生命之道
1 太初，道已经存在，道与上帝同在，道就是上帝。 2 太初，道就与上帝同在。 3 万物都是借着祂造的[a]，受造之物没有一样不是借着祂造的。 4 祂里面有生命，这生命是人类的光。 5 光照进黑暗里，黑暗不能胜过[b]光。
6 有一个人名叫约翰，是上帝差来的。 7 他来是要为光做见证，叫世人可以借着他而相信。 8 约翰不是那光，他来是为那光做见证。 9 那照亮世人的真光来到了世上。 10 祂来到自己所创造的世界，世界却不认识祂。 11 祂来到自己的地方，自己的人却不接纳祂。 12 但所有接纳祂的，就是那些信祂的人，祂就赐给他们权利成为上帝的儿女。 13 这些人既不是从人的血缘关系生的，也不是从人的情欲或意愿生的，而是从上帝生的。
14 道成为肉身，住在我们中间，充满了恩典和真理。我们见过祂的荣耀，正是父独一儿子的荣耀。

施洗者约翰的见证

他说：“不是。”

23 他说：“我就是在旷野大声呼喊‘修直主的路’的那个人，正如以赛亚先知所言。”
24 派来的人当中有几个法利赛人[d]，他们问他： 25 “你既然不是基督，不是以利亚，也不是那位先知，那你为什么给人施洗呢？”
26 约翰答道：“我是用水施洗，但在你们中间有一位你们不认识的， 27 祂虽然是在我以后来的，我就是给祂解鞋带也不配。” 28 这事发生在约旦河东岸的伯大尼，那里是约翰给人施洗的地方。
上帝的羔羊

第一批门徒
35 再次日，约翰和两个门徒站在那里， 36 他看见耶稣经过，就说：“看啊！这是上帝的羔羊！” 37 两个门徒听见他的话，便跟从了耶稣。 38 耶稣转过身来，看见他们跟着，便问：“你们想要什么？”
他们说：“老师[e]，你住在哪里？”
39 耶稣说：“你们来看吧。”他们便跟着去看耶稣住的地方。到了那里大约下午四点了，他们就住在耶稣那里。 40 听见约翰的话后跟从耶稣的两个人中，有一个是西门·彼得的弟弟安得烈。 41 他首先去找他哥哥西门，说：“我们找到弥赛亚了！”弥赛亚的意思是基督[f]。 42 他带着西门去见耶稣。
耶稣看着西门，对他说：“约翰的儿子西门，你要改名为矶法。”矶法的意思是彼得。
43 又过了一天，耶稣决定去加利利。祂遇见了腓力，就对他说：“跟从我！” 44 腓力是伯赛大人，与彼得、安得烈是同乡。 45 腓力去找拿但业，对他说：“我们遇见了摩西律法书和先知书记载的那位！祂是约瑟的儿子耶稣，从拿撒勒来的。”
46 拿但业说：“拿撒勒还会出什么好东西？”
腓力说：“你来看看吧！”
47 耶稣看见拿但业走过来，就指着他说：“看啊，这是个真正的以色列人！他心里毫无诡诈。”
48 拿但业问耶稣：“你怎么会认识我？”
耶稣答道：“腓力还没有去找你之前，我就看见你在无花果树下了。”
49 拿但业说：“老师，你是上帝的儿子！你是以色列的王！”
50 耶稣说：“我说看见你在无花果树下，你就信我吗？将来你还要看见比这更大的事。 51 我实实在在地告诉你们，你们会看见天门敞开，上帝的天使以人子[g]为梯上上下下。”

El Verbo se hizo hombre
1 En el principio ya existía el Verbo,
y el Verbo estaba con Dios,
y el Verbo era Dios.
2 Él estaba con Dios en el principio.
3 Por medio de él todas las cosas fueron creadas;
sin él, nada de lo creado llegó a existir.
4 En él estaba la vida,
y la vida era la luz de la humanidad.
5 Esta luz resplandece en las tinieblas,
y las tinieblas no han podido extinguirla.[a]
6 Vino un hombre llamado Juan. Dios lo envió 7 como testigo para dar testimonio de la luz, a fin de que por medio de él todos creyeran. 8 Juan no era la luz, sino que vino para dar testimonio de la luz. 9 Esa luz verdadera, la que alumbra a todo ser humano, venía a este mundo.[b]
10 El que era la luz ya estaba en el mundo, y el mundo fue creado por medio de él, pero el mundo no lo reconoció. 11 Vino a lo que era suyo, pero los suyos no lo recibieron. 12 Mas a cuantos lo recibieron, a los que creen en su nombre, les dio el derecho de ser hijos de Dios. 13 Estos no nacen de la sangre, ni por deseos naturales, ni por voluntad humana, sino que nacen de Dios.
14 Y el Verbo se hizo hombre y habitó[c] entre nosotros. Y hemos contemplado su gloria, la gloria que corresponde al Hijo unigénito del Padre, lleno de gracia y de verdad.
15 Juan dio testimonio de él, y a voz en grito proclamó: «Este es aquel de quien yo decía: “El que viene después de mí es superior a mí, porque existía antes que yo”». 16 De su plenitud todos hemos recibido gracia sobre gracia, 17 pues la ley fue dada por medio de Moisés, mientras que la gracia y la verdad nos han llegado por medio de Jesucristo. 18 A Dios nadie lo ha visto nunca; el Hijo unigénito, quien es Dios[d] y que vive en unión íntima con el Padre, nos lo ha dado a conocer.
Juan el Bautista niega ser el Cristo
19 Este es el testimonio de Juan cuando los judíos de Jerusalén enviaron sacerdotes y levitas a preguntarle quién era. 20 No se negó a declararlo, sino que confesó con franqueza:
―Yo no soy el Cristo.
21 ―¿Quién eres entonces? —le preguntaron—. ¿Acaso eres Elías?
―No lo soy.
―¿Eres el profeta?
―No lo soy.
22 ―¿Entonces quién eres? ¡Tenemos que llevar una respuesta a los que nos enviaron! ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?
23 ―Yo soy la voz del que grita en el desierto: “Enderezad el camino del Señor”[e] —respondió Juan, con las palabras del profeta Isaías.
24 Algunos que habían sido enviados por los fariseos 25 lo interrogaron:
―Pues, si no eres el Cristo ni Elías ni el profeta, ¿por qué bautizas?
26 ―Yo bautizo con[f] agua, pero entre vosotros hay alguien a quien no conocéis, 27 y que viene detrás de mí, al cual yo no soy digno ni siquiera de desatarle la correa de las sandalias.
28 Todo esto sucedió en Betania, al otro lado del río Jordán, donde Juan estaba bautizando.
Jesús, el Cordero de Dios
29 Al día siguiente Juan vio a Jesús que se acercaba a él, y dijo: «¡Aquí tenéis al Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo! 30 De este hablaba yo cuando dije: “Detrás de mí viene un hombre que es superior a mí, porque existía antes que yo”. 31 Yo ni siquiera lo conocía, pero, para que él se revelara al pueblo de Israel, vine bautizando con agua».
32 Juan declaró: «Vi al Espíritu descender del cielo como una paloma y permanecer sobre él. 33 Yo mismo no lo conocía, pero el que me envió a bautizar con agua me dijo: “Aquel sobre quien veas que el Espíritu desciende y permanece es el que bautiza con el Espíritu Santo”. 34 Yo lo he visto y por eso testifico que este es el Hijo de Dios».
Los primeros discípulos de Jesús(A)
35 Al día siguiente Juan estaba de nuevo allí, con dos de sus discípulos. 36 Al ver a Jesús que pasaba por ahí, dijo:
―¡Aquí tenéis al Cordero de Dios!
37 Cuando los dos discípulos le oyeron decir esto, siguieron a Jesús. 38 Jesús se volvió y, al ver que lo seguían, les preguntó:
―¿Qué buscáis?
―Rabí, ¿dónde te hospedas? (Rabí significa: Maestro).
39 ―Venid a ver —les contestó Jesús.
Ellos fueron, pues, y vieron dónde se hospedaba, y aquel mismo día se quedaron con él. Eran como las cuatro de la tarde.[g]
40 Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, era uno de los dos que, al oír a Juan, habían seguido a Jesús. 41 Andrés encontró primero a su hermano Simón, y le dijo:
―Hemos encontrado al Mesías (es decir, el Cristo).
42 Luego lo llevó a Jesús, quien, mirándolo fijamente, le dijo:
―Tú eres Simón, hijo de Juan. Serás llamado Cefas (es decir, Pedro).
Jesús llama a Felipe y a Natanael
43 Al día siguiente, Jesús decidió salir hacia Galilea. Se encontró con Felipe, y lo llamó:
―Sígueme.
44 Felipe era del pueblo de Betsaida, lo mismo que Andrés y Pedro. 45 Felipe buscó a Natanael y le dijo:
―Hemos encontrado a Jesús de Nazaret, el hijo de José, aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, y de quien escribieron los profetas.
46 ―¡De Nazaret! —replicó Natanael—. ¿Acaso de allí puede salir algo bueno?
―Ven a ver —le contestó Felipe.
47 Cuando Jesús vio que Natanael se le acercaba, comentó:
―Aquí tenéis un verdadero israelita, en quien no hay falsedad.
48 ―¿De qué me conoces? —le preguntó Natanael.
―Antes de que Felipe te llamara, cuando aún estabas bajo la higuera, ya te había visto.
49 ―Rabí, ¡tú eres el Hijo de Dios! ¡Tú eres el Rey de Israel! —declaró Natanael.
50 ―¿Lo crees porque te dije que te vi cuando estabas debajo de la higuera? ¡Vas a ver aun cosas más grandes que estas!
Y añadió:
51 ―Ciertamente os aseguro que veréis el cielo abierto, y a los ángeles de Dios subir y bajar sobre el Hijo del hombre.

The Word Became Flesh
1 (A)In the beginning was (B)the Word, and (C)the Word was with God, and (D)the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 (E)All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 (F)In him was life,[a] and (G)the life was the light of men. 5 (H)The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man (I)sent from God, whose name was (J)John. 7 He came as a (K)witness, to bear witness about the light, (L)that all might believe through him. 8 (M)He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.
9 (N)The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet (O)the world did not know him. 11 He came to (P)his own,[b] and (Q)his own people[c] (R)did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, (S)who believed in his name, (T)he gave the right (U)to become (V)children of God, 13 who (W)were born, (X)not of blood (Y)nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

The Testimony of John the Baptist
19 And this is the (AO)testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, (AP)“Who are you?” 20 (AQ)He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” 21 And they asked him, “What then? (AR)Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you (AS)the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” 22 So they said to him, “Who are you? We need to give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” 23 He said, “I am (AT)the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight[h] the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”
24 (Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.) 25 They asked him, (AU)“Then why are you baptizing, if you are neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?” 26 John answered them, (AV)“I baptize with water, but among you stands one you do not know, 27 even (AW)he who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.” 28 These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
Behold, the Lamb of God
29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, (AX)the Lamb of God, who (AY)takes away the sin (AZ)of the world! 30 This is he of whom I said, (BA)‘After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him, but (BB)for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.” 32 And John (BC)bore witness: (BD)“I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and (BE)it remained on him. 33 I myself did not know him, but (BF)he who sent me to baptize (BG)with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, (BH)this is he who baptizes (BI)with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son[i] of God.”
Jesus Calls the First Disciples
35 The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, 36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, (BJ)the Lamb of God!” 37 The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. 38 Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, (BK)“What are you seeking?” And they said to him, (BL)“Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” 39 He said to them, “Come and you will see.” So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.[j] 40 (BM)One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus[k] was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found (BN)the Messiah” (which means Christ). 42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of (BO)John. You shall be called (BP)Cephas” (which means (BQ)Peter[l]).
Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael
43 (BR)The next day Jesus decided (BS)to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” 44 Now (BT)Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found (BU)Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom (BV)Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus (BW)of Nazareth, (BX)the son of Joseph.” 46 Nathanael said to him, (BY)“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, (BZ)an Israelite indeed, (CA)in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael said to him, “How (CB)do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49 Nathanael answered him, (CC)“Rabbi, (CD)you are the Son of God! You are the (CE)King of Israel!” 50 Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” 51 And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you,[m] you will see (CF)heaven opened, and (CG)the angels of God ascending and descending on (CH)the Son of Man.”
