4 既然耶稣在肉体上遭受了痛苦，那么你们就应该用耶稣的意志去武装自己。因为在肉体上受难的人已跟罪恶绝缘了， 2 以便在尘世余下的光阴里不再顺从人类肉体的欲望，而是去执行上帝的意旨。 3 过去你们把很多的光阴浪费在异教徒喜好的事情上了，你们沉湎于声色、纵欲，酗酒、淫佚的宴乐、狂饮和可恶的偶像崇拜之中。 4 现在，当你们不再与他们同流合污，过那种放荡的生活了，他们感到很惊讶，于是便诋毁你们。 5 这些人必须就他们的行为向审判活人和死人的基督作出交待。 6 为此，福音传给死人，因为他们也要像所有的人一样，为他们在世时所做的事情受到审判。福音传给了他们，以便他们在灵里能够像上帝那样生活。
做一个上帝恩赐的好管家
7 万物的终结已经临近，所以要谨慎、自持，以便有助于你们的祷告。 8 最重要的是，彼此要深深地相爱，因为爱能掩盖众多的罪恶。 9 要毫无怨言地彼此敞开家门。 10 你们每个人要像上帝各种恩赐的好管家那样，按照各自领受到的才能为彼此服务。 11 宣讲的人，应该宣讲上帝的话，服务的人，应该用上帝赐予的力量去服务，通过耶稣基督，在一切事物中把荣誉归于上帝。愿荣耀与力量永远属于他，阿们。
为跟随基督而受难
12 亲爱的朋友们，不要为发生在你们中间的烈火般的严峻考验感到惊讶，仿佛遇到了不寻常的事似的。 13 相反，你们应该以分担耶稣的苦难而感到幸福，这样在基督显示出他的荣耀时，你们就会幸福快乐。 14 如果因为你们是基督的信徒而受到侮辱，你们是有福的，因为上帝荣耀的圣灵与你们同在。 15 你们不应该做为凶手、窃贼、罪犯或好管闲事者而遭殃。 16 如果你们有谁做为基督徒而受难，他不应该感到羞愧，他应该为承受了基督徒的名字而赞美上帝。 17 因为审判的时刻已经开始，上帝的家庭成员最先受到审判。如果这审判先从我们开始，那么，不遵守上帝福音的人会有什么结局呢？ 18 好人得救尚不容易，那么不虔诚的人和罪人又会怎样呢？ 19 所以，遵照上帝的旨意而受难的人，应该把他们的生命托付给他们的创造者上帝，并应该继续行善。

4 既然基督曾在肉身上为你们受苦，你们也要怀着同样的心志，因为肉体受过苦的人已经与罪断绝了关系， 2 可以在今后的生活中不再随从人的私欲，只服从上帝的旨意。 3 你们从前长期沉溺于异教徒的嗜好——淫乱、纵欲、醉酒、狂欢、宴乐和可憎的偶像崇拜。 4 如今你们不再和他们同流合污，他们觉得奇怪，就用恶言毁谤你们。 5 但他们将来必须向审判活人和死人的主交账。 6 正因如此，福音也曾传给已死的人。这样，他们的肉体虽然像世人一样受了审判，他们的灵魂却可以靠上帝活着。
恩典的好管家
7 万物的尽头快到了。因此，你们要谨慎自律，警醒祷告。 8 最重要的是要彼此真诚相爱，因为爱可以遮盖许多罪。 9 要互相接待，不发怨言， 10 按着自己所得的恩赐彼此服侍，做上帝各样恩典的好管家。 11 能讲道的，要按着上帝的话去讲；能服侍人的，要本着上帝所赐的力量去服侍。这样，上帝会借着耶稣基督在一切的事上得到荣耀。

4 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
