39 「你知道野山羊何時生產嗎？
你看過母鹿產仔嗎？
2 你能算出牠們懷胎的月數嗎？
你知道牠們分娩的日期嗎？
3 牠們幾時屈身產仔，
結束分娩之痛？
4 幼仔健壯，在荒野長大，
離群而去，不再回來。
5 「誰讓野驢逍遙自在？
誰解開了牠的韁繩？
6 我使牠以曠野為家，
以鹽地作居所。
7 牠嗤笑城邑的喧鬧，
不聽趕牲口的吆喝。
8 牠以群山作草場，
尋找青翠之物。
9 「野牛豈肯為你效勞，
在你的槽旁過夜？
10 你豈能用韁繩把野牛牽到犁溝？
牠豈肯跟著你在山谷耕地？
11 你豈能倚靠牠的大力，
把你的重活交給牠？
12 豈能靠牠運回糧食，
替你堆聚到麥場？
13 「鴕鳥歡然拍動翅膀，
牠豈有白鸛的翎羽？
14 牠將蛋產在地上，
使蛋得到沙土的溫暖，
15 卻不知蛋會被踩碎，
或遭野獸踐踏。
16 牠苛待雛鳥，好像牠們並非己出，
就算徒勞一場，牠也不怕。
17 因為上帝未賜牠智慧，
沒有給牠悟性。
18 然而，一旦牠展翅奔跑，
必嗤笑馬兒和騎士。
19 「馬的力量豈是你賜的？
牠頸上的鬃毛豈是你披的？
20 豈是你使牠跳躍如蝗蟲，
發出令人膽寒的長嘶？
21 牠在谷中刨地，
炫耀力量，奮力衝向敵軍。
22 牠嘲笑恐懼，毫不害怕，
不因刀劍而退縮。
23 牠背上的箭袋錚錚作響，
長矛和投槍閃閃發光。
24 角聲一響，牠便無法靜立，
狂烈地顫抖，急於馳騁大地。
25 聽到角聲，牠就發出長嘶，
牠老遠便嗅到戰爭的氣味，
並聽見吶喊和將領的號令。
26 「鷹隼展翅翱翔，飛往南方，
豈是靠你的智慧？
27 禿鷹騰飛，在高處搭窩，
豈是奉你的命令？
28 牠居住在懸崖上，
盤踞在山岩峭壁，
29 牠從那裡搜尋獵物，
牠的目光直達遠方。
30 牠的幼雛噬血，
哪裡有屍體，牠就在哪裡。」

Видел ли ты, как рожают детёнышей лани?
2 Считаешь ли, сколько месяцев они носят плод?
Знаешь ли время их родов?
3 Они, приседая, рожают приплод,
освобождаясь от бремени.
4 В полях набираются сил их детёныши;
потом уходят и не возвращаются к ним.
5 Кто дал волю диким ослам?
Кто развязал их узы?
6 Я назначил их домом степь
и жилищем – солончаки.
7 Над шумом городским смеются они
и не слышат криков погонщика.
8 По горам они ищут пищу,
и всякой зелени рады.
9 Согласится ли дикий бык тебе служить?
Станет ли в стойле твоём ночевать?
10 Привяжешь ли его верёвкой к плугу,
чтобы он боронил за тобой поле?
11 Понадеешься ли на силу его
и доверишь ли труд свой ему?
12 Поверишь ли ты, что привезёт он твоё зерно
и сложит его на гумне?
13 Весело хлопает страус крыльями,
но они не сравнятся с перьями и пухом аиста.
14 Его самка на землю яйца свои кладёт;
оставляет их греться в горячем песке,
15 забыв, что нога может их раздавить
и дикий зверь – растоптать.
16 Жесток он к своим птенцам, словно к чужим,
не боится, что труд его будет напрасен,
17 потому что Аллах обделил его мудростью
и здравого разума не дал.
18 Но когда он поднимется и помчится,
конь и всадник ему смешны.
19 Ты ли дал коню силу,
шею гривой покрыл,
20 заставил его прыгать, как саранча?
Гордый храп его страшен.
21 Он бьёт по земле копытом, радуясь силе,
и мчится навстречу битве.
22 Он смеётся над страхом и не робеет;
он не дрогнет перед мечом.
23 Звенит на боку у него колчан,
сверкают копьё и дротик.
24 В порыве ярости бросается в галоп,
не сдержать его при трубном зове.
25 При звуке рога ржёт конь;
издалека чует битву,
крик воевод и клич боевой.
26 Твоей ли мудростью парит ястреб,
крылья свои простирая к югу?
27 По твоей ли воле орёл взмывает
и строит гнездо своё на высоте?
28 Он живёт на скале и ночь там проводит;
его твердыня – горный утёс.
29 Там он высматривает добычу;
глаза его видят её издалека.
30 Кровь пьют его птенцы;
где труп, там и он.
Вечный призывает Аюба отвечать
31 Вечный сказал Аюбу:
32 – Тебе ли, спорщик, наставлять Всемогущего?
Ответь Аллаху, обвинитель!
33 Тогда Аюб ответил Вечному:
34 – Я столь ничтожен – как я Тебе отвечу?
Руку свою молча кладу на уста.
35 Я говорил однажды – больше не буду продолжать,
говорил дважды – но теперь умолкну.

39 “Do you know when the mountain goats(A) give birth?
Do you watch when the doe bears her fawn?(B)
2 Do you count the months till they bear?
Do you know the time they give birth?(C)
3 They crouch down and bring forth their young;
their labor pains are ended.
4 Their young thrive and grow strong in the wilds;
they leave and do not return.
5 “Who let the wild donkey(D) go free?
Who untied its ropes?
6 I gave it the wasteland(E) as its home,
the salt flats(F) as its habitat.(G)
7 It laughs(H) at the commotion in the town;
it does not hear a driver’s shout.(I)
8 It ranges the hills(J) for its pasture
and searches for any green thing.
9 “Will the wild ox(K) consent to serve you?(L)
Will it stay by your manger(M) at night?
10 Can you hold it to the furrow with a harness?(N)
Will it till the valleys behind you?
11 Will you rely on it for its great strength?(O)
Will you leave your heavy work to it?
12 Can you trust it to haul in your grain
and bring it to your threshing floor?
13 “The wings of the ostrich flap joyfully,
though they cannot compare
with the wings and feathers of the stork.(P)
14 She lays her eggs on the ground
and lets them warm in the sand,
15 unmindful that a foot may crush them,
that some wild animal may trample them.(Q)
16 She treats her young harshly,(R) as if they were not hers;
she cares not that her labor was in vain,
17 for God did not endow her with wisdom
or give her a share of good sense.(S)
18 Yet when she spreads her feathers to run,
she laughs(T) at horse and rider.
19 “Do you give the horse its strength(U)
or clothe its neck with a flowing mane?
20 Do you make it leap like a locust,(V)
striking terror(W) with its proud snorting?(X)
21 It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength,(Y)
and charges into the fray.(Z)
22 It laughs(AA) at fear, afraid of nothing;
it does not shy away from the sword.
23 The quiver(AB) rattles against its side,
along with the flashing spear(AC) and lance.
24 In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground;
it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.(AD)
25 At the blast of the trumpet(AE) it snorts, ‘Aha!’
It catches the scent of battle from afar,
the shout of commanders and the battle cry.(AF)
26 “Does the hawk take flight by your wisdom
and spread its wings toward the south?(AG)
27 Does the eagle soar at your command
and build its nest on high?(AH)
28 It dwells on a cliff and stays there at night;
a rocky crag(AI) is its stronghold.
29 From there it looks for food;(AJ)
its eyes detect it from afar.
30 Its young ones feast on blood,
and where the slain are, there it is.”(AK)
