41 “你能用鱼钩钓上鳄鱼吗？能用绳子压下它的舌头吗？ 2 你能用绳索穿它的鼻子吗？能用钩穿它的腮骨吗？ 3 它岂向你连连恳求，说柔和的话吗？ 4 岂肯与你立约，使你拿它永远做奴仆吗？ 5 你岂可拿它当雀鸟玩耍吗？岂可为你的幼女将它拴住吗？ 6 搭伙的渔夫岂可拿它当货物吗？能把它分给商人吗？ 7 你能用倒钩枪扎满它的皮，能用鱼叉叉满它的头吗？ 8 你按手在它身上，想与它争战，就不再这样行吧。 9 人指望捉拿它是徒然的，一见它，岂不丧胆吗？ 10 没有那么凶猛的人敢惹它。这样，谁能在我面前站立得住呢？ 11 谁先给我什么，使我偿还呢？天下万物都是我的。

耶和华责其三友
7 耶和华对约伯说话以后，就对提幔人以利法说：“我的怒气向你和你两个朋友发作，因为你们议论我，不如我的仆人约伯说的是。 8 现在你们要取七只公牛、七只公羊，到我仆人约伯那里去，为自己献上燔祭，我的仆人约伯就为你们祈祷。我因悦纳他，就不按你们的愚妄办你们。你们议论我，不如我的仆人约伯说的是。” 9 于是提幔人以利法、书亚人比勒达、拿玛人琐法照着耶和华所吩咐的去行，耶和华就悦纳约伯。
赐福约伯较昔维倍
10 约伯为他的朋友祈祷，耶和华就使约伯从苦境[c]转回，并且耶和华赐给他的，比他从前所有的加倍。 11 约伯的弟兄姐妹和以先所认识的人都来见他，在他家里一同吃饭，又论到耶和华所降于他的一切灾祸，都为他悲伤安慰他，每人也送他一块银子和一个金环。 12 这样，耶和华后来赐福给约伯比先前更多。他有一万四千羊，六千骆驼，一千对牛，一千母驴。 13 他也有七个儿子，三个女儿。 14 他给长女起名叫耶米玛，次女叫基洗亚，三女叫基连哈朴。 15 在那全地的妇女中，找不着像约伯的女儿那样美貌。她们的父亲使她们在弟兄中得产业。

41 [a]“Can you pull in Leviathan(A) with a fishhook(B)
or tie down its tongue with a rope?
2 Can you put a cord through its nose(C)
or pierce its jaw with a hook?(D)
3 Will it keep begging you for mercy?(E)
Will it speak to you with gentle words?
4 Will it make an agreement with you
for you to take it as your slave for life?(F)
5 Can you make a pet of it like a bird
or put it on a leash for the young women in your house?
6 Will traders barter for it?
Will they divide it up among the merchants?
7 Can you fill its hide with harpoons
or its head with fishing spears?(G)
8 If you lay a hand on it,
you will remember the struggle and never do it again!(H)
9 Any hope of subduing it is false;
the mere sight of it is overpowering.(I)
10 No one is fierce enough to rouse it.(J)
Who then is able to stand against me?(K)
11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay?(L)
Everything under heaven belongs to me.(M)
12 “I will not fail to speak of Leviathan’s limbs,(N)
its strength(O) and its graceful form.
13 Who can strip off its outer coat?
Who can penetrate its double coat of armor[b]?(P)
14 Who dares open the doors of its mouth,(Q)
ringed about with fearsome teeth?
15 Its back has[c] rows of shields
tightly sealed together;(R)
16 each is so close to the next
that no air can pass between.
17 They are joined fast to one another;
they cling together and cannot be parted.
18 Its snorting throws out flashes of light;
its eyes are like the rays of dawn.(S)
19 Flames(T) stream from its mouth;
sparks of fire shoot out.
20 Smoke pours from its nostrils(U)
as from a boiling pot over burning reeds.
21 Its breath(V) sets coals ablaze,
and flames dart from its mouth.(W)
22 Strength(X) resides in its neck;
dismay goes before it.
23 The folds of its flesh are tightly joined;
they are firm and immovable.
24 Its chest is hard as rock,
hard as a lower millstone.(Y)
25 When it rises up, the mighty are terrified;(Z)

26 The sword that reaches it has no effect,
nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.(AB)
27 Iron it treats like straw(AC)
and bronze like rotten wood.

slingstones are like chaff to it.
29 A club seems to it but a piece of straw;(AE)
it laughs(AF) at the rattling of the lance.
30 Its undersides are jagged potsherds,

31 It makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron(AH)
and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.(AI)
32 It leaves a glistening wake behind it;
one would think the deep had white hair.

a creature without fear.

Job
42 Then Job replied to the Lord:
2 “I know that you can do all things;(AM)
no purpose of yours can be thwarted.(AN)
3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’(AO)
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.(AP)
4 “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.’(AQ)
5 My ears had heard of you(AR)
but now my eyes have seen you.(AS)
6 Therefore I despise myself(AT)
and repent(AU) in dust and ashes.”(AV)
Epilogue
7 After the Lord had said these things to Job(AW), he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends,(AX) because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.(AY) 8 So now take seven bulls and seven rams(AZ) and go to my servant Job(BA) and sacrifice a burnt offering(BB) for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer(BC) and not deal with you according to your folly.(BD) You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”(BE) 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite(BF) did what the Lord told them; and the Lord accepted Job’s prayer.(BG)
10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes(BH) and gave him twice as much as he had before.(BI) 11 All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before(BJ) came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the Lord had brought on him,(BK) and each one gave him a piece of silver[d] and a gold ring.
12 The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. 13 And he also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch. 15 Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.
16 After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. 17 And so Job died, an old man and full of years.(BL)

41 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?
4 Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
8 Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?
14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
42 Then Job answered the Lord, and said,
2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
7 And it was so, that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the Lord commanded them: the Lord also accepted Job.
10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.

31 他们说：“当信主耶稣，你和你一家都必得救。” 32 他们就把主的道讲给他和他全家的人听。 33 当夜，就在那时候，禁卒把他们带去，洗他们的伤，他和属乎他的人立时都受了洗。 34 于是禁卒领他们上自己家里去，给他们摆上饭，他和全家因为信了神都很喜乐。

35 到了天亮，官长打发差役来，说：“释放那两个人吧！” 36 禁卒就把这话告诉保罗说：“官长打发人来叫释放你们。如今可以出监，平平安安地去吧！” 37 保罗却说：“我们是罗马人，并没有定罪，他们就在众人面前打了我们，又把我们下在监里。现在要私下撵我们出去吗？这是不行的。叫他们自己来领我们出去吧！” 38 差役把这话回禀官长。官长听见他们是罗马人，就害怕了， 39 于是来劝他们，领他们出来，请他们离开那城。 40 二人出了监，往吕底亚家里去，见了弟兄们，劝慰他们一番，就走了。

22 The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten with rods.(A) 23 After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer(B) was commanded to guard them carefully. 24 When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.(C)
25 About midnight(D) Paul and Silas(E) were praying and singing hymns(F) to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken.(G) At once all the prison doors flew open,(H) and everyone’s chains came loose.(I) 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped.(J) 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”
29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas.(K) 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”(L)
31 They replied, “Believe(M) in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved(N)—you and your household.”(O) 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night(P) the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.(Q) 34 The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he(R) was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.
35 When it was daylight, the magistrates sent their officers to the jailer with the order: “Release those men.” 36 The jailer(S) told Paul, “The magistrates have ordered that you and Silas be released. Now you can leave. Go in peace.”(T)
37 But Paul said to the officers: “They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens,(U) and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out.”
38 The officers reported this to the magistrates, and when they heard that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens, they were alarmed.(V) 39 They came to appease them and escorted them from the prison, requesting them to leave the city.(W) 40 After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia’s house,(X) where they met with the brothers and sisters(Y) and encouraged them. Then they left.

23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
35 And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.
36 And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.
37 But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.
38 And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans.
39 And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.
40 And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.
