我們的維護者基督
2 我的孩子們，我寫這些給你們，是要你們不犯罪。如果有人犯了罪，在父的面前我們有一位維護者，就是那義者耶穌基督。 2 他為我們的罪作了贖罪祭，不僅為我們的罪，也為全人類的罪。 3 我們若遵守 神的命令，這樣，就知道我們已經認識他。 4 凡是說“我已經認識他”，卻不遵守他命令的，就是說謊的人，真理就不在他裡面了。 5 然而凡是遵守他的道的，他愛 神的心就的確在他裡面完全了。這樣，我們就知道我們是在 神裡面了。 6 凡說自己是住在他裡面的，就應該照著他所行的去行。
愛弟兄的就是住在光明中
7 親愛的，我寫給你們的，不是一條新命令，而是你們本來就有的舊命令。這舊命令就是你們聽過的道。 8 然而，因為黑暗漸漸消逝，真光已在照耀，我寫給你們的也是一條新命令，這在 神和在你們來說，都是真的。 9 凡是說自己在光明中，卻恨他的弟兄的，他到現在還在黑暗裡。 10 凡是愛弟兄的，就是住在光明中，在光明中他就不會跌倒。 11 凡是恨弟兄的，就是在黑暗裡，也在黑暗裡行事。他不知道往哪裡去，因為黑暗弄瞎了他的眼睛。
12 孩子們，我寫信給你們，
因為你們的罪因著主的名已經得到赦免。
13 父老們，我寫信給你們，
因為你們認識太初就存在的那一位。
青年們，我寫信給你們，
因為你們已經勝過那惡者。
14 孩子們，我寫信給你們，
因為你們認識父。
父老們，我寫信給你們，
因為你們認識太初就存在的那一位。
青年們，我寫信給你們，
因為你們強壯， 神的道在你們心裡，
你們也勝過了那惡者。
15 不要愛世界和世上的東西。人若愛世界，愛父的心就不在他裡面了。 16 原來世上的一切，就如肉體的私慾，眼目的私慾和今生的驕傲，都不是出於父，而是從世界來的。 17 這世界和世上的私慾都要漸漸過去，但那遵行 神旨意的卻存到永遠。
敵基督者否認耶穌是基督
18 孩子們，現在是末世的時候了。你們聽過敵基督者要來，現在已經有不少敵基督起來了；因此我們就知道這是末世的時候了。 19 他們從我們中間離去，這就表明他們是不屬於我們的。其實他們並不屬於我們，如果真的屬於我們，就一定會留在我們中間。 20 你們從那聖者得著膏抹，這是你們都知道的。 21 我寫信給你們，不是因為你們不明白真理，而是因為你們明白，又因為謊言絕不會出於真理的。 22 那麼，誰是說謊的呢？不就是那否認耶穌是基督的嗎？否認父和子的，他就是敵基督的。 23 凡否認子的，就沒有父；承認子的，連父也有了。 24 至於你們，總要把起初所聽見的存記在你們心裡；你們若把起初所聽見的存記在心裡，你們也就住在子和父裡面了。 25 他應許給我們的，就是永遠的生命。
26 我把這些事寫給你們，是指著那些欺騙你們的人說的。 27 你們既然在你們裡面有從主領受的膏抹，就不需要別人教導你們了，因為在一切事上有主的膏抹教導你們；這膏抹是真的，不是假的，你們應該按著他所教導的住在他裡面。
神的兒女就不犯罪
28 孩子們，你們要住在主裡面。這樣，他若顯現，我們就可以坦然無懼；他來的時候，我們也不至慚愧地躲避他了。 29 你們既然曉得 神是公義的，就應當知道所有行公義的都是從他生的。

2 我 小 子 們 哪 ， 我 將 這 些 話 寫 給 你 們 ， 是 要 叫 你 們 不 犯 罪 。 若 有 人 犯 罪 ， 在 父 那 裡 我 們 有 一 位 中 保 ， 就 是 那 義 者 耶 穌 基 督 。
2 他 為 我 們 的 罪 作 了 挽 回 祭 ， 不 是 單 為 我 們 的 罪 ， 也 是 為 普 天 下 人 的 罪 。
3 我 們 若 遵 守 他 的 誡 命 ， 就 曉 得 是 認 識 他 。
4 人 若 說 我 認 識 他 ， 卻 不 遵 守 他 的 誡 命 ， 便 是 說 謊 話 的 ， 真 理 也 不 在 他 心 裡 了 。
5 凡 遵 守 主 道 的 ， 愛 神 的 心 在 他 裡 面 實 在 是 完 全 的 。 從 此 我 們 知 道 我 們 是 在 主 裡 面 。
6 人 若 說 他 住 在 主 裡 面 ， 就 該 自 己 照 主 所 行 的 去 行 。
7 親 愛 的 弟 兄 阿 ， 我 寫 給 你 們 的 ， 不 是 一 條 新 命 令 ， 乃 是 你 們 從 起 初 所 受 的 舊 命 令 ； 這 舊 命 令 就 是 你 們 所 聽 見 的 道 。
8 再 者 ， 我 寫 給 你 們 的 ， 是 一 條 新 命 令 ， 在 主 是 真 的 ， 在 你 們 也 是 真 的 ； 因 為 黑 暗 漸 漸 過 去 ， 真 光 已 經 照 耀 。
9 人 若 說 自 己 在 光 明 中 ， 卻 恨 他 的 弟 兄 ， 他 到 如 今 還 是 在 黑 暗 裡 。
10 愛 弟 兄 的 ， 就 是 住 在 光 明 中 ， 在 他 並 沒 有 絆 跌 的 緣 由 。
11 惟 獨 恨 弟 兄 的 ， 是 在 黑 暗 裡 ， 且 在 黑 暗 裡 行 ， 也 不 知 道 往 那 裡 去 ， 因 為 黑 暗 叫 他 眼 睛 瞎 了 。
12 小 子 們 哪 ， 我 寫 信 給 你 們 ， 因 為 你 們 的 罪 藉 著 主 名 得 了 赦 免 。

15 不 要 愛 世 界 和 世 界 上 的 事 。 人 若 愛 世 界 ， 愛 父 的 心 就 不 在 他 裡 面 了 。
16 因 為 凡 世 界 上 的 事 ， 就 像 肉 體 的 情 慾 ， 眼 目 的 情 慾 ， 並 今 生 的 驕 傲 ， 都 不 是 從 父 來 的 ， 乃 是 從 世 界 來 的 。
17 這 世 界 和 其 上 的 情 慾 都 要 過 去 ， 惟 獨 遵 行 神 旨 意 的 ， 是 永 遠 常 存 。
18 小 子 們 哪 ， 如 今 是 末 時 了 。 你 們 曾 聽 見 說 ， 那 敵 基 督 的 要 來 ； 現 在 已 經 有 好 些 敵 基 督 的 出 來 了 ， 從 此 我 們 就 知 道 如 今 是 末 時 了 。
19 他 們 從 我 們 中 間 出 去 ， 卻 不 是 屬 我 們 的 ； 若 是 屬 我 們 的 ， 就 必 仍 舊 與 我 們 同 在 ； 他 們 出 去 ， 顯 明 都 不 是 屬 我 們 的 。
20 你 們 從 那 聖 者 受 了 恩 膏 ， 並 且 知 道 這 一 切 的 事 （ 或 作 ： 都 有 知 識 ） 。
21 我 寫 信 給 你 們 ， 不 是 因 你 們 不 知 道 真 理 ， 正 是 因 你 們 知 道 ， 並 且 知 道 沒 有 虛 謊 是 從 真 理 出 來 的 。
22 誰 是 說 謊 話 的 呢 ？ 不 是 那 不 認 耶 穌 為 基 督 的 麼 ？ 不 認 父 與 子 的 ， 這 就 是 敵 基 督 的 。
23 凡 不 認 子 的 ， 就 沒 有 父 ； 認 子 的 ， 連 父 也 有 了 。
24 論 到 你 們 ， 務 要 將 那 從 起 初 所 聽 見 的 ， 常 存 在 心 裡 。 若 將 從 起 初 所 聽 見 的 存 在 心 裡 ， 你 們 就 必 住 在 子 裡 面 ， 也 必 住 在 父 裡 面 。
25 主 所 應 許 我 們 的 就 是 永 生 。
26 我 將 這 些 話 寫 給 你 們 ， 是 指 著 那 引 誘 你 們 的 人 說 的 。
27 你 們 從 主 所 受 的 恩 膏 常 存 在 你 們 心 裡 ， 並 不 用 人 教 訓 你 們 ， 自 有 主 的 恩 膏 在 凡 事 上 教 訓 你 們 。 這 恩 膏 是 真 的 ， 不 是 假 的 ； 你 們 要 按 這 恩 膏 的 教 訓 住 在 主 裡 面 。
28 小 子 們 哪 ， 你 們 要 住 在 主 裡 面 。 這 樣 ， 他 若 顯 現 ， 我 們 就 可 以 坦 然 無 懼 ； 當 他 來 的 時 候 ， 在 他 面 前 也 不 至 於 慚 愧 。
29 你 們 若 知 道 他 是 公 義 的 ， 就 知 道 凡 行 公 義 之 人 都 是 他 所 生 的 。

2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
