⁷大衛佔據了堡壘，因此那堡壘就叫大衛城。 ⁸大衛又從米羅開始，在四圍修建城牆，其餘的部分由約押修建。 ⁹大衛日漸強盛，因為萬軍之耶和華與他同在。

⁷Then David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore they called it ^[a]the City of David. ⁸And he built the city around it, from ^[b]the Millo to the surrounding area. Joab ^[c]repaired the rest of the city. ⁹So David ^(A)went on and became great, and the Lord of hosts was with ^(B)him.

⁷David then took up residence in the fortress, and so it was called the City of David. ⁸He built up the city around it, from the terraces^[a]^(A) to the surrounding wall, while Joab restored the rest of the city. ⁹And David became more and more powerful,^(B) because the Lord Almighty was with him.
