25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,
34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

31 Then (G)He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. 32 And they were (H)astonished at His teaching, (I)for His word was with authority. 33 (J)Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? (K)I know who You are—(L)the Holy One of God!”
35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, [c]“Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him. 36 Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” 37 And the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region.

25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.(A) 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.(B) 27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy[a] in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”(C)
28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town,(D) and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. 30 But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.(E)
Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit(F)
31 Then he went down to Capernaum,(G) a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people. 32 They were amazed at his teaching,(H) because his words had authority.(I)
33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, 34 “Go away! What do you want with us,(J) Jesus of Nazareth?(K) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are(L)—the Holy One of God!”(M)
35 “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly.(N) “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
36 All the people were amazed(O) and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority(P) and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!” 37 And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.(Q)
