耶穌受試探
4 耶穌充滿聖靈，從約旦河回來，被聖靈帶到曠野， 2 受魔鬼的試探四十天。在那些日子裡，耶穌什麼也沒有吃，四十天結束的時候[a]，他就餓了。 3 魔鬼對他說：「你如果是神的兒子，就吩咐這石頭變成食物吧！」
4 耶穌回答：「經上記著：『人活著不是單靠食物[b]。』[c]」
5 魔鬼[d]就把耶穌領上高處[e][f]，在一瞬間給他看天下萬國， 6 對他說[g]：「這一切權柄和榮耀我都將給你，因為這已經交給了我，我願意給誰就給誰。 7 所以，你如果在我面前下拜，這一切就都是你的了。」
8 耶穌回答說：「[h]經上記著：
『要敬拜主——你的神，
唯獨事奉他。』[i]」
9 魔鬼又帶耶穌到耶路撒冷，讓他站在聖殿的頂端，對他說：「你如果是神的兒子，就從這裡跳下去吧！ 10 因為經上記著：
『他會為你吩咐他的天使保護你；
11 他們會用手托住你，
免得你的腳撞在石頭上。』[j]」
12 耶穌回答說：「經上說：『不可試探主——你的神。』[k]」
13 魔鬼用盡種種試探以後，就暫時離開了耶穌。
在加利利的服事
14 耶穌帶著聖靈的能力[l]回到加利利，他的消息傳遍了周圍所有的地區。 15 他在他們的會堂裡教導人，受到所有人的讚揚。
在拿撒勒被拒絕
16 耶穌來到拿撒勒，就是他長大的地方。在安息日那天，他照自己的習慣進了會堂，站起來要誦讀經文。 17 有人就把先知以賽亞的書遞給他。他展開書卷，找到一處，那裡寫道：
20 然後耶穌把書捲好，還給會堂助理，坐了下來。會堂裡，眾人的眼睛都注視著他。 21 耶穌開始對他們說：「今天，在你們耳中的這段經文，已經應驗了。」
22 大家都讚許他，對他口裡所發出的恩典的話語感到驚奇，又說：「這不就是約瑟的兒子嗎？」
23 耶穌對他們說：「你們一定會用這句諺語對我說：『醫生啊，使你自己痊癒吧！』，『我們聽見在迦百農所發生的事，你在你的家鄉這裡也應該做！』」
24 耶穌又說：「我確實地告訴你們：沒有一位先知在自己的家鄉是受歡迎的。 25 我真的告訴你們：在以利亞的那些日子裡，天空閉塞了三年六個月，遍地有大饑荒，那時，在以色列有許多寡婦； 26 可是以利亞並沒有被派遣到她們中的任何一個人那裡，只被派遣到西頓的撒勒法一個寡婦那裡。 27 還有，在先知以利沙的時代，在以色列有許多痲瘋病人；可是除了敘利亞人奈曼以外，沒有一個人被潔淨。」
28 會堂裡的人聽了這些話，都滿腔怒火。 29 他們就起來把耶穌趕出城外，拉到山崖上，要把他推下去。他們的城是建在山上的。 30 但耶穌從他們中間穿過去，走開了。
驅趕鬼魔
31 耶穌下到加利利的一個城迦百農去，在安息日教導人。 32 眾人對他的教導都驚嘆不已，因為他的話具有權柄。 33 在會堂裡，有一個被汙穢的鬼魔之靈附身的人。他大聲喊叫： 34 「別管我們！拿撒勒人耶穌，我們與你有什麼關係？你來毀滅我們嗎？我知道你是誰，你是神的那位聖者。」
35 耶穌斥責汙靈說：「住口！從他身上出來！」
鬼魔把那個人摔倒在眾人中間，就從他身上出來了，但沒有傷害他。 36 大家都驚訝不已，彼此談論說：「這是什麼事呢？他帶著權柄和能力命令那些汙靈，它們就出來了！」 37 於是耶穌的名聲傳遍了那一帶所有的地方。
在迦百農治病
38 耶穌起身離開會堂，進了西門的家。西門的岳母正發高燒，他們就為她求耶穌。 39 耶穌就站在她旁邊，斥責那高燒，燒就退了。她立刻起來，服事他們。
40 日落的時候，眾人把患有各種疾病的人都帶到耶穌那裡。他按手在他們每一個人身上，使他們痊癒。 41 也有鬼魔從許多人身上出來，喊叫說：「你是[q]神的兒子！」耶穌斥責它們，不讓它們說話，因為它們知道他是基督。
在加利利傳道
42 天亮的時候，耶穌出去，走到一個荒僻的地方。眾人尋找他，來到他那裡，想留住他，不讓他離開。 43 但是耶穌對他們說：「我還必須到別的城去傳神國的福音，因為我是為此奉差派的。」 44 於是耶穌繼續在加利利[r]地區的各會堂裡傳道。

耶穌受試探
4 耶穌被聖靈充滿，從約旦河回來後，隨聖靈的引導來到曠野， 2 在那裡受魔鬼的試探四十天。那些日子耶穌什麼也沒吃。那段日子過後，祂餓了。 3 魔鬼對祂說：「如果你是上帝的兒子，可以把這塊石頭變成食物來吃啊。」
4 耶穌回答說：「聖經上說，『人活著不是單靠食物。』」
5 魔鬼又帶祂上到高處，頃刻間把天下萬國展示給祂看， 6 又說：「我要把這一切權勢和榮耀都給你，因為這一切全交給我了，我想給誰就給誰。 7 所以如果你向我下拜，這一切就是你的了。」
8 耶穌回答說：「聖經上說，『要敬拜主——你的上帝，單單事奉祂。』」
9 魔鬼又帶耶穌到耶路撒冷，讓祂站在聖殿的最高處，說：「如果你是上帝的兒子，就從這裡跳下去吧， 10 因為聖經上說，『上帝會吩咐祂的天使保護你， 11 他們會用手托住你，不讓你的腳碰在石頭上。』」
12 耶穌回答說：「聖經上說，『不可試探主——你的上帝。』」
13 魔鬼用盡各樣的試探後，暫時離開了耶穌。
拿撒勒人厭棄耶穌
14 耶穌帶著聖靈的能力回到加利利，祂的名聲傳遍了周圍地區。 15 祂在各會堂裡教導人，大家都稱讚祂。
16 祂來到自己長大的地方拿撒勒，照常在安息日進會堂，並站起來誦讀聖經。 17 有人把以賽亞先知書遞給祂，祂打開書卷，找到這樣一段經文：
18 「主的靈在我身上，
因為祂膏立了我，
讓我傳福音給貧窮的人，
差遣我宣告被擄的人得釋放、
瞎眼的人得見光明、
受欺壓的人得自由，
19 又宣告上帝悅納人的恩年已經來臨。」
20 耶穌讀完便收好書卷，還給負責的人，然後坐下。會堂裡的人都把目光集中在祂身上。
21 祂就對他們說：「你們剛才聽見的這段經文今天已經應驗了。」
22 大家都稱讚祂，聽見祂那些充滿恩典的話，都感到驚奇，就說：「這不是約瑟的兒子嗎？」
23 耶穌對他們說：「你們肯定會把這句俗話用在我身上，說，『醫生啊，治好你自己吧！你在迦百農所行的一切，我們都聽說了，也在你家鄉行給我們看吧！』 24 可是我實在告訴你們，先知在自己的家鄉都是不受歡迎的。 25 事實上，在以利亞先知的時代，天乾旱無雨達三年半之久，遍地有大饑荒。那時，以色列國有許多寡婦， 26 但以利亞並沒有奉命去幫助她們任何人，只奉命去幫助住在西頓地區撒勒法的一個寡婦。 27 在以利沙先知的時代，以色列國有許多患痲瘋病的人，但沒有一個人得到醫治，反而敘利亞的乃縵得到了醫治。」
28 會堂裡的人聽了這些話都怒火中燒， 29 就起來把耶穌趕出城外，帶到懸崖邊，要把祂推下去。他們的城就坐落在山上。 30 耶穌卻從他們中間穿過，離開了那裡。
加利利趕鬼醫病
31 耶穌下到加利利的迦百農鎮，在安息日教導眾人。 32 聽眾對祂的教導感到驚奇，因為祂的話裡充滿權柄。
33 在會堂裡有一個被污鬼附身的人高聲喊叫： 34 「唉！拿撒勒的耶穌啊，我們和你有什麼關係？你是來毀滅我們嗎？我知道你是誰，你是上帝的聖者！」
35 耶穌責備牠說：「住口！從他身上出來！」污鬼當場把那人摔倒，然後從他身上離開了，絲毫沒有傷害他。
36 大家都很驚訝，彼此議論說：「這是怎麼回事？祂的話竟然帶著權柄和能力，一吩咐污鬼，牠們就出來了！」
37 耶穌的名聲傳遍了周圍地區。
耶穌醫治許多人
38 祂離開會堂，到了西門的家。那時，西門的岳母正在發高燒，眾人就求耶穌醫治她。
39 耶穌站在她旁邊，斥責熱病，熱病就退了，她便立刻起來服侍他們。
40 到了黃昏，人們把患各種疾病的人帶到耶穌面前。耶穌把手按在病人身上，一一治好他們， 41 並趕出許多附在人身上的鬼。那些鬼喊叫著：「你是上帝的兒子！」耶穌卻斥責牠們，不許牠們說話，因為牠們知道祂是基督。
42 黎明時，耶穌退到一處僻靜的地方。眾人四處找祂，找到後想留住祂，不讓祂離開。 43 但耶穌對他們說：「我必須把上帝國的福音傳到其他的城鎮去，因為我是為此而被差來的。」 44 於是耶穌繼續在加利利[a]各會堂裡傳道。

The Temptation of Jesus
4 Then Jesus(A) left the Jordan,(B) full of the Holy Spirit,(C) and was led by the Spirit(D) in the wilderness 2 for forty days(E) to be tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they were over, he was hungry. 3 The devil said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.’
4 But Jesus answered him, ‘It is written: Man must not live on bread alone.’[a](F)[b]
5 So he took him up[c] and showed him all the kingdoms of the world(G) in a moment of time. 6 The devil said to him, ‘I will give you their splendour and all this authority, because it has been given over to me,(H) and I can give it to anyone I want. 7 If you, then, will worship me,[d] all will be yours.’
8 And Jesus answered him,[e] ‘It is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve(I) him only.’[f]
9 So he took him to Jerusalem, had him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
He will give his angels orders concerning you,
to protect you,[g](J) 11 and
they will support you with their hands,
so that you will not strike
your foot against a stone.’[h](K)
12 And Jesus answered him, ‘It is said: Do not test the Lord your God.’(L)[i]
13 After the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from him for a time.
Ministry in Galilee
14 Then Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit,(M) and news about him spread throughout the entire vicinity.(N) 15 He was teaching in their synagogues,(O) being praised[j] by everyone.
Rejection at Nazareth
16 He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up.(P) As usual, he entered the synagogue on the Sabbath day(Q) and stood up to read.(R) 17 The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him, and unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written:
18 The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me[k]
to proclaim release[l] to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to set free the oppressed,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.[m](S)
20 He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down.(T) And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 He began by saying to them, ‘Today as you listen, this Scripture has been fulfilled.’(U)
22 They were all speaking well of him[n] and were amazed by the gracious words that came from his mouth; yet they said, ‘Isn’t this Joseph’s son? ’(V)
23 Then he said to them, ‘No doubt you will quote this proverb[o] to me: “Doctor, heal yourself. What we’ve heard that took place in Capernaum,(W) do here in your home town also.” ’
24 He also said, ‘Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his home town.(X) 25 But I say to you, there were certainly many widows in Israel in Elijah’s days,(Y) when the sky was shut up for three years and six months while a great famine came over all the land. 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them except a widow at Zarephath in Sidon.(Z) 27 And in the prophet Elisha’s time, there were many in Israel who had leprosy,[p] and yet not one of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.’(AA)
28 When they heard this, everyone in the synagogue was enraged. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town,(AB) and brought him to the edge of the hill that their town was built on, intending to hurl him over the cliff. 30 But he passed right through the crowd and went on his way.(AC)
Driving Out an Unclean Spirit
31 Then he went down to Capernaum,(AD) a town in Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbath. 32 They were astonished at his teaching because his message had authority.(AE) 33 In the synagogue there was a man with an unclean demonic spirit who cried out with a loud voice,(AF) 34 ‘Leave us alone! What do you have to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God! ’(AG)
35 But Jesus rebuked him(AH) and said, ‘Be silent and come out of him! ’(AI) And throwing him down before them, the demon came out of him without hurting him at all.
36 Amazement came over them all, and they were saying to one another, ‘What is this message? For he commands the unclean spirits with authority and power, and they come out! ’ 37 And news about him began to go out to every place in the vicinity.
Healings at Capernaum
38 After he left the synagogue, he entered Simon’s house.(AJ) Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked him about her.(AK) 39 So he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately(AL) and began to serve them.
40 When the sun was setting, all those who had anyone ill with various diseases brought them to him. As he laid his hands on each one of them, he healed them.(AM) 41 Also, demons were coming out of many, shouting and saying, ‘You are the Son of God! ’(AN) But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah.(AO)
42 When it was day, he went out and made his way to a deserted place.(AP) But the crowds were searching for him. They came to him and tried to keep him from leaving them. 43 But he said to them, ‘It is necessary for me to proclaim the good news about the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because I was sent for this purpose.’ 44 And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.[q](AQ)
