10 Pedid lluvia al Señor
en el tiempo de la lluvia tardía[a](A),
al Señor que hace los nubarrones[b];
Él les dará aguaceros(B),
y hierba en el campo a cada uno(C).
2 Porque los terafines[c] hablan iniquidad[d](D),
y los adivinos ven visiones mentirosas[e](E),
y cuentan sueños falsos(F);
en vano dan consuelo.
Por tanto, el pueblo vaga[f] como ovejas,
está afligido porque no hay pastor(G).
3 Contra los pastores se enciende mi ira(H),
y a los machos cabríos[g] castigaré;
porque el Señor de los ejércitos ha visitado su rebaño(I), la casa de Judá,
y hará de ellos como su caballo de honor en la batalla.
4 De él saldrá la piedra angular(J),
de él la clavija,
de él el arco de guerra(K),
de él todo gobernante[h]; juntos
5 serán como valientes,
que en la batalla huellan al enemigo en el barro de las calles(L);
pelearán, porque el Señor estará con ellos,
y serán avergonzados los que montan a caballo(M).
6 Fortaleceré(N) la casa de Judá
y la casa de José salvaré(O),
y los haré volver[i](P)
porque me he compadecido de ellos(Q);
y serán como si no los hubiera rechazado(R),
porque yo soy el Señor su Dios, y les responderé(S).
7 Efraín será como un valiente,
y se alegrará su corazón como por el vino;
sus hijos lo verán y se alegrarán,
y se regocijará[j] su corazón en el Señor(T).
8 Y les silbaré para reunirlos(U),
porque los he redimido(V);
y serán tan numerosos como eran[k](W).
9 Cuando yo los esparza[l] entre los pueblos,
aun en lejanas tierras se acordarán de mí,
y vivirán con sus hijos, y volverán(X).
10 Los haré volver de la tierra de Egipto,
y de Asiria los recogeré(Y);
los traeré a la tierra de Galaad(Z) y del Líbano,
hasta que no haya[m] sitio para ellos(AA).
11 Pasarán por el mar de la angustia,
y Él herirá las olas en el mar(AB)
y se secarán todas las profundidades del Nilo(AC);
y será abatido el orgullo de Asiria(AD)
y apartado el cetro de Egipto(AE).
12 Yo los fortaleceré en el Señor(AF),
y en su nombre andarán —declara el Señor(AG).

Jehová redimirá a su pueblo
10 Pedid a Jehová lluvia en la estación tardía. Jehová hará relámpagos, y os dará lluvia abundante, y hierba verde en el campo a cada uno. 2 Porque los terafines han dado vanos oráculos, y los adivinos han visto mentira, han hablado sueños vanos, y vano es su consuelo; por lo cual el pueblo vaga como ovejas, y sufre porque no tiene pastor.(A)
3 Contra los pastores se ha encendido mi enojo, y castigaré a los jefes; pero Jehová de los ejércitos visitará su rebaño, la casa de Judá, y los pondrá como su caballo de honor en la guerra. 4 De él saldrá la piedra angular, de él la clavija, de él el arco de guerra, de él también todo apremiador. 5 Y serán como valientes que en la batalla huellan al enemigo en el lodo de las calles; y pelearán, porque Jehová estará con ellos; y los que cabalgan en caballos serán avergonzados.
6 Porque yo fortaleceré la casa de Judá, y guardaré la casa de José, y los haré volver; porque de ellos tendré piedad, y serán como si no los hubiera desechado; porque yo soy Jehová su Dios, y los oiré. 7 Y será Efraín como valiente, y se alegrará su corazón como a causa del vino; sus hijos también verán, y se alegrarán; su corazón se gozará en Jehová.
8 Yo los llamaré con un silbido, y los reuniré, porque los he redimido; y serán multiplicados tanto como fueron antes. 9 Bien que los esparciré entre los pueblos, aun en lejanos países se acordarán de mí; y vivirán con sus hijos, y volverán. 10 Porque yo los traeré de la tierra de Egipto, y los recogeré de Asiria; y los traeré a la tierra de Galaad y del Líbano, y no les bastará. 11 Y la tribulación pasará por el mar, y herirá en el mar las ondas, y se secarán todas las profundidades del río; y la soberbia de Asiria será derribada, y se perderá el cetro de Egipto. 12 Y yo los fortaleceré en Jehová, y caminarán en su nombre, dice Jehová.

The Lord Will Care for Judah
10 Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain(A) to all people,
and plants of the field(B) to everyone.
2 The idols(C) speak deceitfully,
diviners(D) see visions that lie;
they tell dreams(E) that are false,
they give comfort in vain.(F)
Therefore the people wander like sheep
oppressed for lack of a shepherd.(G)
3 “My anger burns against the shepherds,
and I will punish the leaders;(H)
for the Lord Almighty will care
for his flock, the people of Judah,
and make them like a proud horse in battle.(I)
4 From Judah will come the cornerstone,(J)
from him the tent peg,(K)
from him the battle bow,(L)
from him every ruler.
5 Together they[a] will be like warriors in battle
trampling their enemy into the mud of the streets.(M)
They will fight because the Lord is with them,
and they will put the enemy horsemen to shame.(N)
6 “I will strengthen(O) Judah
and save the tribes of Joseph.
I will restore them
because I have compassion(P) on them.(Q)
They will be as though
I had not rejected them,
for I am the Lord their God
and I will answer(R) them.
7 The Ephraimites will become like warriors,
and their hearts will be glad as with wine.(S)
Their children will see it and be joyful;
their hearts will rejoice(T) in the Lord.
8 I will signal(U) for them
and gather them in.
Surely I will redeem them;
they will be as numerous(V) as before.
9 Though I scatter them among the peoples,
yet in distant lands they will remember me.(W)
They and their children will survive,
and they will return.
10 I will bring them back from Egypt
and gather them from Assyria.(X)
I will bring them to Gilead(Y) and Lebanon,
and there will not be room(Z) enough for them.
11 They will pass through the sea of trouble;
the surging sea will be subdued
and all the depths of the Nile will dry up.(AA)
Assyria’s pride(AB) will be brought down
and Egypt’s scepter(AC) will pass away.(AD)
12 I will strengthen(AE) them in the Lord
and in his name they will live securely,(AF)”
declares the Lord.

10 Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
2 For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.
3 Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the Lord of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.
4 Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every oppressor together.
5 And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.
6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.
7 And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the Lord.
8 I will hiss for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them: and they shall increase as they have increased.
9 And I will sow them among the people: and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and turn again.
10 I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria; and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and place shall not be found for them.
11 And he shall pass through the sea with affliction, and shall smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the sceptre of Egypt shall depart away.
12 And I will strengthen them in the Lord; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the Lord.
