Mannen med mätsnöret
2 Och jag lyfte min blick och fick se en man med ett mätsnöre i handen. 2 Då frågade jag: ”Vart går du?” Han svarade: ”Jag ska mäta Jerusalem för att se hur brett och långt det ska bli.” 3 Och se, ängeln som talade med mig kom fram, och en annan ängel kom emot honom. 4 (A) Han sade till denne: ”Skynda dig och säg till den unge mannen: Jerusalem ska ligga som en obefäst plats, på grund av den stora mängd människor och djur som finns därinne. 5 (B) Och jag själv, säger Herren, ska vara en mur av eld omkring staden, och jag ska vara härligheten därinne.”
En ny tid för Israel och folken
6 Upp, upp! Fly från landet i norr[a], säger Herren, för jag har skingrat er som himlens fyra vindar, säger Herren. 7 (C) Upp, Sion! Rädda dig, du som bor hos dottern Babel. 8 (D) För så säger Herren Sebaot, han som för sin härlighets skull[b] har sänt mig till hednafolken som har plundrat er: ”Den som rör vid er, rör vid hans ögonsten. 9 Se, jag lyfter min hand mot dem, och de ska plundras av sina slavar.” Ni ska då förstå att Herren Sebaot har sänt mig.
10 (E) Jubla och gläd dig, dotter Sion, för se, jag kommer och jag ska bo i dig, säger Herren. 11 (F) Många hednafolk ska på den dagen ansluta sig till Herren och bli mitt folk, och jag ska bo i dig. Du ska förstå att Herren Sebaot har sänt mig till dig. 12 (G) Herren ska ha Juda som sin del i det heliga landet, och än en gång ska han utvälja Jerusalem.
13 (H) Var stilla inför Herren, allt kött, för han har trätt fram ur sin heliga boning.

Vision of the Measuring Line
2 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, (A)a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 So I said, “Where are you going?”
And he said to me, (B)“To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.”
3 And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him, 4 who said to him, “Run, speak to this young man, saying: (C)‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. 5 For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be (D)a wall of fire all around her, (E)and I will be the glory in her midst.’ ”
Future Joy of Zion and Many Nations
6 “Up, up! Flee (F)from the land of the north,” says the Lord; “for I have (G)spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the Lord. 7 “Up, Zion! (H)Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.”
8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who (I)touches you touches the [a]apple of His eye. 9 For surely I will (J)shake My hand against them, and they shall become [b]spoil for their servants. Then (K)you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.
10 (L)“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I (M)will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord. 11 (N)“Many nations shall be joined to the Lord (O)in that day, and they shall become (P)My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then (Q)you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. 12 And the Lord will (R)take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. 13 (S)Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused (T)from His holy habitation!”

Den nya tiden för Israel och hednafolken

Du skall förstå att Herren Sebaot har sänt mig till dig. 12 Herren skall äga Juda som sin del i det heliga landet, och än en gång skall han utvälja Jerusalem.

2 Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
3 And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
4 And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
5 For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
6 Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the Lord: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the Lord.
7 Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
9 For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me.
10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.
11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
12 And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
