17 (Tefillah of Dovid) Hear the tzedek (righteous plea of a just cause), Hashem, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my tefillah, that goeth not out of lips of mirmah (deceit).
2 Let my mishpat (right) come forth from Thy presence; let Thine eyes behold the things that are right.
3 Thou hast probed mine lev; Thou hast visited me in the lailah; Thou hast tested me and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
4 Concerning the works of men, by the Devar of Thy lips I have kept myself from the paths of the cruel.
5 Uphold my goings in Thy paths, that my footsteps stumble not.
6 I have called upon Thee, for Thou wilt hear me, O El; incline Thine ear unto me, and hear my prayer.
7 Show Thy marvellous chesed, O Thou Moshi’a Who saves by Thy right hand them which put their trust in Thee from those that rise up against them.
8 Be shomer over me as the apple of Thy eye; hide me in the shadow of Thy wings,
9 From the resha’im that oppress me, from my deadly enemies threatening my nefesh, who surround me.
10 They have closed up callously and mercilessly against me; with their mouth they speak with ge’ut (pride).
11 At every step they have surrounded me; their purpose is to strike down to ha’aretz;
12 Like aryeh eager to tear his prey, and like a young lion lurking in ambush.
13 Arise, Hashem, confront him, cast him down; deliver my nefesh from the resha with Thy cherev;
14 From men with Thy yad, Hashem, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life, and with Thy treasures Thou fillest their belly; they are satisfied with children, and leave their abundance to their babes.
15 As for me, in tzedek I will behold Thy face; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy temunah (form; see Num 12:8).

17 Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
3 Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
10 They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
13 Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:
14 From men which are thy hand, O Lord, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

17 Lạy CHÚA, xin nghe điều công chính,
Xin chú ý lời tôi kêu van,
Xin lắng tai nghe lời tôi cầu nguyện,
Từ môi miệng không gian dối.
2 Nguyện chính Ngài xét xử cho tôi,[a]
Xin mắt Ngài xem xét sự ngay thẳng.
3 Ngài đã dò thử lòng tôi, Ngài đã xem xét tôi lúc ban đêm,[b]
Ngài đã thử luyện tôi và không thấy gì.
Tôi đã quyết định miệng tôi sẽ không phạm tội.
4 Còn về công việc loài người.
Nhờ lời Ngài,
Chính tôi tránh khỏi
Con đường kẻ hung bạo.
5 Tôi bước đi vững chắc trong đường lối Ngài,
Chân tôi không trượt ngã.
6 Lạy Đức Chúa Trời, tôi kêu cầu Ngài vì Ngài đáp lời tôi.
Xin nghiêng tai nghe lời tôi.
7 Lạy Đấng giải cứu, xin bày tỏ tình thương diệu kỳ của Ngài
Cho những kẻ ẩn náu mình nơi tay hữu Ngài
Thoát khỏi kẻ thù họ.

Miệng chúng nó nói những lời kiêu căng.

Mắt chúng chăm chú đặng quật tôi ngã xuống đất.
12 Nó giống như sư tử hăm hở cấu xé,
Như sư tử tơ ngồi rình trong nơi kín đáo.
13 Lạy CHÚA, xin hãy đứng dậy, đối diện và đánh quỵ chúng.
Xin hãy dùng gươm Ngài cứu linh hồn tôi khỏi kẻ ác.
14 Lạy CHÚA, cánh tay Ngài cứu chúng tôi khỏi người phàm,
Là người mà phần chúng nó chỉ có trong đời sống trần gian.
Nguyện Ngài dành sẵn nhiều án phạt cho chúng,[d]
Nhiều cho con cái chúng,
Lại còn thừa đến cháu chắt nữa.
15 Còn tôi, tôi sẽ chiêm ngưỡng mặt Chúa trong sự công chính,

A prayer of David.
1 Hear me,(A) Lord, my plea is just;
listen to my cry.(B)
Hear(C) my prayer—
it does not rise from deceitful lips.(D)
2 Let my vindication(E) come from you;
may your eyes see what is right.(F)
3 Though you probe my heart,(G)
though you examine me at night and test me,(H)
you will find that I have planned no evil;(I)
my mouth has not transgressed.(J)
4 Though people tried to bribe me,
I have kept myself from the ways of the violent
through what your lips have commanded.
5 My steps have held to your paths;(K)
my feet have not stumbled.(L)
6 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;(M)
turn your ear to me(N) and hear my prayer.(O)
7 Show me the wonders of your great love,(P)
you who save by your right hand(Q)
those who take refuge(R) in you from their foes.
8 Keep me(S) as the apple of your eye;(T)

9 from the wicked who are out to destroy me,
from my mortal enemies who surround me.(W)
10 They close up their callous hearts,(X)

with your sword rescue me from the wicked.
14 By your hand save me from such people, Lord,

May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies;
may their children gorge themselves on it,
and may there be leftovers(AG) for their little ones.
