40 耶 和 華 又 對 約 伯 說 ：
2 強 辯 的 豈 可 與 全 能 者 爭 論 麼 ？ 與 神 辯 駁 的 可 以 回 答 這 些 罷 ！
3 於 是 ， 約 伯 回 答 耶 和 華 說 ：
4 我 是 卑 賤 的 ！ 我 用 甚 麼 回 答 你 呢 ？ 只 好 用 手 摀 口 。
5 我 說 了 一 次 ， 再 不 回 答 ； 說 了 兩 次 ， 就 不 再 說 。
6 於 是 ， 耶 和 華 從 旋 風 中 回 答 約 伯 說 ：
7 你 要 如 勇 士 束 腰 ； 我 問 你 ， 你 可 以 指 示 我 。
8 你 豈 可 廢 棄 我 所 擬 定 的 ？ 豈 可 定 我 有 罪 ， 好 顯 自 己 為 義 麼 ？
9 你 有 神 那 樣 的 膀 臂 麼 ？ 你 能 像 他 發 雷 聲 麼 ？
10 你 要 以 榮 耀 莊 嚴 為 妝 飾 ， 以 尊 榮 威 嚴 為 衣 服 ；
11 要 發 出 你 滿 溢 的 怒 氣 ， 見 一 切 驕 傲 的 人 ， 使 他 降 卑 ；
12 見 一 切 驕 傲 的 人 ， 將 他 制 伏 ， 把 惡 人 踐 踏 在 本 處 ；
13 將 他 們 一 同 隱 藏 在 塵 土 中 ， 把 他 們 的 臉 蒙 蔽 在 隱 密 處 ；
14 我 就 認 你 右 手 能 以 救 自 己 。
15 你 且 觀 看 河 馬 ； 我 造 你 也 造 他 。 他 吃 草 與 牛 一 樣 ；
16 他 的 氣 力 在 腰 間 ， 能 力 在 肚 腹 的 筋 上 。
17 他 搖 動 尾 巴 如 香 柏 樹 ； 他 大 腿 的 筋 互 相 聯 絡 。
18 他 的 骨 頭 好 像 銅 管 ； 他 的 肢 體 彷 彿 鐵 棍 。
19 他 在 神 所 造 的 物 中 為 首 ； 創 造 他 的 給 他 刀 劍 。
20 諸 山 給 他 出 食 物 ， 也 是 百 獸 遊 玩 之 處 。
21 他 伏 在 蓮 葉 之 下 ， 臥 在 蘆 葦 隱 密 處 和 水 窪 子 裡 。
22 蓮 葉 的 陰 涼 遮 蔽 他 ； 溪 旁 的 柳 樹 環 繞 他 。
23 河 水 泛 濫 ， 他 不 發 戰 ； 就 是 約 但 河 的 水 漲 到 他 口 邊 ， 也 是 安 然 。
24 在 他 防 備 的 時 候 ， 誰 能 捉 拿 他 ？ 誰 能 牢 籠 他 穿 他 的 鼻 子 呢 ？

40 耶和华又对约伯说：
2 “强辩者岂可与全能者争论？
与上帝辩驳的人请作出答复。”
3 约伯回答耶和华说：
4 “我这样卑微，怎能答复你？
我只有用手掩口。
5 我说了一次，不能答复；
说了两次，不敢再说。”
6 耶和华从旋风中对约伯说：
7 “你要像勇士一样束腰备战，
我来提问，你来回答。
8 你要推翻我的公义，
归罪于我而自以为义吗？
9 你有上帝那样的臂膀吗？
你能像祂那样发出雷鸣吗？
10 请展示你的荣耀和光辉，
披上你的尊荣和威严；
11 发泄你满腔的怒火，
鉴察骄傲者，贬抑他；
12 鉴察骄傲者，制服他，
将恶人原地践踏；
13 将他们一起埋进尘土，
藏入幽冥。
14 这样，我就承认你的右手能拯救自己。
15 “你看河马，
它和你都是我造的，
它像牛一样吃草。
16 你看它腰间的气力，
它腹部肌肉的力量。
17 它尾巴挺直如香柏树，
大腿的筋紧密相连，
18 骨头如铜管，
四肢像铁棍。
19 它是上帝创造的杰作，
创造主赐给它利刃[a]。
20 群山供应它食物，
百兽在那里玩耍。
21 它躺在莲叶之下，
藏在泥沼的芦苇间，
22 莲叶为它遮荫，
溪畔的柳树环绕它。

24 谁能在它警觉时捕捉它，
或用钩子穿透它的鼻子？

40 The Lord said to Job:(A)
2 “Will the one who contends with the Almighty(B) correct him?(C)
Let him who accuses God answer him!”(D)
3 Then Job answered the Lord:
4 “I am unworthy(E)—how can I reply to you?
I put my hand over my mouth.(F)
5 I spoke once, but I have no answer(G)—
twice, but I will say no more.”(H)
6 Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm:(I)
7 “Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.(J)
8 “Would you discredit my justice?(K)
Would you condemn me to justify yourself?(L)
9 Do you have an arm like God’s,(M)
and can your voice(N) thunder like his?(O)
10 Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor,
and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.(P)
11 Unleash the fury of your wrath,(Q)
look at all who are proud and bring them low,(R)
12 look at all who are proud(S) and humble them,(T)
crush(U) the wicked where they stand.
13 Bury them all in the dust together;(V)
shroud their faces in the grave.(W)
14 Then I myself will admit to you
that your own right hand can save you.(X)
15 “Look at Behemoth,
which I made(Y) along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.(Z)
16 What strength(AA) it has in its loins,
what power in the muscles of its belly!(AB)
17 Its tail sways like a cedar;
the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.(AC)
18 Its bones are tubes of bronze,
its limbs(AD) like rods of iron.(AE)
19 It ranks first among the works of God,(AF)
yet its Maker(AG) can approach it with his sword.(AH)
20 The hills bring it their produce,(AI)
and all the wild animals play(AJ) nearby.(AK)
21 Under the lotus plants it lies,
hidden among the reeds(AL) in the marsh.(AM)
22 The lotuses conceal it in their shadow;
the poplars by the stream(AN) surround it.
23 A raging river(AO) does not alarm it;
it is secure, though the Jordan(AP) should surge against its mouth.
24 Can anyone capture it by the eyes,
or trap it and pierce its nose?(AQ)

40 Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said,
2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
3 Then Job answered the Lord, and said,
4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
6 Then answered the Lord unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
9 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
13 Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
14 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
