为君王祈祷
所罗门的诗。
72 上帝啊，
求你将你的公正赐给王，
将你的公义赐给王的儿子。
2 让他凭公义审判你的子民，
按公平对待那些贫苦的人。
3 愿大山给百姓带来繁荣，
小山带来公义。
4 愿他保护百姓中受苦的人，
拯救贫穷的人，打倒欺压者。
5 只要日月尚存，
愿百姓永远敬畏你。
6 愿他的统治如春雨降在新割过的草场上，
又像甘霖滋润大地。
7 在他统治之下，
愿义人兴旺，国富民强，
如月长存。
8 愿他的疆域横跨洋海，
从幼发拉底河直到地极。
9 愿旷野的居民都来向他下拜，
敌人都扑倒在尘土中。
10 愿他施、示巴和西巴的君王都来纳贡称臣。
11 愿君王都敬拜他，
万国都事奉他。
12 贫穷人呼求，他便搭救；
困苦人无助，他就伸出援手。
13 他怜悯软弱和贫困的人，
拯救贫困人的性命。
14 他要救他们脱离别人的压迫和暴力，
因为他爱惜他们的生命。
15 愿王寿命长久，
愿人们将示巴的金子献给他，
不断为他祷告，
终日称颂他。
16 愿遍地五谷丰登，
山顶上出产丰富，
如黎巴嫩的密林。
愿各城人口稠密如原野的青草。
17 愿他的名流芳百世，如日长存。
愿万国都因他而蒙福，
都称颂他。
18 以色列的上帝耶和华当受称颂，
唯有祂行奇妙的事。
19 愿祂荣耀的名永受称颂！
愿普天下充满祂的荣耀。

4 願他保護百姓中受苦的人，

7 在他統治之下，
願義人興旺，國富民強，

9 願曠野的居民都來向他下拜，
敵人都仆倒在塵土中。

12 貧窮人呼求，他便搭救；
困苦人無助，他就伸出援手。
13 他憐憫軟弱和貧困的人，
拯救貧困人的性命。
14 他要救他們脫離別人的壓迫和暴力，
因為他愛惜他們的生命。
15 願王壽命長久，

Psalm 72
1 Een lied voor Salomo.
God, maak de koning zo rechtvaardig als U.
Leer de zoon van de koning hoe hij rechtvaardig moet heersen.
2 Dan zal hij uw volk rechtvaardig leiden.
Hij zal opkomen voor de arme en verdrukte mensen.
3 Er zal vrede heersen in de bergen.
Uw volk zal in vrede leven in de heuvels.
4 Hij zal opkomen voor mensen in nood
en de slechte mensen straffen.
5 De mensen zullen diep ontzag voor U hebben,
door alle eeuwen heen,
zolang de zon en de maan bestaan.
6 De koning zal net zo goed zijn voor zijn volk
als regen voor het gras,
als regendruppels die de aarde vochtig maken.
7 In de tijd dat hij regeert, zal in het land rechtvaardigheid heersen.
Er zal grote vrede zijn, totdat de maan er niet meer is.
8 Hij zal heersen van zee tot zee,
vanaf de Rivier[a] tot aan het einde van de aarde.
9 De bewoners van de woestijn zullen zich voor hem buigen.
Zijn vijanden zullen de grond voor zijn voeten kussen.
10 De koningen van Tarsis en de landen langs de kust
zullen hem geschenken brengen.
De koningen van Scheba en Saba
zullen hem eren met geschenken.
11 Alle koningen zullen voor hem buigen,
alle volken zullen hem dienen.
12 Hij redt de mensen in nood als ze hem om hulp roepen.
Want hij redt de mensen voor wie niemand opkomt.
13 Hij zorgt voor arme en verdrukte mensen.
Hij zal hen redden.
14 Hij redt hen van de mensen die hun kwaad doen.
Hun leven is kostbaar voor hem.
15 Ik hoop dat de koning lang zal leven.
De mensen zullen hem goud uit Scheba geven.
Ze zullen aldoor voor hem bidden dat God goed voor hem zal zijn.
16 Er zullen altijd grote oogsten zijn.
Het graan zal zelfs op de bergtoppen ruisen
als de bossen op de Libanon.
De voorspoed van de bewoners van de steden
zal groeien als het gras op de velden.
17 Hij zal nooit vergeten worden.
Zo lang de zon bestaat zal zijn naam genoemd blijven worden.
Door hem zal het met iedereen goed gaan.
Alle volken zullen hem prijzen.
18 Prijs de Heer God, de God van Israël.
Hij alleen doet wonderen.
19 Prijs Hem voor eeuwig.
Laat op de hele aarde te zien zijn hoe machtig Hij is.
Amen, ja, zo zal het zijn.
20 Hier eindigen de gebeden van David, de zoon van Isaï.

Psalm 72
A Psalm for Solomon.
1 Give the king thy judgments, O God,
and thy righteousness unto the king’s son.
2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness,
and thy poor with judgment.
3 The mountains shall bring peace to the people,
and the little hills, by righteousness.
4 He shall judge the poor of the people,
he shall save the children of the needy,
and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
5 They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure,
throughout all generations.
6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass:
as showers that water the earth.
7 In his days shall the righteous flourish;
and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.
8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,
and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
9 They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him;
and his enemies shall lick the dust.
10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents:
the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him:
all nations shall serve him.
12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth;
the poor also, and him that hath no helper.
13 He shall spare the poor and needy,
and shall save the souls of the needy.
14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence:
and precious shall their blood be in his sight.
15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba:
prayer also shall be made for him continually;
and daily shall he be praised.
16 There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains;
the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon:
and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
17 His name shall endure for ever:
his name shall be continued as long as the sun:
and men shall be blessed in him:
all nations shall call him blessed.
18 Blessed be the Lord God,
the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.
19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever:
and let the whole earth be filled with his glory;
Amen, and Amen.
20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.
