求神降罚恶人
58 大卫的金诗，交于伶长。调用休要毁坏。
1 世人哪，你们默然不语，真合公义吗？施行审判，岂按正直吗？
2 不然！你们是心中作恶，你们在地上称出你们手所行的强暴。
3 恶人一出母胎，就与神疏远；一离母腹，便走错路，说谎话。
4 他们的毒气好像蛇的毒气，他们好像塞耳的聋虺，
5 不听行法术的声音，虽用极灵的咒语，也是不听。
6 神啊，求你敲碎他们口中的牙！耶和华啊，求你敲掉少壮狮子的大牙！
7 愿他们消灭如急流的水一般，他们瞅准射箭的时候，愿箭头仿佛砍断。
8 愿他们像蜗牛消化过去，又像妇人坠落未见天日的胎。
9 你们用荆棘烧火，锅还未热，他要用旋风把青的和烧着的一齐刮去。
10 义人见仇敌遭报就欢喜，要在恶人的血中洗脚。
11 因此，人必说：“义人诚然有善报，在地上果有施行判断的神。”

Psalm 58
To the Chief Musician; [set to the tune of] “Do Not Destroy.” A record of memorable thoughts of David.
1 Do you indeed in silence speak righteousness, O you mighty ones? [Or is the righteousness, rightness, and justice you should speak quite dumb?] Do you judge fairly and uprightly, O you sons of men?
2 No, in your heart you devise wickedness; you deal out in the land the violence of your hands.
3 The ungodly are perverse and estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
4 Their poison is like the venom of a serpent; they are like the deaf adder or asp that stops its ear,
5 Which listens not to the voice of charmers or of the enchanter never casting spells so cunningly.
6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouths; break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord.
7 Let them melt away as water which runs on apace; when he aims his arrows, let them be as if they were headless or split apart.
8 Let them be as a snail dissolving slime as it passes on or as a festering sore which wastes away, like [the child to which] a woman gives untimely birth that has not seen the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the thorns [that are placed under them for fuel], He will take them away as with a whirlwind, the green and the burning ones alike.
10 The [unyieldingly] righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.
11 Men will say, Surely there is a reward for the [uncompromisingly] righteous; surely there is a God Who judges on the earth.

2 Vraiment, est-ce en vous taisant ╵que vous rendez la justice[b] ?
Jugez-vous les hommes ╵en toute droiture ?
3 Non, vous commettez ╵sciemment l’injustice !
Vous propagez sur la terre ╵la violence de vos mains.
4 Dès le ventre maternel, ╵les méchants s’écartent du chemin,
depuis leur naissance, ╵les menteurs s’égarent.
5 Ils sont venimeux ╵comme des serpents,
ils se bouchent les oreilles ╵comme la vipère sourde
6 qui n’écoute pas ╵la voix des charmeurs
et de l’enchanteur ╵expert dans son art.
7 O Dieu, brise-leur les dents ╵dans la bouche :
Eternel, arrache ╵les crocs de ces lions !
8 Que ces gens-là disparaissent ╵comme les eaux qui s’écoulent !
Rends leurs flèches sans effet ╵quand ils tirent de leur arc[c].
9 Qu’ils périssent comme la limace ╵qui fond tout en se mouvant !
Comme les enfants mort-nés, ╵qu’ils ne voient pas le soleil !
10 Et avant que leurs épines[d] ╵ne deviennent des buissons,
qu’elles soient vertes ou sèches, ╵qu’un tourbillon les emporte[e] !
11 Pour le juste, quelle joie ╵de voir les méchants punis.
Dans leur sang, ╵il se lavera les pieds.
12 Et les hommes pourront dire :
« Oui, ceux qui sont justes ╵trouvent une récompense.
Il y a un Dieu ╵qui exerce la justice ╵sur la terre. »

- 58.2 Plusieurs changent la ponctuation des lettres d’un mot hébreu et parviennent à la traduction suivante qui, comme 82.1, 6, appelle les dirigeants des « dieux » : Vos sentences, ô dieux, sont-elles vraiment conformes à la justice ? Jugez-vous avec droiture, vous qui n’êtes que des hommes ?
- 58.8 Hébreu peu clair.
- 58.10 Les épines sont un combustible qui dégage rapidement de la chaleur. Ce verset a été très diversement rendu. L’idée commune à toutes les traductions est celle de la rapidité du jugement.

Psalm 58
For the choir director: A psalm[a] of David, to be sung to the tune “Do Not Destroy!”
1 Justice—do you rulers[b] know the meaning of the word?
Do you judge the people fairly?
2 No! You plot injustice in your hearts.
You spread violence throughout the land.
3 These wicked people are born sinners;
even from birth they have lied and gone their own way.
4 They spit venom like deadly snakes;
they are like cobras that refuse to listen,
5 ignoring the tunes of the snake charmers,
no matter how skillfully they play.
6 Break off their fangs, O God!
Smash the jaws of these lions, O Lord!
7 May they disappear like water into thirsty ground.
Make their weapons useless in their hands.[c]
8 May they be like snails that dissolve into slime,
like a stillborn child who will never see the sun.
9 God will sweep them away, both young and old,
faster than a pot heats over burning thorns.
10 The godly will rejoice when they see injustice avenged.
They will wash their feet in the blood of the wicked.
11 Then at last everyone will say,
“There truly is a reward for those who live for God;
surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth.”
