上帝是至高的统治者
97 耶和华掌权，大地要欢欣！
众海岛要快乐！
2 密云和黑暗环绕在祂周围，
公义和公平是祂宝座的根基。
3 烈火做祂的先锋，
烧灭祂周围的仇敌。
4 祂的闪电照亮世界，
大地因此而战抖。
5 在天下之主耶和华面前，
群山如蜡熔化。
6 诸天述说祂的公义，
万民瞻仰祂的荣耀。
7 愿一切祭拜神像，
以神像夸口的人都蒙羞。
所有的神明啊，
你们都要向耶和华下拜。
8 耶和华啊，听见你的审判，
锡安就欢喜，
犹大的城邑就快乐。
9 因为你耶和华是普天下的至高者，
凌驾于万神之上。
10 爱耶和华的人都要憎恨罪恶，
因为祂保护敬虔人的生命，
从恶人手中拯救他们。
11 光照亮义人，
正直人心中有喜乐。
12 你们义人要以耶和华为乐，
称谢祂的圣名。

97 L'Éternel règne: que la terre soit dans l'allégresse, Que les îles nombreuses se réjouissent!
2 Les nuages et l'obscurité l'environnent, La justice et l'équité sont la base de son trône.
3 Le feu marche devant lui, Et embrase à l'entour ses adversaires.
4 Ses éclairs illuminent le monde, La terre le voit et tremble;
5 Les montagnes se fondent comme la cire devant l'Éternel, Devant le Seigneur de toute la terre.
6 Les cieux publient sa justice, Et tous les peuples voient sa gloire.
7 Ils sont confus, tous ceux qui servent les images, Qui se font gloire des idoles. Tous les dieux se prosternent devant lui.
8 Sion l'entend et se réjouit, Les filles de Juda sont dans l'allégresse, A cause de tes jugements, ô Éternel!
9 Car toi, Éternel! tu es le Très Haut sur toute la terre, Tu es souverainement élevé au-dessus de tous les dieux.
10 Vous qui aimez l'Éternel, haïssez le mal! Il garde les âmes de ses fidèles, Il les délivre de la main des méchants.
11 La lumière est semée pour le juste, Et la joie pour ceux dont le coeur est droit.
12 Justes, réjouissez-vous en l'Éternel, Et célébrez par vos louanges sa sainteté!

The Divine Ruler of All
I
1 The Lord is king; let the earth rejoice;
let the many islands be glad.(A)
2 Cloud and darkness surround him;
justice and right are the foundation of his throne.(B)
3 Fire goes before him,
consuming his foes on every side.
4 His lightening illumines the world;
the earth sees and trembles.(C)
5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.(D)
6 The heavens proclaim his justice;
all peoples see his glory.(E)

7 All who serve idols are put to shame,
who glory in worthless things;
all gods[b] bow down before him.(F)
8 Zion hears and is glad,
and the daughters of Judah rejoice
because of your judgments, O Lord.(G)
9 For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth,(H)
exalted far above all gods.
10 You who love the Lord, hate evil,
he protects the souls of the faithful,(I)
rescues them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light dawns for the just,
and gladness for the honest of heart.(J)
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you just,
and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.(K)

- Psalm 97 The hymn begins with God appearing in a storm, a traditional picture of some ancient Near Eastern gods (Ps 97:1–6); cf. Ps 18:8–16; Mi 1:3–4; Hb 3:3–15. Israel rejoices in the overthrowing of idol worshipers and their gods (Ps 97:7–9) and the rewarding of the faithful righteous (Ps 97:10–12).
- 97:7 All gods: divine beings thoroughly subordinate to Israel’s God. The Greek translates “angels,” an interpretation adopted by Hb 1:6.
