10 (A)Chiedete al Signore la pioggia nella stagione di primavera!
Il Signore che produce i lampi
darà loro abbondanza di pioggia,
a ciascuno erba nel proprio campo.
2 Poiché gl'idoli domestici dicono cose vane,
gl'indovini vedono menzogne,
i sogni mentono e danno un vano conforto;
perciò costoro vanno smarriti come pecore,
sono afflitti, perché non c'è pastore.
3 La mia ira si è accesa contro i pastori
e io punirò i capri;
perché il Signore degli eserciti visita il suo gregge, la casa di *Giuda,
e ne fa come il suo cavallo d'onore nella battaglia.
4 Da lui uscirà la pietra angolare, da lui il paletto, da lui l'arco di battaglia,
da lui usciranno tutti i condottieri insieme.
5 Saranno come prodi che calpestano il fango delle strade in battaglia,
combatteranno perché il Signore è con loro;
ma quelli che sono in groppa ai cavalli saranno confusi.
6 (B)«Io rafforzerò la casa di Giuda,
salverò la casa di *Giuseppe
e li ricondurrò perché ho pietà di loro;
saranno come se non li avessi mai scacciati,
perché io sono il Signore, il loro Dio, e li esaudirò.
7 Quelli di *Efraim saranno come un prode
e il loro cuore si rallegrerà come per effetto del vino;
i loro figli lo vedranno e si rallegreranno,
il loro cuore esulterà nel Signore.
8 Con un fischio li raccoglierò perché li voglio riscattare;
essi si moltiplicheranno come già si moltiplicarono.
9 Poi li disperderò fra i popoli,
essi si ricorderanno di me nei paesi lontani;
vivranno con i loro figli e torneranno.
10 Io li farò tornare dal paese d'Egitto
e li raccoglierò dall'Assiria;
li farò venire nel paese di *Galaad e in Libano,
ma non vi si troverà posto sufficiente per loro.
11 Egli passerà per il mare della distretta; ma nel mare egli colpirà i flutti
e tutte le profondità del fiume saranno prosciugate;
l'orgoglio dell'Assiria sarà abbattuto
e lo scettro d'Egitto sarà tolto via.
12 Li renderò forti nel Signore
ed essi cammineranno nel suo nome»,
dice il Signore.

10 Просите у Вечного дождь весной;
это Вечный творит грозовые тучи.
Он даёт вам обильный дождь,
каждому – урожай в поле.
2 Идолы вещают бред,
и гадатели видят пустые видения;
сновидцы рассказывают лживые сны
и утешают впустую.
Потому-то народ и скитается, словно овцы,
и бедствует без пастуха.
3 – Разгорелся Мой гнев на пастухов,
Я накажу козлов[a];
ведь позаботится Вечный, Повелитель Сил,
о Своей отаре, о доме Иуды,
сделает его подобным величавому коню среди битвы.
4 Из народа Иудеи будут их правители –
их «краеугольный камень»,
их «колышек для шатра»,
их «лук для битвы».
5 Вместе они – как воины в битве,
втопчут врага в дорожную грязь;
будут сражаться – ведь с ними Вечный –
и посрамят всадников.
6 Я укреплю дом Иуды
и спасу дом Юсуфа.[b]
Я возвращу их,
потому что сжалился над ними,
и будут они, словно Я их и не отвергал,
ведь Я Вечный, их Бог,
и Я им отвечу.
7 Ефраимиты уподобятся воинам,
их сердца будут веселы, как от вина.
Обрадуются их дети, увидев это,
возликуют их сердца в Вечном.
8 Я свистну им,
и они соберутся,
ведь Я выкупил их,
и будут они многочисленны, как прежде.
9 Пусть Я рассеял их среди народов –
они Меня вспомнят и в дальних странах.
Они и их дети выживут и возвратятся.
10 Я возвращу их из Египта,
соберу из Ассирии.
Я приведу их в Галаад и на Ливан,
и не хватит для них места.
11 Они перейдут через море бед,
и смирится бурное море,
и все глубины реки Нила иссохнут.
Гордость Ассирии будет унижена,
и лишится Египет скипетра.
12 Я укреплю их Моей силою,
и они будут жить жизнью, угодной мне, –
возвещает Вечный.

10 Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
2 For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.
3 Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the Lord of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.
4 Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every oppressor together.
5 And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.
6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.
7 And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the Lord.
8 I will hiss for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them: and they shall increase as they have increased.
9 And I will sow them among the people: and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and turn again.
10 I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria; and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and place shall not be found for them.
11 And he shall pass through the sea with affliction, and shall smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the sceptre of Egypt shall depart away.
12 And I will strengthen them in the Lord; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the Lord.

The Lord Will Care for Judah
10 Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain(A) to all people,
and plants of the field(B) to everyone.
2 The idols(C) speak deceitfully,
diviners(D) see visions that lie;
they tell dreams(E) that are false,
they give comfort in vain.(F)
Therefore the people wander like sheep
oppressed for lack of a shepherd.(G)
3 “My anger burns against the shepherds,
and I will punish the leaders;(H)
for the Lord Almighty will care
for his flock, the people of Judah,
and make them like a proud horse in battle.(I)
4 From Judah will come the cornerstone,(J)
from him the tent peg,(K)
from him the battle bow,(L)
from him every ruler.
5 Together they[a] will be like warriors in battle
trampling their enemy into the mud of the streets.(M)
They will fight because the Lord is with them,
and they will put the enemy horsemen to shame.(N)
6 “I will strengthen(O) Judah
and save the tribes of Joseph.
I will restore them
because I have compassion(P) on them.(Q)
They will be as though
I had not rejected them,
for I am the Lord their God
and I will answer(R) them.
7 The Ephraimites will become like warriors,
and their hearts will be glad as with wine.(S)
Their children will see it and be joyful;
their hearts will rejoice(T) in the Lord.
8 I will signal(U) for them
and gather them in.
Surely I will redeem them;
they will be as numerous(V) as before.
9 Though I scatter them among the peoples,
yet in distant lands they will remember me.(W)
They and their children will survive,
and they will return.
10 I will bring them back from Egypt
and gather them from Assyria.(X)
I will bring them to Gilead(Y) and Lebanon,
and there will not be room(Z) enough for them.
11 They will pass through the sea of trouble;
the surging sea will be subdued
and all the depths of the Nile will dry up.(AA)
Assyria’s pride(AB) will be brought down
and Egypt’s scepter(AC) will pass away.(AD)
12 I will strengthen(AE) them in the Lord
and in his name they will live securely,(AF)”
declares the Lord.
