76 (76:1) Au chef des chantres. Avec instruments à cordes. Psaume d'Asaph. Cantique. (76:2) Dieu est connu en Juda, Son nom est grand en Israël.
2 (76:3) Sa tente est à Salem, Et sa demeure à Sion.
3 (76:4) C'est là qu'il a brisé les flèches, Le bouclier, l'épée et les armes de guerre. -Pause.
4 (76:5) Tu es plus majestueux, plus puissant Que les montagnes des ravisseurs.
5 (76:6) Ils ont été dépouillés, ces héros pleins de courage, Ils se sont endormis de leur dernier sommeil; Ils n'ont pas su se défendre, tous ces vaillants hommes.
6 (76:7) A ta menace, Dieu de Jacob! Ils se sont endormis, cavaliers et chevaux.
7 (76:8) Tu es redoutable, ô toi! Qui peut te résister, quand ta colère éclate?
8 (76:9) Du haut des cieux tu as proclamé la sentence; La terre effrayée s'est tenue tranquille,
9 (76:10) Lorsque Dieu s'est levé pour faire justice, Pour sauver tous les malheureux de la terre. -Pause.
10 (76:11) L'homme te célèbre même dans sa fureur, Quand tu te revêts de tout ton courroux.
11 (76:12) Faites des voeux à l'Éternel, votre Dieu, et accomplissez-les! Que tous ceux qui l'environnent apportent des dons au Dieu terrible!
12 (76:13) Il abat l'orgueil des princes, Il est redoutable aux rois de la terre.

76 In (A)Judah God is known;
His name is great in Israel.
2 In [b]Salem also is His tabernacle,
And His dwelling place in Zion.
3 There He broke the arrows of the bow,
The shield and sword of battle. Selah
4 You are more glorious and excellent
(B)Than the mountains of prey.
5 (C)The stouthearted were plundered;
(D)They [c]have sunk into their sleep;
And none of the mighty men have found the use of their hands.
6 (E)At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob,
Both the chariot and horse were cast into a dead sleep.
7 You, Yourself, are to be feared;
And (F)who may stand in Your presence
When once You are angry?
8 (G)You caused judgment to be heard from heaven;
(H)The earth feared and was still,
9 When God (I)arose to judgment,
To deliver all the oppressed of the earth. Selah
10 (J)Surely the wrath of man shall praise You;
With the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself.
11 (K)Make vows to the Lord your God, and pay them;
(L)Let all who are around Him bring presents to Him who ought to be feared.
12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes;
(M)He is awesome to the kings of the earth.

1 God is renowned in Judah;
in Israel his name is great.(A)
2 His tent is in Salem,(B)
his dwelling place in Zion.(C)
3 There he broke the flashing arrows,(D)
the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.[b](E)
4 You are radiant with light,(F)
more majestic than mountains rich with game.
5 The valiant(G) lie plundered,
they sleep their last sleep;(H)
not one of the warriors
can lift his hands.
6 At your rebuke,(I) God of Jacob,
both horse and chariot(J) lie still.
7 It is you alone who are to be feared.(K)
Who can stand(L) before you when you are angry?(M)
8 From heaven you pronounced judgment,
and the land feared(N) and was quiet—
9 when you, God, rose up to judge,(O)
to save all the afflicted(P) of the land.
10 Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise,(Q)
and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.[c]
