亚干犯罪
7 以色列人在当毁灭之物的事上犯了罪。因为犹大支派中谢拉的曾孙、撒底的孙子、迦米的儿子亚干拿了一些本该毁灭的东西，耶和华便向以色列人发怒。
2 当时，约书亚从耶利哥派人去侦察伯特利东边靠近伯·亚文的艾城。 3 他们侦察回来后对约书亚说：“那里的居民很少，我们不必劳师动众派所有的人上去，只要派两三千人上去便可以攻取艾城。” 4 于是，大约有三千以色列人去攻打艾城，不料却被艾城人击溃。 5 艾城的人杀了他们三十六人，从城门前追杀他们，一直到示巴琳，在下坡处杀败他们。以色列人吓得心惊胆战。
6 约书亚和以色列的长老便撕裂衣服，把灰撒在头上，俯伏在耶和华的约柜面前，直到晚上。 7 约书亚说：“唉！主耶和华啊，你让我们过了约旦河，为什么把我们交在亚摩利人手上，让他们毁灭我们呢？倒不如让我们住在约旦河对岸！ 8 主啊，现在以色列人被仇敌打败，我还有什么话可说呢？ 9 迦南人和这一带的人听到这消息以后，必从四面八方来围攻我们，将我们从地上斩尽杀绝。那时候，你的威名又何在呢？”
10 耶和华对约书亚说：“起来吧！你为何俯伏在地？ 11 以色列人犯了罪，违背了我吩咐他们应守的约，偷拿了本该毁灭的东西放在自己的行囊里，还撒谎。 12 所以，以色列人受咒诅，无法抵挡敌人，掉头败逃。你必须将那些本该毁灭的东西从你们中间除掉，不然我就不再与你们同在。 13 起来吧！去吩咐民众洁净自己，让他们为明天洁净自己，因为以色列的上帝耶和华这样说，‘以色列啊！你们中间有本该毁灭的东西，你们不除掉这些东西就无法抵挡敌人。 14 明天早上，你们要按支派一个一个前来，耶和华指出哪个支派，哪支派的各宗族便要前来。耶和华指出哪个宗族，哪宗族的各家族便要前来。耶和华指出哪个家族，哪家族的各成员便要前来。 15 哪个人被指出拿了本该毁灭的东西，哪个人及其所有的东西就要被火焚烧。因为他违背了耶和华的约，在以色列人中做了可耻的事。’”
16 第二天清早，约书亚按照支派召来以色列人，结果抽中犹大支派； 17 他让犹大支派各宗族前来，结果抽中谢拉宗族；他让谢拉宗族前来，结果抽中撒底家族； 18 他让撒底家族的人一个一个前来，结果抽中迦米的儿子亚干。 19 约书亚对亚干说：“孩子啊，我劝你把荣耀归给以色列的上帝耶和华，向祂认罪，把你所做的事告诉我，不要隐瞒。” 20 亚干答道：“我的确得罪了以色列的上帝耶和华。事情是这样的， 21 在夺得的财物中，我看上了一件漂亮的示拿外衣、两千二百克银子和五百五十克金子，我一时贪心便拿去了，藏在我帐篷的地底下，银子就放在衣服下面。”
22 约书亚派人跑到他的帐篷里，果然在那里找到了那件衣服和衣服下面的银子。 23 他们将这些东西带到约书亚和民众那里，摆在耶和华面前。 24 约书亚和全体以色列人把谢拉家族的亚干、那些银子、衣服和金子及其儿女、牛、驴、羊、帐篷和一切所有都带到亚割谷。 25 约书亚对亚干说：“你为什么给我们惹祸呢？今天耶和华要降祸给你。”于是，以色列人便拿石头打死了他和他一切的人畜，将其烧毁。 26 他们在亚干身上堆起一大堆石头，那些石头今天还在。耶和华这才息怒，因此那地方至今还叫亚割[a]谷。

Ang Kasalanan ni Acan
7 Pero nilabag ng mga Israelita ang utos ng Panginoon na huwag kumuha ng kahit anumang handog na nakalaan nang buo para sa Panginoon. Kumuha si Acan ng mga bagay na hindi dapat kunin, kaya nagalit nang matindi ang Panginoon sa kanila. Si Acan ay anak ni Carmi. Si Carmi ay anak ni Zabdi. Si Zabdi ay anak ni Zera. Nagmula sila sa lahi ni Juda.
2 Mula sa Jerico, may inutusan si Josue na mga tao para mag-espiya sa Ai, isang lungsod sa silangan ng Betel, na malapit sa Bet Aven. Kaya umalis ang mga tao para mag-espiya. 3 Pagbalik nila, sinabi nila kay Josue, “Hindi kailangang lumusob tayong lahat sa Ai, dahil kaunti lang naman ang mga naninirahan doon. Magpadala ka lang ng 2,000 o kayaʼy 3,000 tao para lumusob doon.” 4 Kaya 3,000 Israelita ang lumusob sa Ai, pero napaatras sila ng mga taga-Ai. 5 Hinabol sila mula sa pintuan ng lungsod hanggang sa Shebarim[a], at 36 ang napatay sa kanila habang bumababa sila sa kabundukan. Kaya naduwag at natakot ang mga Israelita. 6 Dahil sa lungkot, pinunit ni Josue at ng mga tagapamahala ng Israel ang mga damit nila, at nilagyan ng alikabok ang mga ulo nila, at nagpatirapa sila sa harapan ng Kahon ng Kasunduan ng Panginoon hanggang sa gumabi. 7 Sinabi ni Josue, “O Panginoong Dios, bakit nʼyo pa po kami pinatawid sa Ilog ng Jordan kung ipapatalo nʼyo rin lang naman kami sa mga Amoreo? Mabuti pang nanatili na lang kami sa kabila ng Jordan. 8 Panginoon, ano po ang sasabihin ko, ngayong umurong na ang mga Israelita sa mga kalaban nila? 9 Mababalitaan ito ng mga Cananeo at ng iba pang taga-rito. Paiikutan nila kami at papatayin. Ano po ang gagawin nʼyo alang-alang sa dakila nʼyong pangalan?”
10 Sinabi ng Panginoon kay Josue, “Tumayo ka! Bakit ka ba nakadapa? 11 Nagkasala ang Israel; nilabag nila ang kasunduan ko. Kumuha sila ng mga bagay na nakalaang ihandog nang buo sa akin. Ninakaw nila ito, nagsinungaling sila tungkol dito, at isinama nila ito sa mga ari-arian nila. 12 Ito ang dahilan kung bakit hindi sila makalaban sa mga kaaway nila. Natakot sila at tumakas dahil sila mismo ay lilipulin din bilang handog sa akin. Hindi ko na kayo sasamahan kung hindi ninyo wawasakin ang mga bagay na nakalaang ihandog nang buo sa akin.
13 “Tumayo ka at sabihin mo sa mga tao na linisin nila ang kanilang sarili[b] para bukas, dahil ako, ang Panginoon na Dios ng Israel ay nagsasabi, ‘O Israel, may tinatago kayong mga bagay na nakalaang ihandog nang buo sa akin. Hindi kayo makakalaban sa mga kaaway nʼyo hanggaʼt nasa inyo ang mga bagay na ito. 14 Kaya bukas ng umaga, humarap kayo sa akin ayon sa inyong lahi. Ang lahing ituturo kong nagkasala ay humanay ayon sa angkan nila. Ang angkan na ituturo kong nagkasala ay humanay ayon sa pamilya nila. At ang pamilyang ituturo kong nagkasala ay humanay bawat isa. 15 Ang taong ituturo ko na nagtago ng mga bagay na nakalaang ihandog nang buo sa akin ay susunugin kasama ng pamilya niya at ng lahat ari-arian niya. Dahil nilabag niya ang kasunduan ko at gumawa siya ng kahiya-hiyang bagay sa Israel.’ ”
16 Kinabukasan, maagang pinalapit ni Josue ang mga Israelita ayon sa lahi nila. At napili ang angkan ni Juda. 17 Pinalapit ang lahi ni Juda, at napili ang angkan ni Zera. Pinalapit ang angkan ni Zera at napili ang pamilya ni Zabdi.[c] 18 Pinalapit ang pamilya ni Zabdi at napili si Acan. (Si Acan ay anak ni Carmi. Si Carmi ay anak ni Zabdi. At si Zabdi ay anak ni Zera na mula sa angkan ni Juda.)
19 Sinabi ni Josue kay Acan, “Anak, parangalan mo ang Panginoon, ang Dios ng Israel; magsabi ka ng totoo sa harapan niya. Ano ang ginawa mo? Huwag mo itong ilihim sa akin.”
20 Sumagot si Acan, “Totoong nagkasala ako sa Panginoon, ang Dios ng Israel. Ito po ang ginawa ko: 21 Sa mga bagay na nasamsam natin, may nakita akong isang magandang damit na mula sa Babilonia, pilak na mga dalawang kiloʼt kalahati at isang baretang ginto na may bigat na kalahating kilo. Naakit ako sa mga ito, kaya kinuha ko. Ibinaon ko ito sa lupa sa loob ng tolda ko. Ang pilak ang nasa pinakailalim.”
22 Kaya nagsugo si Josue ng mga tao, at patakbong pumunta ang mga ito sa tolda ni Acan. At nakita nga nila roon ang mga bagay na ibinaon, ang pilak ay nandoon nga sa ilalim nito. 23 Dinala nila ito kay Josue at sa lahat ng mga Israelita, at inilapag sa presensya ng Panginoon.
24 At dinala ni Josue at ng lahat ng mga Israelita si Acan sa Lambak ng Acor,[d] pati ang pilak, damit, isang baretang ginto, ang mga anak niya, mga baka, mga asno, mga tupa, tolda at ang lahat ng ari-arian niya. 25 Sinabi ni Josue kay Acan, “Bakit mo kami ipinahamak? Ngayon, ipapahamak ka rin ng Panginoon.”
Binato ng mga Israelita si Acan hanggang sa mamatay. Binato rin nila ang pamilya niya at sinunog ang lahat ng bangkay at ang kanyang mga ari-arian. 26 Pagkatapos, tinabunan nila si Acan ng mga bato. Nandoon pa ang mga bato hanggang ngayon. At ang lugar na iyon ay tinatawag na Lambak ng Acor hanggang ngayon.
At napawi ang galit ng Panginoon.

Defeat at Ai
7 But the children of Israel [a]committed a (A)trespass regarding the (B)accursed[b] things, for (C)Achan the son of Carmi, the son of [c]Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; so the anger of the Lord burned against the children of Israel.
2 Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the country.” So the men went up and spied out Ai. 3 And they returned to Joshua and said to him, “Do not let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not weary all the people there, for the people of Ai are few.” 4 So about three thousand men went up there from the people, (D)but they fled before the men of Ai. 5 And the men of Ai struck down about thirty-six men, for they chased them from before the gate as far as Shebarim, and struck them down on the descent; therefore (E)the[d] hearts of the people melted and became like water.
6 Then Joshua (F)tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they (G)put dust on their heads. 7 And Joshua said, “Alas, Lord [e]God, (H)why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all—to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan! 8 O Lord, what shall I say when Israel turns its [f]back before its enemies? 9 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear it, and surround us, and (I)cut off our name from the earth. Then (J)what will You do for Your great name?”
The Sin of Achan
10 So the Lord said to Joshua: “Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face? 11 Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. (K)For they have even taken some of the [g]accursed things, and have both stolen and (L)deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff. 12 (M)Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because (N)they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you. 13 Get up, (O)sanctify[h] the people, and say, (P)‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the Lord God of Israel: “There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.” 14 In the morning therefore you shall be brought according to your tribes. And it shall be that the tribe which (Q)the Lord takes shall come according to families; and the family which the Lord takes shall come by households; and the household which the Lord takes shall come man by man. 15 (R)Then it shall be that he who is taken with the accursed thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has (S)transgressed[i] the covenant of the Lord, and because he (T)has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’ ”
16 So Joshua rose early in the morning and brought Israel by their tribes, and the tribe of Judah was taken. 17 He brought the clan of Judah, and he took the family of the Zarhites; and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man, and Zabdi was taken. 18 Then he brought his household man by man, and Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, (U)was taken.
19 Now Joshua said to Achan, “My son, I beg you, (V)give glory to the Lord God of Israel, (W)and make confession to Him, and (X)tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me.”
20 And Achan answered Joshua and said, “Indeed (Y)I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel, and this is what I have done: 21 When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I [j]coveted them and took them. And there they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it.”
22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver under it. 23 And they took them from the midst of the tent, brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the Lord. 24 Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and (Z)all that he had, and they brought them to (AA)the Valley of Achor. 25 And Joshua said, (AB)“Why have you troubled us? The Lord will trouble you this day.” (AC)So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.
26 Then they (AD)raised over him a great heap of stones, still there to this day. So (AE)the Lord turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of that place has been called (AF)the Valley of [k]Achor to this day.
