13 大卫跟千夫长、百夫长等所有的首领商议， 2 然后对以色列全体会众说：“如果你们赞成，而且这是我们上帝耶和华的旨意，我们就派人到以色列各地把其他同胞，包括住在城邑及草场的祭司和利未人召集来。 3 我们要将我们上帝的约柜运到这里来，因为在扫罗执政期间，我们忽视了它。” 4 会众都表示赞同，认为这样做很好。

Bringing Back the Ark of the Covenant
13 David talked with all the officers of his army. He talked with the commanders of 100 men and the commanders of 1,000 men. 2 Then David called the people of Israel together. He said, “If you think it is a good idea, and if it is what the Lord our God wants, let’s send a message. Let’s send it to our fellow Israelites in all the areas of Israel. Let’s also send it to the priests and Levites living with them in their towns and pastures. Tell them to come and join us. 3 Let’s bring the Ark of the Covenant of our God back to us. We did not use it to ask God for help while Saul was king.” 4 So all the people agreed with David. They all thought it was the right thing to do.
5 So David gathered all the Israelites from the Shihor River in Egypt to Lebo Hamath. They were to bring the Ark of the Covenant of God back from the town of Kiriath Jearim. 6 David and all the Israelites with him went to Baalah of Judah. (Baalah is another name for Kiriath Jearim.) They went there to get the Ark of the Covenant of God the Lord. His throne is between the golden creatures with wings on the Ark of the Covenant. It is called by the Lord’s name.
7 The people moved the Ark of the Covenant of God from Abinadab’s house. They put it on a new cart. And Uzzah and Ahio guided the cart. 8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their strength before God. They were singing and playing harps, lyres, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.
9 They came to the threshing floor of Kidon. The oxen pulling the cart stumbled. And Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the Ark of the Covenant. 10 The Lord became very angry with Uzzah. And he killed Uzzah because Uzzah had touched the Ark of the Covenant. So Uzzah died there in the presence of God.
11 David became angry because the Lord had punished Uzzah in his anger. So even today that place is called the Punishment of Uzzah.
12 David was afraid of God that day. David asked, “How can I bring the Ark of the Covenant of God home to me?” 13 So David did not take the Ark of the Covenant with him to Jerusalem. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom of Gath. 14 The Ark of the Covenant of God stayed with Obed-Edom’s family in his house for three months. And the Lord blessed Obed-Edom’s family and everything he owned.

Bringing Back the Ark(A)
13 David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds. 2 He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our people throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us. 3 Let us bring the ark of our God back to us,(B) for we did not inquire(C) of[a] it[b] during the reign of Saul.” 4 The whole assembly agreed to do this, because it seemed right to all the people.
5 So David assembled all Israel,(D) from the Shihor River(E) in Egypt to Lebo Hamath,(F) to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.(G) 6 David and all Israel went to Baalah(H) of Judah (Kiriath Jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the Lord, who is enthroned between the cherubim(I)—the ark that is called by the Name.
7 They moved the ark of God from Abinadab’s(J) house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it. 8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.(K)
9 When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled. 10 The Lord’s anger(L) burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down(M) because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
11 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.[c](N)
12 David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?” 13 He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom(O) the Gittite. 14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household(P) and everything he had.

13 David tint conseil avec les chefs de milliers et de centaines, avec tous les princes, 2 puis il dit à toute l'assemblée d'Israël: «Si vous le trouvez bon et si cela vient de l'Eternel, notre Dieu, envoyons partout des messagers vers nos autres frères, dans toutes les régions d'Israël, ainsi que vers les prêtres et les Lévites dans leurs villes et les territoires attenants, afin qu'ils se joignent à nous, 3 et ramenons vers nous l'arche de notre Dieu, car nous ne nous en sommes pas occupés à l’époque de Saül.» 4 Toute l'assemblée décida d’agir de cette manière, car cela parut juste à tout le peuple.
5 David rassembla tout Israël, depuis le Shichor, le fleuve d'Egypte, jusqu'à l'entrée de Hamath, pour faire venir de Kirjath-Jearim l'arche de Dieu. 6 Puis, avec tout Israël, il monta à Baala, c’est-à-dire Kirjath-Jearim, qui appartient à Juda, pour faire monter de là l'arche de Dieu, à laquelle est associé le nom de l'Eternel qui siège entre les chérubins. 7 Ils mirent ce coffre de Dieu sur un char neuf et l’emportèrent depuis la maison d'Abinadab. C’étaient Uzza et Achjo qui conduisaient le char. 8 David et tout Israël dansaient de toute leur force devant Dieu en chantant et en jouant de la harpe, du luth, du tambourin, des cymbales et de la trompette.
9 Lorsqu'ils furent arrivés à l'aire de battage de Kidon, Uzza tendit la main pour retenir l'arche, parce que les bœufs la faisaient pencher. 10 La colère de l'Eternel s'enflamma contre lui et l'Eternel le frappa parce qu'il avait porté la main sur l'arche. Uzza mourut là, devant Dieu. 11 David fut troublé de ce que l'Eternel avait infligé une telle punition à Uzza et cet endroit a été appelé jusqu'à aujourd’hui Pérets-Uzza. 12 David eut peur de Dieu, ce jour-là, et il se dit: «Comment pourrais-je faire entrer chez moi l'arche de Dieu?» 13 David ne prit pas l'arche chez lui, dans la ville de David, et il la fit conduire dans la maison d'Obed-Edom, un homme de Gath. 14 L'arche de Dieu resta 3 mois dans la maison d'Obed-Edom, chez lui, et l'Eternel bénit sa famille ainsi que tout ce qui lui appartenait.

13 And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the Lord our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.
4 And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
5 So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.
6 And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the Lord, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
7 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.
8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
11 And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day.
12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.
14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.
