亞撒納亞撒利雅之勸勉

15 神的靈感動俄德的兒子亞撒利雅 他出來迎接亞撒,對他說:「亞撒猶大便雅憫眾人哪,要聽我說!你們若順從耶和華,耶和華必與你們同在。你們若尋求他,就必尋見;你們若離棄他,他必離棄你們。 以色列人不信真神,沒有訓誨的祭司,也沒有律法,已經好久了, 但他們在急難的時候歸向耶和華以色列的神,尋求他,他就被他們尋見。 那時,出入的人不得平安,列國的居民都遭大亂, 這國攻擊那國,這城攻擊那城,互相破壞,因為神用各樣災難擾亂他們。 現在你們要剛強,不要手軟,因你們所行的必得賞賜。」

奮志除諸可憎之物

亞撒聽見這話和俄德兒子先知亞撒利雅的預言,就壯起膽來,在猶大便雅憫全地並以法蓮山地所奪的各城,將可憎之物盡都除掉,又在耶和華殿的廊前重新修築耶和華的壇。 又招聚猶大便雅憫的眾人,並他們中間寄居的以法蓮人、瑪拿西人、西緬人:有許多以色列人歸降亞撒,因見耶和華他的神與他同在。 10 亞撒十五年三月,他們都聚集在耶路撒冷 11 當日,他們從所取的擄物中將牛七百隻、羊七千隻獻給耶和華。 12 他們就立約,要盡心、盡性地尋求耶和華他們列祖的神, 13 凡不尋求耶和華以色列神的,無論大小、男女,必被治死。 14 他們就大聲歡呼,吹號吹角,向耶和華起誓。 15 猶大眾人為所起的誓歡喜。因他們是盡心起誓,盡意尋求耶和華,耶和華就被他們尋見,且賜他們四境平安。

貶祖母瑪迦之后位

16 亞撒王貶了他祖母瑪迦太后的位,因她造了可憎的偶像亞舍拉亞撒砍下她的偶像,搗得粉碎,燒在汲淪溪邊。 17 只是丘壇還沒有從以色列中廢去,然而亞撒的心一生誠實。 18 亞撒將他父所分別為聖與自己所分別為聖的金銀和器皿,都奉到神的殿裡。 19 從這時直到亞撒三十五年,都沒有爭戰的事。

亚撒的改革

15 上帝的灵降在俄德的儿子亚撒利雅身上, 他便出来迎接亚撒,对他说:“亚撒啊,所有的犹大人和便雅悯人啊,请听我说!你们若顺从耶和华,祂必与你们同在。你们若寻求祂,祂必让你们寻见。你们若背弃祂,祂必离弃你们。 以色列人已经许久没有真神,没有祭司教导,也没有律法。 然而,他们在患难时归向以色列的上帝耶和华,寻求祂,祂就让他们寻见。 那时,人们出入不得平安,因为各地都有动乱。 邦国与邦国、城邑与城邑互相攻击破坏,因为上帝用各样的灾难扰乱他们。 但你们要刚强,不要双手发软,因为你们必因所行的而得奖赏。”

16 亚撒王废除了他祖母玛迦的太后之位,因为她造了可憎的亚舍拉神像。亚撒将她的神像砍倒、打碎,烧毁在汲沦溪旁。 17 尽管他还没有把丘坛从以色列除去,但他一生对耶和华忠心。 18 他将他父亲和自己奉献给上帝的金银及器皿都带到上帝的殿里。

19 从那时直到亚撒执政第三十五年,国中都没有战争。

15 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.

Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord, that was before the porch of the Lord.

And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

10 So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

11 And they offered unto the Lord the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

14 And they sware unto the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about.

16 And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

17 But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18 And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19 And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
