耶穌的弟弟不信祂
7 之後，耶穌周遊加利利，不願去猶太地區，因為猶太人想要殺祂。 2 猶太人的住棚節快到了， 3 耶穌的弟弟們對祂說：「離開這裡，去猶太過節吧，好讓你的門徒在那裡也看見你所做的啊！ 4 因為人想出名，都不會暗地裡行事，你既然可以做這些事，就把自己顯給世人看吧！」 5 原來連祂的弟弟們也不信祂。
6 耶穌對他們說：「我的時候還沒有到，你們什麼時候都很方便。 7 世人不會恨你們，只會恨我，因為我指證他們行為邪惡。 8 你們先去過節吧，我現在還不上去，因為我的時候還沒有到。」 9 耶穌說完這些話，仍留在加利利。
耶穌過住棚節
10 他們走了以後，耶穌避開了人們的注意，暗地裡上去過節。 11 節期到了，猶太人到處查問：「耶穌在哪裡？」
12 眾人對祂議論紛紛，有些人說：「祂是好人，」有些說：「不，祂欺騙民眾。」 13 不過，沒有人敢公開議論祂的事，因為害怕猶太人。
14 節期約過了一半，耶穌來到聖殿教導人。 15 猶太人感到驚奇，說：「這個人沒有受過教育，怎麼懂得這麼多呢？」
16 耶穌說：「我的教導不是出於我自己，而是出於差我來的那位。 17 如果你們願意遵行上帝的旨意，就能分辨這些教導是出於上帝，還是出於我自己。 18 憑自己講論的人是要尋求自己的榮耀，但人子真實無偽，毫無不義，祂是為了使差祂來的那位得榮耀。 19 摩西不是把律法傳給了你們嗎？你們卻沒有一個人遵守。為什麼想要殺我呢？」
20 眾人回答說：「你一定是被鬼附身了！誰要殺你啊？」
21 耶穌說：「我行了一件神蹟，你們都感到驚奇。 22 摩西把割禮傳給你們，你們也在安息日行割禮。其實割禮不是摩西定的，而是從祖先們的時代就有了。 23 為了避免違背摩西的律法，行割禮的那一天就算是安息日，你們還是照行。那麼，我在安息日使一個病人完全康復，你們為什麼責怪我呢？ 24 不要根據外表來斷定是非，要按公義的原則判斷。」
耶穌是基督嗎
25 有些住在耶路撒冷的人說：「這不是他們要殺的那個人嗎？ 26 你看祂這樣公開講道，居然沒有人說什麼，難道官長也真的認為祂是基督嗎？ 27 可是基督來的時候，根本沒有人知道祂從哪裡來，我們卻知道這個人是從哪裡來的。」
28 於是，耶穌在聖殿裡高聲教導人說：「你們知道我是誰，也知道我是從哪裡來的。其實我來不是出於自己的意思，差我來的那位是真實的，你們不認識祂。 29 但我認識祂，因為我是從祂那裡來的，差我來的就是祂。」 30 他們聽了，想捉拿耶穌，只是沒有人下手，因為祂的時候還沒有到。
31 人群中有許多人信了耶穌，他們說：「基督來的時候所行的神蹟，難道會比這個人行得更多嗎？」
32 法利賽人聽見眾人這樣議論耶穌，就聯合祭司長派差役去抓祂。 33 耶穌對眾人說：「我暫時還會跟你們在一起，不久我要回到差我來的那位那裡。 34 那時你們要找我卻找不到，你們也不能去我所在的地方。」
35 猶太人彼此議論說：「祂要去哪裡使我們找不著呢？難道祂要到我們猶太人僑居的希臘各地去教導希臘人嗎？ 36 祂說我們找不到祂，又不能去祂所在的地方，是什麼意思？」
活水的江河
37 節期最後一天，也是整個節期的高潮，耶穌站起來高聲說：「人若渴了，可以到我這裡來喝。 38 正如聖經所言，信我的人，『從他裡面要流出活水的江河來』。」 39 耶穌這話是指信祂的人要得到聖靈，但當時聖靈還沒有降臨，因為耶穌還沒有得到榮耀。
40 聽見這些話後，有些人說：「祂真是那位先知。」 41 也有些人說：「祂是基督。」還有些人說：「不會吧，基督怎麼會出自加利利呢？ 42 聖經上不是說基督是大衛的後裔，要降生在大衛的故鄉伯利恆嗎？」 43 眾人因為對耶穌的看法不同，就起了紛爭。 44 有些人想抓祂，只是沒有人下手。
猶太官長不信耶穌
45 祭司長和法利賽人看見差役空手回來，就問：「你們為什麼不把祂帶來呢？」
46 差役答道：「從未有人像祂那樣說話！」
47 法利賽人說：「難道你們也被祂迷惑了嗎？ 48 哪有官長和法利賽人信祂呢？ 49 這群不明白律法的民眾該受咒詛！」
50 曾經夜訪耶穌、屬於他們當中一員的尼哥德慕說： 51 「難道不聽被告申辯，不查明事實真相，我們的律法就定祂的罪嗎？」
52 他們回答說：「難道你也是加利利人嗎？你去查查看，就會知道沒有先知是從加利利來的。」

7 După aceea, Isus a călătorit prin Galileea. Nu voia să călătorească prin Iudeea, pentru că iudeii căutau să-L omoare. 2 Sărbătoarea iudeilor, cea a Corturilor[a], era aproape. 3 Prin urmare, fraţii Lui I-au zis:
– Pleacă de aici şi du-te în Iudeea, ca să vadă şi ucenicii Tăi lucrările pe care le faci! 4 Căci nimeni nu face ceva pe ascuns când caută să devină cunoscut! Dacă faci aceste lucruri, arată-Te lumii!
5 Căci nici chiar fraţii Lui nu credeau în El. 6 Isus le-a răspuns:
– Timpul Meu n-a sosit încă, dar vouă timpul vă este totdeauna favorabil! 7 Pe voi lumea nu vă poate urî, dar pe Mine Mă urăşte, pentru că Eu depun mărturie despre ea că lucrările ei sunt rele. 8 Duceţi-vă voi la sărbătoare; Eu (încă)[b] nu Mă duc la sărbătoarea aceasta, pentru că timpul Meu încă n-a sosit pe deplin.
9 Şi, spunând aceste lucruri, a rămas în Galileea. 10 Însă după ce fraţii Lui au plecat la sărbătoare, S-a dus şi El, dar nu pe faţă, ci cam pe ascuns. 11 La sărbătoare, iudeii Îl căutau şi se întrebau: „Unde este Acela?“ 12 Erau multe şoapte[c] în mulţime cu privire la El. Unii ziceau: „Este un om bun!“ Alţii ziceau: „Nu, ci duce în rătăcire mulţimea!“ 13 Totuşi, de frica iudeilor, nimeni nu vorbea deschis despre El.
Isus la Sărbătoarea Corturilor
14 Când sărbătoarea era deja la jumătate, Isus S-a dus în Templu şi a început să dea învăţătură. 15 Iudeii se mirau şi se întrebau: „Cum de ştie Acesta atâta învăţătură fără să fi învăţat?!“
16 Isus le-a zis:
– Învăţătura Mea nu este a Mea, ci a Celui Ce M-a trimis. 17 Dacă vrea cineva să facă voia Lui, va cunoaşte dacă învăţătura este de la Dumnezeu sau dacă Eu vorbesc de la Mine. 18 Cel ce vorbeşte de la el caută slava lui însuşi; dar cel ce caută slava celui ce l-a trimis, acela este adevărat şi în el nu este falsitate. 19 Oare nu v-a dat Moise Legea? Şi totuşi nici unul dintre voi nu respectă Legea! De ce căutaţi să Mă omorâţi?
20 Mulţimea I-a răspuns:
– Ai demon! Cine caută să Te omoare?!
21 Isus le-a zis:
– Am făcut o lucrare şi toţi vă miraţi. 22 Moise v-a dat circumcizia – nu că ea este de la Moise, ci de la patriarhi – şi voi îl circumcideţi pe om în ziua de Sabat. 23 Dacă un om este circumcis în ziua de Sabat, ca să nu fie încălcată Legea lui Moise, atunci de ce sunteţi furioşi pe Mine pentru că am însănătoşit un om întreg în ziua de Sabat? 24 Nu judecaţi după aparenţe, ci judecaţi cu o judecată dreaptă!
Oamenii se întreabă dacă Isus este Cristosul
25 Atunci unii dintre locuitorii Ierusalimului au zis: „Nu este Acesta Cel pe Care caută ei să-L omoare? 26 Şi iată că vorbeşte deschis, iar ei nu-I zic nimic! Nu cumva conducătorii au ajuns să cunoască într-adevăr că El este Cristosul? 27 Totuşi noi ştim de unde este Omul Acesta; însă când va veni Cristosul nimeni nu va şti de unde este!“[d] 28 Atunci Isus, în timp ce dădea învăţătură în Templu, a strigat: „Mă cunoaşteţi şi ştiţi de unde sunt![e] N-am venit de la Mine Însumi, ci Cel Ce M-a trimis este adevărat, iar voi nu-L cunoaşteţi! 29 Eu Îl cunosc, pentru că Eu sunt de la El şi El M-a trimis.“ 30 Ei încercau să-L prindă, dar nimeni n-a pus mâna pe El, căci încă nu-I venise ceasul. 31 Însă mulţi din mulţime au crezut în El şi ziceau: „Când va veni Cristosul, va face El mai multe semne decât a făcut Acesta?“
32 Fariseii au auzit mulţimea murmurând aceste lucruri despre El şi, ca urmare, conducătorii preoţilor şi fariseii au trimis nişte gărzi să-L aresteze. 33 Atunci, Isus a zis: „Mai sunt cu voi încă puţin timp, iar apoi plec la Cel Ce M-a trimis. 34 Mă veţi căuta, dar nu Mă veţi găsi, iar unde voi fi Eu, voi nu puteţi veni.“ 35 Iudeii se întrebau: „Unde urmează să se ducă Acesta, astfel încât noi să nu-L găsim?! Doar nu urmează să se ducă la cei împrăştiaţi printre greci şi să-i înveţe pe greci?! 36 Ce înseamnă cuvintele acestea pe care le-a zis: «Mă veţi căuta, dar nu Mă veţi găsi, iar unde voi fi Eu, voi nu veţi putea veni.»?“
Isus, Apa vieţii
37 În ultima zi a sărbătorii, ziua cea mare, Isus S-a ridicat şi a strigat: „Dacă însetează cineva, să vină la Mine şi să bea! 38 Cel ce crede în Mine, din inima lui vor curge râuri de apă vie, aşa cum zice Scriptura!“[f] 39 Spunea aceasta despre Duhul pe Care urmau să-L primească cei ce cred în El. Căci Duhul nu fusese încă dat, pentru că Isus nu fusese încă proslăvit.
40 Când au auzit aceste cuvinte, unii din mulţime ziceau: „Acesta este într-adevăr Profetul!“ 41 Alţii ziceau: „Acesta este Cristosul!“, iar alţii ziceau: „Cum, din Galileea va veni Cristosul?! 42 Nu spune Scriptura că Cristosul va veni din sămânţa lui David[g] şi din Betleem[h], satul de unde era David?“ 43 Aşa că s-a făcut dezbinare în mulţime din cauza Lui. 44 Unii dintre ei voiau să-L prindă, însă nimeni n-a pus mâinile pe El.
Necredinţa conducătorilor religioşi
45 Gărzile s-au întors la conducătorii preoţilor şi la farisei, iar aceştia le-au întrebat:
– De ce nu L-aţi adus?
46 Gărzile au răspuns:
– Niciodată n-a vorbit cineva astfel!
47 Fariseii le-au zis:
– Nu cumva aţi fost duşi şi voi în rătăcire?! 48 A crezut în El vreunul dintre conducători sau dintre farisei?! 49 Însă mulţimea aceasta care nu cunoaşte Legea este blestemată!
50 Nicodim, cel care venise la Isus mai înainte şi care era unul dintre ei, le-a zis:
51 – Oare condamnă Legea noastră un om înainte să-l asculte şi să ştie ce face?
52 Ei i-au răspuns:
– Nu cumva eşti şi tu din Galileea? Cercetează şi vei vedea că din Galileea nu se ridică niciodată vreun profet[i]!

Jesus’ Brothers Disbelieve
7 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, (A)because the [a]Jews sought to kill Him. 2 (B)Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. 3 (C)His brothers therefore said to Him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing. 4 For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.” 5 For (D)even His (E)brothers did not believe in Him.
6 Then Jesus said to them, (F)“My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready. 7 (G)The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me (H)because I testify of it that its works are evil. 8 You go up to this feast. I am not [b]yet going up to this feast, (I)for My time has not yet fully come.” 9 When He had said these things to them, He remained in Galilee.
The Heavenly Scholar
10 But when His brothers had gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. 11 Then (J)the Jews sought Him at the feast, and said, “Where is He?” 12 And (K)there was much complaining among the people concerning Him. (L)Some said, “He is good”; others said, “No, on the contrary, He deceives the people.” 13 However, no one spoke openly of Him (M)for fear of the Jews.
14 Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and (N)taught. 15 (O)And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”
16 [c]Jesus answered them and said, (P)“My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 (Q)If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. 18 (R)He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who (S)seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and (T)no unrighteousness is in Him. 19 (U)Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law? (V)Why do you seek to kill Me?”
20 The people answered and said, (W)“You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?”
21 Jesus answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you all marvel. 22 (X)Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, (Y)but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. 23 If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because (Z)I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? 24 (AA)Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
Could This Be the Christ?
25 Now some of them from Jerusalem said, “Is this not He whom they seek to (AB)kill? 26 But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. (AC)Do the rulers know indeed that this is [d]truly the Christ? 27 (AD)However, we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from.”
28 Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, (AE)“You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and (AF)I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me (AG)is true, (AH)whom you do not know. 29 [e]But (AI)I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.”
30 Therefore (AJ)they sought to take Him; but (AK)no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. 31 And (AL)many of the people believed in Him, and said, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?”
Jesus and the Religious Leaders
32 The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him. 33 Then Jesus said [f]to them, (AM)“I shall be with you a little while longer, and then I (AN)go to Him who sent Me. 34 You (AO)will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you (AP)cannot come.”
35 Then the Jews said among themselves, “Where does He intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to (AQ)the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? 36 What is this thing that He said, ‘You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come’?”
The Promise of the Holy Spirit
37 (AR)On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, (AS)“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 (AT)He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, (AU)out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 (AV)But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those [g]believing in Him would receive; for the [h]Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet (AW)glorified.
Who Is He?
40 Therefore [i]many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is (AX)the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “This is (AY)the Christ.”
But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? 42 (AZ)Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, (BA)where David was?” 43 So (BB)there was a division among the people because of Him. 44 Now (BC)some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
Rejected by the Authorities
45 Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why have you not brought Him?”
46 The officers answered, (BD)“No man ever spoke like this Man!”
47 Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived? 48 Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? 49 But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”
50 Nicodemus (BE)(he who came to [j]Jesus [k]by night, being one of them) said to them, 51 (BF)“Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”
52 They answered and said to him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for (BG)no prophet [l]has arisen out of Galilee.”
An Adulteress Faces the Light of the World
