8 所 罗 门 建 造 耶 和 华 殿 和 王 宫 ， 二 十 年 才 完 毕 了 。
2 以 後 所 罗 门 重 新 修 筑 希 兰 送 给 他 的 那 些 城 邑 ， 使 以 色 列 人 住 在 那 里 。
3 所 罗 门 往 哈 马 琐 巴 去 ， 攻 取 了 那 地 方 。
4 所 罗 门 建 造 旷 野 里 的 达 莫 ， 又 建 造 哈 马 所 有 的 积 货 城 ，
5 又 建 造 上 伯 和 仑 、 下 伯 和 仑 作 为 保 障 ， 都 有 墙 ， 有 门 ， 有 闩 ；
6 又 建 造 巴 拉 和 所 有 的 积 货 城 ， 并 屯 车 辆 马 兵 的 城 ， 与 耶 路 撒 冷 、 利 巴 嫩 ， 以 及 自 己 治 理 的 全 国 中 所 愿 意 建 造 的 。

8 就 是 以 色 列 人 未 曾 灭 绝 的 ， 所 罗 门 挑 取 他 们 的 後 裔 作 服 苦 的 奴 仆 ， 直 到 今 日 。
9 惟 有 以 色 列 人 ， 所 罗 门 不 使 他 们 当 奴 仆 做 工 ， 乃 是 作 他 的 战 士 、 军 长 的 统 领 、 车 兵 长 、 马 兵 长 。
10 所 罗 门 王 有 二 百 五 十 督 工 的 ， 监 管 工 人 。
11 所 罗 门 将 法 老 的 女 儿 带 出 大 卫 城 ， 上 到 为 他 建 造 的 宫 里 ； 因 所 罗 门 说 ： 耶 和 华 约 柜 所 到 之 处 都 为 圣 地 ， 所 以 我 的 妻 不 可 住 在 以 色 列 王 大 卫 的 宫 里 。
12 所 罗 门 在 耶 和 华 的 坛 上 ， 就 是 在 廊 子 前 他 所 筑 的 坛 上 ， 与 耶 和 华 献 燔 祭 ；
13 又 遵 着 摩 西 的 吩 咐 在 安 息 日 、 月 朔 ， 并 一 年 三 节 ， 就 是 除 酵 节 、 七 七 节 、 住 棚 节 ， 献 每 日 所 当 献 的 祭 。
14 所 罗 门 照 着 他 父 大 卫 所 定 的 例 ， 派 定 祭 司 的 班 次 ， 使 他 们 各 供 己 事 ， 又 使 利 未 人 各 尽 其 职 ， 赞 美 耶 和 华 ， 在 祭 司 面 前 做 每 日 所 当 做 的 ； 又 派 守 门 的 按 着 班 次 看 守 各 门 ， 因 为 神 人 大 卫 是 这 样 吩 咐 的 。
15 王 所 吩 咐 众 祭 司 和 利 未 人 的 ， 无 论 是 管 府 库 或 办 别 的 事 ， 他 们 都 不 违 背 。

Wat Salomo nog meer liet bouwen
8 Salomo deed 20 jaar over het bouwen van de tempel en het paleis. 2 Daarna bouwde hij muren rond de steden die hij van koning Hiram van Tyrus had gekregen en liet er Israëlieten wonen. 3 Ook veroverde Salomo Hamat-Zoba. 4 Daarna bouwde hij muren rond Tadmor in de woestijn en voorraadsteden in Hamat. 5 Verder bouwde hij muren rond Hoog Bet-Horon en Laag Bet-Horon, zodat het sterke steden met muren, deuren en grendels werden. 6 Ook bouwde hij Baälat en steden waar hij voorraden kon bewaren en waar hij strijdwagens en paarden kon stallen. Hij bouwde wat hij maar wilde in Jeruzalem, op de Libanon en in zijn hele land. 7 Alle mannen die geen Israëliet waren, maar die waren overgebleven van de Amorieten, Hetieten, Perezieten, Hevieten en Jebusieten, 8 liet Salomo in de arbeidsdienst werken om dit allemaal te bouwen. Zij waren in het land overgebleven doordat de Israëlieten hen niet hadden kunnen doden of wegjagen toen het volk Israël het land Kanaän veroverde. Hen liet hij als slaven werken, en dat is nu nog steeds zo.[a] 9 Maar de Israëlieten maakte hij niet tot slaven. Zij waren zijn soldaten, dienaren in het paleis, leiders, aanvoerders en hoofdmannen van zijn strijdwagens en ruiters. 10 Salomo had 250 mannen die het volk bestuurden.
Salomo stelt regels op voor de dienst in de tempel
11 Salomo was getrouwd met de dochter van de farao. Hij liet haar verhuizen van de 'Stad van David' naar het huis dat hij voor haar had gebouwd. Hij zei namelijk: "Ik wil niet dat mijn vrouw woont in het paleis van David, de koning van Israël. Want de plaatsen waar de kist van het verbond van de Heer heeft gestaan, zijn heilig."
12 Salomo bracht offers aan de Heer op het altaar dat hij voor de Heer vóór de voorhal had gebouwd. 13 Dat waren de offers die Mozes had voorgeschreven voor elke dag, elke heilige rustdag, elke nieuwe maand en de drie feesten van de Heer. Die drie feesten waren het Feest van de Ongegiste Broden, het Wekenfeest en het Loofhuttenfeest.[b] Daarbij hield hij zich aan alle regels die Mozes daarvoor had gegeven. 14 Hij liet de priesters indelen in groepen die om de beurt dienst hadden. En de Levieten waren verdeeld in verschillende groepen voor de muziek en groepen deurwachters. Ook hun groepen deden om de beurt dienst. Zo had zijn vader David het bevolen. 15 Alles gebeurde precies volgens de regels die koning David had gegeven voor de priesters, de Levieten en de voorraden. 16 Alles wat Salomo wilde bouwen voor de tempel van de Heer, vanaf het fundament tot aan de voltooiing van het gebouw, werd gebouwd.
Salomo's vloot
17 Toen ging Salomo naar Ezeon-Geber en naar Elat aan de Rietzee, in het land Edom. 18 Koning Hiram stuurde hem schepen en ervaren zeelui uit zijn eigen land als bemanning voor die vloot. Ze voeren met de zeelui van koning Salomo mee naar Ofir en brachten daarvandaan 450 talenten (13.500 kilo) goud mee voor koning Salomo.

Solomon’s Later Building Projects
8 At the end of twenty years(A) during which Solomon had built the Lord’s temple and his own palace— 2 Solomon had rebuilt the cities Hiram[a] gave him and settled Israelites there— 3 Solomon went to Hamath-zobah and seized it. 4 He built Tadmor in the wilderness along with all the storage cities that he built in Hamath. 5 He built Upper Beth-horon and Lower Beth-horon(B)—fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars(C)— 6 Baalath, all the storage cities that belonged to Solomon, all the chariot cities, the cavalry cities, and everything Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, Lebanon, or anywhere else in the land of his dominion.
7 As for all the peoples who remained of the Hethites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not from Israel(D)— 8 their descendants who remained in the land after them, those the Israelites had not completely destroyed—Solomon imposed forced labor on them; it is this way today.(E) 9 But Solomon did not consign the Israelites to be slaves for his work; they were soldiers, commanders of his captains, and commanders of his chariots and his cavalry. 10 These were King Solomon’s deputies: 250 who supervised the people.
11 Solomon brought the daughter of Pharaoh from the city of David to the house he had built for her,(F) for he said, “My wife must not live in the house[b] of King David of Israel because the places the ark of the Lord has come into are holy.”
Public Worship Established at the Temple
12 At that time(G) Solomon offered burnt offerings to the Lord on the Lord’s altar he had made in front of the portico.(H) 13 He followed the daily requirement(I) for offerings according to the commandment of Moses(J) for Sabbaths, New Moons, and the three annual appointed festivals: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Shelters.(K) 14 According to the ordinances of his father David, he appointed the divisions of the priests over their service,(L) of the Levites over their responsibilities to offer praise and to minister before the priests following the daily requirement,(M) and of the gatekeepers by their divisions with respect to each temple gate,(N) for this had been the command of David, the man of God.(O) 15 They did not turn aside from the king’s command regarding the priests and the Levites concerning any matter or concerning the treasuries.(P) 16 All of Solomon’s work was carried out from the day the foundation was laid for the Lord’s temple until it was finished. So the Lord’s temple was completed.
Solomon’s Fleet
17 At that time(Q) Solomon went to Ezion-geber and to Eloth(R) on the seashore in the land of Edom. 18 So Hiram[c] sent ships to him by his servants along with crews of experienced seamen. They went with Solomon’s servants to Ophir, took from there seventeen tons[d] of gold, and delivered it to King Solomon.(S)
