約伯在 神面前謙卑自己
40 耶和華又對約伯說：
2 “挑剔是非的，怎能與全能者爭辯呢？
責備 神的，回答這個問題吧。”
3 於是約伯回答耶和華說：
4 “我是微小的，可以回答你甚麼呢？
我只好用手掩口。
5 這說了一次，不再回答；
說了二次就不再說。”
耶和華再教訓約伯
6 於是耶和華從旋風中回答約伯說：
7 “你要如勇士束腰，
我要問你，你要告訴我。
8 你怎能廢棄我所審斷的？
怎能定我為有罪，好顯出你自己為義呢？
9 你有 神那樣的膀臂嗎？
你能用他那樣的聲音打雷嗎？
10 你當以莊嚴與尊貴為裝飾，
以尊榮與威嚴為衣服。
11 要倒盡你忿激的怒氣，
觀看所有驕傲的人，使他們降卑。
12 觀看所有驕傲的人，把他制伏，
把惡人踐踏在他們的地方，
13 把他們一起掩藏在塵土裡，
把他們本人捆綁在隱密處。
14 這樣，我就要向你承認，
你的右手能拯救你。
神創造河馬
15 你看看河馬吧，
我造牠像造你一樣，
牠吃草如牛一般。
16 你看，牠的力量在腰間，
牠的能力在肚腹的肌肉上，
17 牠挺直尾巴硬如香柏樹，
牠大腿的筋虬結在一起，
18 牠的骨頭仿佛銅管，
牠的骨幹好像鐵棍。
19 牠在 神所造的事工中居首（“牠在 神所造的事工中居首”直譯作“牠在 神的工作中居首”），
只有創造牠的能使刀劍臨到牠身上。
20 群山為牠生出食物，
田野的百獸都在那裡玩耍。
21 牠躺在蓮葉之下，
躺在蘆葦叢中與泥澤之間；
22 蓮葉的陰影遮蔽牠，
溪旁的白楊樹環繞牠。
23 江河氾濫，牠毫不慌張，
約旦河的水漲到牠的口邊，牠還是安然。
24 牠警覺的時候誰能捉拿牠？
誰能用鐵圈穿牠的鼻子呢？”

40 E o Senhor prosseguiu:
2 “Queres continuar a argumentar com o Todo-Poderoso?
Se pretendes arvorar-te em crítico de Deus,
responde, então, a tudo isto.”
3 Então Job respondeu ao Senhor:
4 “Eu nada valho!
Como poderia eu, alguma vez,
encontrar resposta para essas coisas?
Ponho, antes, a mão na boca e fico em silêncio.
5 Já falei uma vez, mas não repetirei,
ou mesmo duas vezes, porém não insistirei.”
6 O Senhor tornou a dirigir-se a Job, do meio do redemoinho:
7 “Levanta-te, então, como um homem,
deixa-me fazer-te uma pergunta e dá-me uma resposta.
8 Irás desacreditar a minha justiça e condenar-me,
de forma a poderes dizer que és justo?
9 Serás tu tão forte como Deus
e poderás dar voz ao trovão como ele?
10 Pois então, veste os teus trajes de honra;
reveste-te de honra e de esplendor!
11 Dá livre curso à tua ira
e que ela se derrame sobre os altivos.
12 Humilha os orgulhosos, só com um olhar teu;
derruba os ímpios, onde quer que tentem estabelecer-se.
13 Lança-os no pó do chão,
com os rostos virados para a morte.
14 Se puderes fazer tais coisas,
então estarei de acordo contigo,
em como a tua força te poderá salvar.
15 Olha só para aquele monstro, o beemot[a]!
Criei-o como a ti e come apenas erva como um boi!
16 Repara nos seus fortíssimos lombos
e nos músculos do seu ventre.
17 A sua cauda é tão forte como um cedro;
tem os tendões das coxas entretecidos.
18 As vértebras parecem-se com tubos de bronze;
as costelas são como barras de ferro.
19 É um animal imponente, entre toda a criação;
Deus o mantém em respeito com a sua espada.
20 As montanhas oferecem-lhe o melhor que têm para ele comer,
enquanto os outros animais selvagens folgam.
21 Deita-se debaixo dos lótus,
escondido nos canaviais, junto aos pântanos.
22 Os lótus cobrem-no com sua sombra
e os salgueiros do ribeiro cercam-no.
23 Não fica incomodado com a força das correntes dos grandes rios,
nem mesmo quando se trata do Jordão,
na altura das grandes cheias.
24 Ninguém é capaz de o caçar, à sua vista,
nem de lhe pôr uma argola no nariz
e de o levar para outro lado.

2 “Will the one who contends with the Almighty(B) correct him?(C)
Let him who accuses God answer him!”(D)
3 Then Job answered the Lord:
4 “I am unworthy(E)—how can I reply to you?
I put my hand over my mouth.(F)
5 I spoke once, but I have no answer(G)—
twice, but I will say no more.”(H)
6 Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm:(I)
7 “Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.(J)
8 “Would you discredit my justice?(K)
Would you condemn me to justify yourself?(L)
9 Do you have an arm like God’s,(M)
and can your voice(N) thunder like his?(O)
10 Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor,
and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.(P)
11 Unleash the fury of your wrath,(Q)
look at all who are proud and bring them low,(R)
12 look at all who are proud(S) and humble them,(T)
crush(U) the wicked where they stand.
13 Bury them all in the dust together;(V)
shroud their faces in the grave.(W)
14 Then I myself will admit to you
that your own right hand can save you.(X)
15 “Look at Behemoth,
which I made(Y) along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.(Z)
16 What strength(AA) it has in its loins,
what power in the muscles of its belly!(AB)
17 Its tail sways like a cedar;
the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.(AC)
18 Its bones are tubes of bronze,
its limbs(AD) like rods of iron.(AE)
19 It ranks first among the works of God,(AF)
yet its Maker(AG) can approach it with his sword.(AH)
20 The hills bring it their produce,(AI)
and all the wild animals play(AJ) nearby.(AK)
21 Under the lotus plants it lies,
hidden among the reeds(AL) in the marsh.(AM)
22 The lotuses conceal it in their shadow;
the poplars by the stream(AN) surround it.
23 A raging river(AO) does not alarm it;
it is secure, though the Jordan(AP) should surge against its mouth.
24 Can anyone capture it by the eyes,
or trap it and pierce its nose?(AQ)
