7 基列·耶琳人就下來把耶和華的約櫃抬到山上，放在亞比拿達的家裡，派他的兒子以利亞撒看守耶和華的約櫃。
撒母耳征服非利士人
2 約櫃在基列·耶琳停留了二十年。那時，全體以色列人都痛悔地尋求耶和華。 3 撒母耳對他們說：「如果你們全心歸向耶和華，就要除掉你們那些外族的神明，包括亞斯她錄神像，一心歸向耶和華，單單事奉祂，祂必從非利士人手中救你們。」 4 於是，他們除掉了巴力和亞斯她錄神像，單單事奉耶和華。
5 撒母耳又說：「你們全體以色列人到米斯巴來，我會為你們向耶和華祈求。」 6 他們就在那裡聚集，打水倒在耶和華面前，並在當天禁食。他們說：「我們得罪了耶和華。」於是，撒母耳在米斯巴做以色列人的士師。 7 非利士人聽說以色列人在米斯巴聚集，他們的首領就率領軍隊來攻打以色列人。以色列人聽見消息後，非常害怕。 8 他們對撒母耳說：「請你為我們不停地呼求我們的上帝耶和華，求祂從非利士人手中拯救我們。」 9 撒母耳把一隻還在吃奶的羊獻給耶和華作全牲燔祭。他為以色列人呼求耶和華，耶和華垂聽了他的祈求。 10 撒母耳正在獻燔祭的時候，非利士人已經逼近了。那天，耶和華向非利士人發出雷霆之聲，使他們陷入一片恐慌，敗在了以色列人手下。 11 以色列人從米斯巴一路追殺他們，直到伯·甲附近。

7 基列．耶琳人就前来，把耶和华的约柜抬上去；他们把它抬到山上亚比拿达的家中，又把他的儿子以利亚撒分别为圣，看守耶和华的约柜。 2 约柜停留在基列．耶琳很久，有二十年之久，以色列全家都痛悔寻求耶和华。
撒母耳祷告，以色列人战胜
3 于是撒母耳对以色列全家说：“如果你们一心归向耶和华，就当把外族的神和亚斯他录从你们中间除掉，专心归向耶和华，单单事奉他，他必救你们脱离非利士人的手。” 4 以色列人就除掉众巴力和亚斯他录，单单事奉耶和华。
5 撒母耳又说：“你们要把以色列众人都聚集在米斯巴，我好为你们向耶和华祷告。” 6 于是，他们聚集在米斯巴，打了水，浇奠在耶和华面前；当日他们禁食，并且在那里说：“我们得罪了耶和华。”撒母耳就在米斯巴治理以色列人。 7 非利士人听见以色列人集合在米斯巴，各城的领袖就上来攻打以色列人；以色列人听见了，都害怕起来。 8 以色列人对撒母耳说：“请你不要静默，为我们呼求耶和华我们的 神吧，好叫他拯救我们脱离非利士人的手。” 9 撒母耳就牵来一只还在吃奶的羊羔，把牠作全牲的燔祭献给耶和华，又为以色列人向耶和华呼求，耶和华就应允他。 10 撒母耳正在献上燔祭的时候，非利士人前来要与以色列人争战。当天，耶和华发出极大的雷声，攻击非利士人，使他们溃乱，他们就在以色列人面前被击败。 11 于是以色列人从米斯巴出去，追赶非利士人，击杀他们，直到伯．甲的下边。
12 撒母耳搬来了一块石头，把它竖立在米斯巴和善之间，给这块石头起名叫以便以谢，说：“直到现在，耶和华都帮助我们。” 13 这样，非利士人就被制伏了，不再侵犯以色列的境界。撒母耳在世的日子，耶和华的手一直攻击非利士人。 14 非利士人从以色列人夺得的城市，自以革伦直到迦特，都归还以色列人；属于这些城市的四境，以色列人也从非利士人手中夺回。那时，以色列人和亚摩利人和平相处。

1 Samuel 7

7 (A)So the people of Kiriath Jearim got the Lord's Covenant Box and took it to the house of a man named Abinadab, who lived on a hill. They consecrated his son Eleazar to be in charge of it.
Samuel Rules Israel
2 The Covenant Box of the Lord stayed in Kiriath Jearim a long time, some twenty years. During this time all the Israelites cried to the Lord for help.
3 Samuel said to the people of Israel, “If you are going to turn to the Lord with all your hearts, you must get rid of all the foreign gods and the images of the goddess Astarte. Dedicate yourselves completely to the Lord and worship only him, and he will rescue you from the power of the Philistines.” 4 So the Israelites got rid of their idols of Baal and Astarte, and worshiped only the Lord.
5 Then Samuel called for all the Israelites to meet at Mizpah, telling them, “I will pray to the Lord for you there.” 6 So they all gathered at Mizpah. They drew some water and poured it out as an offering to the Lord and fasted that whole day. They said, “We have sinned against the Lord.” (It was at Mizpah where Samuel settled disputes among the Israelites.)
7 When the Philistines heard that the Israelites had gathered at Mizpah, the five Philistine kings started out with their men to attack them. The Israelites heard about it and were afraid, 8 and said to Samuel, “Keep praying to the Lord our God to save us from the Philistines.” 9 (B)Samuel killed a young lamb and burned it whole as a sacrifice to the Lord. Then he prayed to the Lord to help Israel, and the Lord answered his prayer. 10 While Samuel was offering the sacrifice, the Philistines moved forward to attack; but just then the Lord thundered from heaven against them. They became completely confused and fled in panic. 11 The Israelites marched out from Mizpah and pursued the Philistines almost as far as Bethcar, killing them along the way.
12 Then Samuel took a stone, set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and said, “The Lord has helped us all the way”—and he named it “Stone of Help.” 13 So the Philistines were defeated, and the Lord prevented them from invading Israel's territory as long as Samuel lived. 14 All the cities which the Philistines had captured between Ekron and Gath were returned to Israel, and so Israel got back all its territory. And there was peace also between the Israelites and the Canaanites.
15 Samuel ruled Israel as long as he lived. 16 Every year he would go around to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah, and in these places he would settle disputes. 17 Then he would go back to his home in Ramah, where also he would serve as judge. In Ramah he built an altar to the Lord.
