问候
1 我保罗做上帝的奴仆和耶稣基督的使徒，是为了使上帝拣选的人有信心、明白真理，从而过敬虔的生活， 2 有永生的盼望。这永生是从不说谎的上帝在亘古以前应许的。 3 祂在所定的时候，借着人的传扬将自己的道显明出来。我奉我们救主上帝的命令传扬这道。
4 提多啊，我写信给你，就我们共同的信仰来说，你是我真正的儿子。
愿父上帝和我们的救主基督耶稣赐给你恩典和平安！
长老的资格
5 当初，我把你留在克里特岛，是要你完成未办完的事工，并照我的指示在各城选立长老。 6 做长老的必须无可指责，只有一位妻子，儿女都信主、没有放荡不羁的行为。 7 身为上帝的管家，做监督的必须无可指责，不傲慢，不暴躁，不酗酒，不好斗，不贪财。 8 他必须好客、乐善、自制、正直、圣洁、自律， 9 持守所领受的真道，以便能够以纯正的教导劝勉人，驳倒那些反对的人。

1 Pavel, rob al lui Dumnezeu şi apostol al lui Isus Cristos, după credinţa aleşilor lui Dumnezeu şi după cunoaşterea adevărului, care este potrivit cu evlavia, 2 în nădejdea vieţii veşnice, pe care Dumnezeu, Care nu minte, a promis-o înainte de vremurile veşniciilor, 3 iar la vremea potrivită Şi-a descoperit Cuvântul prin predicarea care mi-a fost încredinţată prin porunca lui Dumnezeu, Mântuitorul nostru, 4 către Titus, adevăratul meu copil în credinţa pe care o împărtăşim împreună: har şi pace de la Dumnezeu Tatăl şi de la Cristos Isus, Mântuitorul nostru!
Slujba lui Titus în Creta
5 Te-am lăsat în Creta ca să pui în ordine lucrurile care au mai rămas de rânduit şi să numeşti bătrâni[a] în fiecare cetate, aşa cum ţi-am poruncit. 6 Dar bătrânul trebuie să fie cineva fără pată, soţ al unei singure femei[b], având copii credincioşi, care să nu fie acuzaţi de destrăbălare sau de neascultare. 7 Căci supraveghetorul[c], ca administrator al lui Dumnezeu, trebuie să fie fără pată, să nu fie arogant, nici mânios, nici beţiv, nici bătăuş, nici lacom de câştig, 8 ci trebuie să fie ospitalier, să iubească binele, să fie cumpătat, drept, sfânt, înfrânat, 9 să se ţină de Cuvântul vrednic de încredere, care este potrivit cu învăţătura primită, pentru a-i putea încuraja şi pe alţii prin învăţătura sănătoasă şi pentru a-i mustra pe cei ce vorbesc împotrivă.
10 Sunt mulţi răzvrătiţi, palavragii şi înşelători, îndeosebi printre cei circumcişi, 11 care trebuie făcuţi să tacă, pentru că buimăcesc case întregi, învăţându-i pe oameni ceea ce n-ar trebui, de dragul unui câştig ruşinos. 12 Chiar unul dintre ei, un profet de-al lor, a zis: „Cretanii sunt întotdeauna nişte mincinoşi, nişte fiare rele şi nişte pântece leneşe[d].“ 13 Mărturia aceasta este adevărată. Din acest motiv, mustră-i cu asprime, ca să fie sănătoşi în credinţă 14 şi să nu dea atenţie miturilor iudaice şi poruncilor oamenilor care se întorc de la adevăr! 15 Pentru cei curaţi, toate sunt curate, dar pentru cei pângăriţi şi necredincioşi, nimic nu este curat, ci până şi mintea, şi conştiinţa le sunt pângărite. 16 Ei pretind că-L cunosc pe Dumnezeu, dar prin faptele lor Îl neagă. Sunt odioşi, neascultători, incapabili de orice lucrare bună.

1 Paul, a servant of God(A) and an apostle(B) of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth(C) that leads to godliness(D)— 2 in the hope of eternal life,(E) which God, who does not lie,(F) promised before the beginning of time,(G) 3 and which now at his appointed season(H) he has brought to light(I) through the preaching entrusted to me(J) by the command of God(K) our Savior,(L)
4 To Titus,(M) my true son(N) in our common faith:
Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.(O)
Appointing Elders Who Love What Is Good(P)
5 The reason I left you in Crete(Q) was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint[a] elders(R) in every town, as I directed you. 6 An elder must be blameless,(S) faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe[b] and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7 Since an overseer(T) manages God’s household,(U) he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.(V) 8 Rather, he must be hospitable,(W) one who loves what is good,(X) who is self-controlled,(Y) upright, holy and disciplined. 9 He must hold firmly(Z) to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine(AA) and refute those who oppose it.
Rebuking Those Who Fail to Do Good
10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk(AB) and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.(AC) 11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households(AD) by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete’s own prophets(AE) has said it: “Cretans(AF) are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”[c] 13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke(AG) them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith(AH) 14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths(AI) or to the merely human commands(AJ) of those who reject the truth.(AK) 15 To the pure, all things are pure,(AL) but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure.(AM) In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.(AN) 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him.(AO) They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.(AP)
