They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.^(D)
