31 （ 大 卫 的 诗 ， 交 与 伶 长 。 ） 耶 和 华 啊 ， 我 投 靠 你 ； 求 你 使 我 永 不 羞 愧 ； 凭 你 的 公 义 搭 救 我 ！
2 求 你 侧 耳 而 听 ， 快 快 救 我 ！ 作 我 坚 固 的 磐 石 ， 拯 救 我 的 保 障 ！
3 因 为 你 是 我 的 岩 石 ， 我 的 山 寨 ； 所 以 ， 求 你 为 你 名 的 缘 故 引 导 我 ， 指 点 我 。
4 求 你 救 我 脱 离 人 为 我 暗 设 的 网 罗 ， 因 为 你 是 我 的 保 障 。
5 我 将 我 的 灵 魂 交 在 你 手 里 ； 耶 和 华 诚 实 的 神 啊 ， 你 救 赎 了 我 。
6 我 恨 恶 那 信 奉 虚 无 之 神 的 人 ； 我 却 倚 靠 耶 和 华 。
7 我 要 为 你 的 慈 爱 高 兴 欢 喜 ； 因 为 你 见 过 我 的 困 苦 ， 知 道 我 心 中 的 艰 难 。
8 你 未 曾 把 我 交 在 仇 敌 手 里 ； 你 使 我 的 脚 站 在 宽 阔 之 处 。
9 耶 和 华 啊 ， 求 你 怜 恤 我 ， 因 为 我 在 急 难 之 中 ； 我 的 眼 睛 因 忧 愁 而 乾 瘪 ， 连 我 的 身 心 也 不 安 舒 。
10 我 的 生 命 为 愁 苦 所 消 耗 ； 我 的 年 岁 为 叹 息 所 旷 废 。 我 的 力 量 因 我 的 罪 孽 衰 败 ； 我 的 骨 头 也 枯 乾 。
11 我 因 一 切 敌 人 成 了 羞 辱 ， 在 我 的 邻 舍 跟 前 更 甚 ； 那 认 识 我 的 都 惧 怕 我 ， 在 外 头 看 见 我 的 都 躲 避 我 。
12 我 被 人 忘 记 ， 如 同 死 人 ， 无 人 记 念 ； 我 好 像 破 碎 的 器 皿 。
13 我 听 见 了 许 多 人 的 谗 谤 ， 四 围 都 是 惊 吓 ； 他 们 一 同 商 议 攻 击 我 的 时 候 ， 就 图 谋 要 害 我 的 性 命 。
14 耶 和 华 啊 ， 我 仍 旧 倚 靠 你 ； 我 说 ： 你 是 我 的 神 。
15 我 终 身 的 事 在 你 手 中 ； 求 你 救 我 脱 离 仇 敌 的 手 和 那 些 逼 迫 我 的 人 。
16 求 你 使 你 的 脸 光 照 仆 人 ， 凭 你 的 慈 爱 拯 救 我 。
17 耶 和 华 啊 ， 求 你 叫 我 不 致 羞 愧 ， 因 为 我 曾 呼 吁 你 ； 求 你 使 恶 人 羞 愧 ， 使 他 们 在 阴 间 缄 默 无 声 。
18 那 撒 谎 的 人 逞 骄 傲 轻 慢 ， 出 狂 妄 的 话 攻 击 义 人 ； 愿 他 的 嘴 哑 而 无 言 。
19 敬 畏 你 、 投 靠 你 的 人 ， 你 为 他 们 所 积 存 的 ， 在 世 人 面 前 所 施 行 的 恩 惠 是 何 等 大 呢 ！
20 你 必 把 他 们 藏 在 你 面 前 的 隐 密 处 ， 免 得 遇 见 人 的 计 谋 ； 你 必 暗 暗 地 保 守 他 们 在 亭 子 里 ， 免 受 口 舌 的 争 闹 。
21 耶 和 华 是 应 当 称 颂 的 ， 因 为 他 在 坚 固 城 里 向 我 施 展 奇 妙 的 慈 爱 。

信靠上帝的祷告
大卫的诗，交给乐长。
31 耶和华啊，我寻求你的庇护，
求你让我永不蒙羞；
你是公义的，求你拯救我。
2 求你侧耳听我的呼求，
快来救我，作我坚固的避难所，
作拯救我的堡垒。
3 你是我的磐石，我的堡垒，
求你为了自己的名而引导我，带领我。
4 你是我的避难所，
求你救我脱离人们为我设下的陷阱。
5 我将灵魂交托给你。
信实的上帝耶和华啊，
你必救赎我。
6 我憎恨拜假神的人，
我信靠耶和华。
7 你已经看见我的困苦，
知道我心中的愁烦，
你的恩慈使我欢喜快乐。
8 你没有将我交给仇敌，
而是领我到宽阔之地。
9 耶和华啊，我落在苦难之中，
求你怜悯我，
我双眼哭肿，身心疲惫。
10 我的生命被愁苦吞噬，
岁月被哀伤耗尽，
力量因罪恶而消逝，
我成了枯骨一堆。
11 仇敌羞辱我，
邻居厌弃我，
朋友害怕我，

18 愿你堵住撒谎之人的口，
他们骄傲自大，
狂妄地攻击义人。
19 你的恩惠何其大——为敬畏你的人而预备，
在世人面前赐给投靠你的人。
20 你把他们藏在你那里，
使他们得到庇护，
免遭世人暗算。
你使他们在你的居所安然无恙，
免受恶言恶语的攻击。
21 耶和华当受称颂！
因为我被困城中时，

Prayer in Distress and Thanksgiving for Escape
1 For the leader. A psalm of David.
I
2 In you, Lord, I take refuge;(A)
let me never be put to shame.
In your righteousness deliver me;
3 incline your ear to me;
make haste to rescue me!
Be my rock of refuge,
a stronghold to save me.
4 For you are my rock and my fortress;(B)
for your name’s sake lead me and guide me.
5 Free me from the net they have set for me,
for you are my refuge.
6 [b]Into your hands I commend my spirit;(C)
you will redeem me, Lord, God of truth.
7 You hate those who serve worthless idols,
but I trust in the Lord.
8 I will rejoice and be glad in your mercy,
once you have seen my misery,
[and] gotten to know the distress of my soul.(D)
9 You will not abandon me into enemy hands,
but will set my feet in a free and open space.

10 Be gracious to me, Lord, for I am in distress;
affliction is wearing down my eyes,
my throat and my insides.
11 My life is worn out by sorrow,
and my years by sighing.
My strength fails in my affliction;
my bones are wearing down.(E)
12 To all my foes I am a thing of scorn,
and especially to my neighbors
a horror to my friends.
When they see me in public,
they quickly shy away.(F)
13 I am forgotten, out of mind like the dead;
I am like a worn-out tool.[c]
14 I hear the whispers of the crowd;
terrors are all around me.[d]
They conspire together against me;
they plot to take my life.
15 But I trust in you, Lord;
I say, “You are my God.”(G)
16 My destiny is in your hands;
rescue me from my enemies,
from the hands of my pursuers.
17 Let your face shine on your servant;(H)
save me in your mercy.
18 Do not let me be put to shame,
for I have called to you, Lord.
Put the wicked to shame;
reduce them to silence in Sheol.
19 Strike dumb their lying lips,
which speak arrogantly against the righteous
in contempt and scorn.(I)

20 How great is your goodness, Lord,
stored up for those who fear you.
You display it for those who trust you,
in the sight of the children of Adam.
21 You hide them in the shelter of your presence,
safe from scheming enemies.
You conceal them in your tent,
away from the strife of tongues.(J)
22 Blessed be the Lord,
marvelously he showed to me
his mercy in a fortified city.
23 Though I had said in my alarm,
“I am cut off from your eyes.”(K)
Yet you heard my voice, my cry for mercy,
when I pleaded with you for help.
24 Love the Lord, all you who are faithful to him.
The Lord protects the loyal,
but repays the arrogant in full.
25 Be strong and take heart,
all who hope in the Lord.

- Psalm 31 A lament (Ps 31:2–19) with a strong emphasis on trust (Ps 31:4, 6, 15–16), ending with an anticipatory thanksgiving (Ps 31:20–24). As is usual in laments, the affliction is couched in general terms. The psalmist feels overwhelmed by evil people but trusts in the “God of truth” (Ps 31:6).
- 31:6 Into your hands I commend my spirit: in Lk 23:46 Jesus breathes his last with this Psalm verse. Stephen in Acts 7:59 alludes to these words as he is attacked by enemies. The verse is used as an antiphon in the Divine Office at Compline, the last prayer of the day.
- 31:13 Like a worn-out tool: a common comparison for something ruined and useless, cf. Is 30:14; Jer 19:11; 22:28.
- 31:14 Terrors are all around me: a cry used in inescapable danger, cf. Jer 6:25; 20:10; 46:5; 49:29.
